ન્યાયાધીશોના સમયમાં ઘણા વરસો પહેલા બેથલેહેમ-યહૂદિયામાં દુકાળ પડયો તેથી યહૂદિયામાં આવેલા બેથલેહેમનો એક માંણસ પોતાની પત્ની અને બે પુત્રોને લઈને મોઆબ દેશમાં રહેવા ચાલ્યો ગયો.
