Lamentations 1:1
એ શહેર કેવું એકલવાયું પડી રહ્યું છે! જે એક વાર લોકોથી ધમધમતું હતું, દેશવિદેશમાં મહાન ગણાતું હતુ, તે શા માટે વિધવા જેવું થઇ ગયુ? જે શહેરોની મહારાણી જેવું હતું, તે બીજી પ્રજાઓનું ગુલામ કેમ થઇ ગયુ?

| she that was great | רַבָּ֣תִי | rabbātî | ra-BA-tee |
| among the nations, | בַגּוֹיִ֗ם | baggôyim | va-ɡoh-YEEM |
| princess and | שָׂרָ֙תִי֙ | śārātiy | sa-RA-TEE |
| among the provinces, | בַּמְּדִינ֔וֹת | bammĕdînôt | ba-meh-dee-NOTE |
| how is she become | הָיְתָ֖ה | hāytâ | hai-TA |
| tributary! | לָמַֽס׃ | lāmas | la-MAHS |
