וַיִּקְרָ֥א called qārāʾ יַֽעֲקֹ֖ב And Jacob yaʿăqōb אֶל unto ʾēl בָּנָ֑יו his sons, bēn וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and said, ʾāmar הֵאָֽסְפוּ֙ Gather yourselves together, ʾāsap וְאַגִּ֣ידָה that I may tell nāgad לָכֶ֔ם אֵ֛ת you ʾēt אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer יִקְרָ֥א shall befall qārāʾ אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt בְּאַֽחֲרִ֥ית you in the last ʾaḥărît הַיָּמִֽים׃ days. yôm

הִקָּֽבְצ֥וּ Gather yourselves together, qābaṣ וְשִׁמְע֖וּ and hear, šāmaʿ בְּנֵ֣י ye sons bēn יַֽעֲקֹ֑ב of Jacob; yaʿăqōb וְשִׁמְע֖וּ and hearken šāmaʿ אֶל unto ʾēl יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל Israel yiśrāʾēl אֲבִיכֶֽם׃ your father. ʾāb

רְאוּבֵן֙ Reuben, rĕʾûbēn בְּכֹ֣רִי my firstborn, bĕkôr אַ֔תָּה thou ʾattâ כֹּחִ֖י my might, kōaḥ וְרֵאשִׁ֣ית and the beginning rēʾšît אוֹנִ֑י of my strength, ʾôn יֶ֥תֶר the excellency yeter שְׂאֵ֖ת of dignity, śĕʾēt וְיֶ֥תֶר and the excellency yeter עָֽז׃ of power: ʿaz

פַּ֤חַז Unstable paḥaz כַּמַּ֙יִם֙ as water, mayim אַל thou shalt not ʾal תּוֹתַ֔ר excel; yātar כִּ֥י because kî עָלִ֖יתָ thou wentest up ʿālâ מִשְׁכְּבֵ֣י bed; miškāb אָבִ֑יךָ to thy father's ʾāb אָ֥ז then ʾāz חִלַּ֖לְתָּ defiledst thou ḥālal יְצוּעִ֥י to my couch. yāṣûaʿ עָלָֽה׃ he went up ʿālâ

שִׁמְע֥וֹן Simeon šimʿôn וְלֵוִ֖י and Levi lēwî אַחִ֑ים brethren; ʾāḥ כְּלֵ֥י instruments kĕlî חָמָ֖ס of cruelty ḥāmās מְכֵרֹֽתֵיהֶֽם׃ their habitations. mĕkērâ

בְּסֹדָם֙ thou into their secret; sôd אַל not ʾal תָּבֹ֣א come bôʾ נַפְשִׁ֔י O my soul, nepeš בִּקְהָלָ֖ם unto their assembly, qāhāl אַל be not ʾal תֵּחַ֣ד thou united: yāḥad כְּבֹדִ֑י mine honour, kābôd כִּ֤י for kî בְאַפָּם֙ in their anger ʾap הָ֣רְגוּ they slew hārag אִ֔ישׁ a man, ʾîš וּבִרְצֹנָ֖ם and in their selfwill rāṣôn עִקְּרוּ they digged down ʿāqar שֽׁוֹר׃ a wall. šôr

אָר֤וּר Cursed ʾārar אַפָּם֙ their anger, ʾap כִּ֣י for kî עָ֔ז fierce; ʿaz וְעֶבְרָתָ֖ם and their wrath, ʿebrâ כִּ֣י for kî קָשָׁ֑תָה it was cruel: qāšâ אֲחַלְּקֵ֣ם I will divide ḥālaq בְּיַֽעֲקֹ֔ב them in Jacob, yaʿăqōb וַֽאֲפִיצֵ֖ם and scatter pûṣ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ them in Israel. yiśrāʾēl

יְהוּדָ֗ה Judah, yĕhûdâ אַתָּה֙ thou ʾattâ יוֹד֣וּךָ shall praise: yādâ אַחֶ֔יךָ whom thy brethren ʾāḥ יָֽדְךָ֖ thy hand yād בְּעֹ֣רֶף in the neck ʿōrep אֹֽיְבֶ֑יךָ of thine enemies; ʾōyēb יִשְׁתַּחֲוּ֥וּ shall bow down before thee. šāḥâ לְךָ֖ בְּנֵ֥י children bēn אָבִֽיךָ׃ thy father's ʾāb

גּ֤וּר whelp: gûr אַרְיֵה֙ a lion's ʾărî יְהוּדָ֔ה Judah yĕhûdâ מִטֶּ֖רֶף from the prey, ṭerep בְּנִ֣י my son, bēn עָלִ֑יתָ thou art gone up: ʿālâ כָּרַ֨ע he stooped down, kāraʿ רָבַ֧ץ he couched rābaṣ כְּאַרְיֵ֛ה as a lion, ʾărî וּכְלָבִ֖יא and as an old lion; lābîʾ מִ֥י who mî יְקִימֶֽנּוּ׃ shall rouse him up? qûm

לֹֽא shall not lōʾ יָס֥וּר depart sûr שֵׁ֙בֶט֙ The sceptre šēbeṭ מִֽיהוּדָ֔ה from Judah, yĕhûdâ וּמְחֹקֵ֖ק nor a lawgiver ḥāqaq מִבֵּ֣ין from between bên רַגְלָ֑יו his feet, regel עַ֚ד ʿad כִּֽי until kî יָבֹ֣א come; bôʾ שִׁילֹ֔ה Shiloh šîlō וְל֖וֹ יִקְּהַ֥ת and unto him the gathering yiqqāhâ עַמִּֽים׃ of the people ʿam

אֹֽסְרִ֤י Binding ʾāsar לַגֶּ֙פֶן֙ unto the vine, gepen עִירֹ֔ה his foal ʿayir וְלַשֹּׂרֵקָ֖ה unto the choice vine; śōrēq בְּנִ֣י colt bēn אֲתֹנ֑וֹ and his ass's ʾātôn כִּבֵּ֤ס he washed kābas בַּיַּ֙יִן֙ in wine, yayin לְבֻשׁ֔וֹ his garments lĕbûš וּבְדַם in the blood dām עֲנָבִ֖ים of grapes: ʿēnāb סוּתֹֽה׃ and his clothes sût

חַכְלִילִ֥י red ḥaklîl עֵינַ֖יִם His eyes ʿayin מִיָּ֑יִן with wine, yayin וּלְבֶן white lābān שִׁנַּ֖יִם and his teeth šēn מֵֽחָלָֽב׃ with milk. ḥālāb

זְבוּלֻ֕ן Zebulun zĕbûlûn לְח֥וֹף at the haven ḥôp יַמִּ֖ים of the sea; yām יִשְׁכֹּ֑ן shall dwell šākan וְהוּא֙ and he hûʾ לְח֣וֹף for an haven ḥôp אֳנִיֹּ֔ת of ships; ʾŏniyyâ וְיַרְכָת֖וֹ and his border yĕrēkâ עַל unto ʿal צִידֹֽן׃ Zidon. ṣîdôn

יִשָּׂשכָ֖ר Issachar yiśśokār חֲמֹ֣ר ass ḥămôr גָּ֑רֶם a strong gerem רֹבֵ֖ץ couching down rābaṣ בֵּ֥ין between bên הַֽמִּשְׁפְּתָֽיִם׃ two burdens: mišpāt

וַיַּ֤רְא And he saw rāʾâ מְנֻחָה֙ rest mĕnûḥâ כִּ֣י that kî ט֔וֹב good, ṭôb וְאֶת ʾēt הָאָ֖רֶץ and the land ʾereṣ כִּ֣י that kî נָעֵ֑מָה pleasant; nāʿēm וַיֵּ֤ט and bowed nāṭâ שִׁכְמוֹ֙ his shoulder šĕkem לִסְבֹּ֔ל to bear, sābal וַיְהִ֖י and became hāyâ לְמַס unto tribute. mas עֹבֵֽד׃ a servant ʿābad

דָּ֖ן Dan dān יָדִ֣ין shall judge dîn עַמּ֑וֹ his people, ʿam כְּאַחַ֖ד as one ʾeḥād שִׁבְטֵ֥י of the tribes šēbeṭ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel. yiśrāʾēl

יְהִי shall be hāyâ דָן֙ Dan dān נָחָ֣שׁ a serpent nāḥoš עֲלֵי by ʿal דֶ֔רֶךְ the way, derek שְׁפִיפֹ֖ן an adder šĕpîpōn עֲלֵי in ʿal אֹ֑רַח the path, ʾōraḥ הַנֹּשֵׁךְ֙ that biteth nāšak עִקְּבֵי heels, ʿāqēb ס֔וּס the horse sûs וַיִּפֹּ֥ל shall fall nāpal רֹֽכְב֖וֹ so that his rider rākab אָחֽוֹר׃ backward. ʾāḥôr

לִֽישׁוּעָתְךָ֖ thy salvation, yĕšûʿâ קִוִּ֥יתִי I have waited for qāwâ יְהוָֽה׃ O Lord. yĕhōwâ

גָּ֖ד Gad, gād גְּד֣וּד a troop gĕdûd יְגוּדֶ֑נּוּ shall overcome gûd וְה֖וּא him: but he hûʾ יָגֻ֥ד shall overcome gûd עָקֵֽב׃ at the last. ʿāqēb

מֵֽאָשֵׁ֖ר Out of Asher ʾāšēr שְׁמֵנָ֣ה fat, šāmēn לַחְמ֑וֹ his bread leḥem וְה֥וּא and he hûʾ יִתֵּ֖ן shall yield nātan מַֽעֲדַנֵּי dainties. maʿădān מֶֽלֶךְ׃ royal melek

נַפְתָּלִ֖י Naphtali naptālî אַיָּלָ֣ה a hind ʾayyālâ שְׁלֻחָ֑ה let loose: šālaḥ הַנֹּתֵ֖ן he giveth nātan אִמְרֵי words. ʾēmer שָֽׁפֶר׃ goodly šeper

בֵּ֤ן bough, bēn פֹּרָת֙ a fruitful pārâ יוֹסֵ֔ף Joseph yôsēp בֵּ֥ן bough bēn פֹּרָ֖ת a fruitful pārâ עֲלֵי by ʿal עָ֑יִן a well; ʿayin בָּנ֕וֹת branches bat צָֽעֲדָ֖ה run ṣāʿad עֲלֵי over ʿal שֽׁוּר׃ the wall: šûr

וַֽיְמָרֲרֻ֖הוּ have sorely grieved him, mārar וָרֹ֑בּוּ and shot rābab וַֽיִּשְׂטְמֻ֖הוּ and hated him: śāṭam בַּֽעֲלֵ֥י The archers baʿal חִצִּֽים׃ ḥēṣ

וַתֵּ֤שֶׁב abode yāšab בְּאֵיתָן֙ in strength, ʾêtān קַשְׁתּ֔וֹ But his bow qešet וַיָּפֹ֖זּוּ were made strong pāzaz זְרֹעֵ֣י and the arms zĕrôaʿ יָדָ֑יו of his hands yād מִידֵי֙ by the hands yād אֲבִ֣יר of the mighty ʾābîr יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב of Jacob; yaʿăqōb מִשָּׁ֥ם (from thence šām רֹעֶ֖ה the shepherd, rāʿâ אֶ֥בֶן the stone ʾeben יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel:) yiśrāʾēl

מֵאֵ֨ל by the God ʾēl אָבִ֜יךָ of thy father, ʾāb וְיַעְזְרֶ֗ךָּ who shall help ʿāzar וְאֵ֤ת thee; and by ʾēt שַׁדַּי֙ the Almighty, šadday וִיבָ֣רְכֶ֔ךָּ who shall bless bārak בִּרְכֹ֤ת thee with blessings bĕrākâ שָׁמַ֙יִם֙ of heaven šāmayim מֵעָ֔ל above, ʿal בִּרְכֹ֥ת blessings bĕrākâ תְּה֖וֹם of the deep tĕhôm רֹבֶ֣צֶת that lieth rābaṣ תָּ֑חַת under, taḥat בִּרְכֹ֥ת blessings bĕrākâ שָׁדַ֖יִם of the breasts, šad וָרָֽחַם׃ and of the womb: raḥam

בִּרְכֹ֣ת The blessings bĕrākâ אָבִ֗יךָ of thy father ʾāb גָּֽבְרוּ֙ have prevailed gābar עַל above ʿal בִּרְכֹ֣ת the blessings bĕrākâ הוֹרַ֔י of my progenitors hārâ עַֽד unto ʿad תַּאֲוַ֖ת the utmost bound taʾăwâ גִּבְעֹ֣ת hills: gibʿâ עוֹלָ֑ם of the everlasting ʿôlām תִּֽהְיֶ֙ין֙ they shall be hāyâ לְרֹ֣אשׁ on the head rōš יוֹסֵ֔ף of Joseph, yôsēp וּלְקָדְקֹ֖ד and on the crown of the head qodqōd נְזִ֥יר of him that was separate from nāzîr אֶחָֽיו׃ his brethren. ʾāḥ

בִּנְיָמִין֙ Benjamin binyāmîn זְאֵ֣ב a wolf: zĕʾēb יִטְרָ֔ף shall ravin ṭārap בַּבֹּ֖קֶר in the morning bōqer יֹ֣אכַל he shall devour ʾākal עַ֑ד the prey, ʿad וְלָעֶ֖רֶב and at night ʿereb יְחַלֵּ֥ק he shall divide ḥālaq שָׁלָֽל׃ the spoil. šālāl

כָּל All kōl אֵ֛לֶּה these ʾēlle שִׁבְטֵ֥י tribes šēbeṭ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel: yiśrāʾēl שְׁנֵ֣ים šĕnayim עָשָׂ֑ר the twelve ʿāśār וְ֠זֹאת and this zōt אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֨ר spake dābar לָהֶ֤ם אֲבִיהֶם֙ their father ʾāb וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ unto them, and blessed bārak אוֹתָ֔ם them; ʾēt אִ֛ישׁ every one ʾĕnôš אֲשֶׁ֥ר ʾăšer כְּבִרְכָת֖וֹ according to his blessing bĕrākâ בֵּרַ֥ךְ he blessed bārak אֹתָֽם׃ them. ʾēt

וַיְצַ֣ו And he charged ṣāwâ אוֹתָ֗ם ʾēt וַיֹּ֤אמֶר them, and said ʾāmar אֲלֵהֶם֙ unto ʾēl אֲנִי֙ them, I ʾănî נֶֽאֱסָ֣ף am to be gathered ʾāsap אֶל unto ʾēl עַמִּ֔י my people: ʿam קִבְר֥וּ bury qābar אֹתִ֖י ʾēt אֶל me with ʾēl אֲבֹתָ֑י my fathers ʾāb אֶל in ʾēl הַ֨מְּעָרָ֔ה the cave mĕʿārâ אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer בִּשְׂדֵ֖ה in the field śāde עֶפְר֥וֹן of Ephron ʿeprôn הַֽחִתִּֽי׃ the Hittite, ḥittî

בַּמְּעָרָ֞ה In the cave mĕʿārâ אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer בִּשְׂדֵ֧ה in the field śāde הַמַּכְפֵּלָ֛ה of Machpelah, makpēlâ אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer עַל ʿal פְּנֵֽי before pānîm מַמְרֵ֖א Mamre, mamrēʾ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ כְּנָ֑עַן of Canaan, kĕnaʿan אֲשֶׁר֩ which ʾăšer קָנָ֨ה bought qānâ אַבְרָהָ֜ם Abraham ʾabrāhām אֶת with ʾēt הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה the field śāde מֵאֵ֛ת of ʾēt עֶפְרֹ֥ן Ephron ʿeprôn הַֽחִתִּ֖י the Hittite ḥittî לַֽאֲחֻזַּת for a possession ʾăḥuzzâ קָֽבֶר׃ of a buryingplace. qeber

שָׁ֣מָּה There šām קָֽבְר֞וּ they buried qābar אֶת ʾēt אַבְרָהָ֗ם Abraham ʾabrāhām וְאֵת֙ ʾēt שָׂרָ֣ה and Sarah śārâ אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ his wife; ʾiššâ שָׁ֚מָּה there šām קָֽבְר֣וּ they buried qābar אֶת ʾēt יִצְחָ֔ק Isaac yiṣḥāq וְאֵ֖ת ʾēt רִבְקָ֣ה and Rebekah ribqâ אִשְׁתּ֑וֹ his wife; ʾiššâ וְשָׁ֥מָּה and there šām קָבַ֖רְתִּי I buried qābar אֶת ʾēt לֵאָֽה׃ Leah. lēʾâ

מִקְנֵ֧ה The purchase miqne הַשָּׂדֶ֛ה of the field śāde וְהַמְּעָרָ֥ה and of the cave mĕʿārâ אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer בּ֖וֹ מֵאֵ֥ת therein from ʾēt בְּנֵי the children bēn חֵֽת׃ of Heth. ḥēt

וַיְכַ֤ל had made an end kālâ יַֽעֲקֹב֙ And when Jacob yaʿăqōb לְצַוֹּ֣ת of commanding ṣāwâ אֶת ʾēt בָּנָ֔יו his sons, bēn וַיֶּֽאֱסֹ֥ף he gathered up ʾāsap רַגְלָ֖יו his feet regel אֶל into ʾēl הַמִּטָּ֑ה the bed, miṭṭâ וַיִּגְוַ֖ע and yielded up the ghost, gāwaʿ וַיֵּאָ֥סֶף and was gathered ʾāsap אֶל unto ʾēl עַמָּֽיו׃ his people. ʿam
