நெகேமியா 9:1
அந்த மாதம் இருபத்துநாலாந்தேதியிலே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் உபவாசம்பண்ணி, இரட்டுடுத்தி, தங்கள்மேல் புழுதியைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டவர்களாய்க் கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

அந்த மாதம் இருபத்துநான்காம் தேதியிலே இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் உபவாசம்செய்து, சணல் ஆடை உடுத்தி, தங்கள்மேல் புழுதியைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டவர்களாகக் கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

பிறகு அதே மாதத்தின் 24வது நாள் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்கள் ஒரு நாள் உபவாசத்திற்காகக் கூடினார்கள். அவர்கள் துக்கத்திற்குரிய ஆடையை அணிந்தனர்; தங்கள் தலையில் சாம்பலைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டனர். இதன் மூலம் தாங்கள் துக்கமாகவும், கலக்கமாகவும் இருப்பதாகக் காட்டினார்கள்.
