நான் யூதமார்க்கத்திலிருந்தபோது என்னுடைய நடக்கையைக்குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருப்பீர்கள்; தேவனுடைய சபையை நான் மிகவும் துன்பப்படுத்தி, அதைப் பாழாக்கி;

அவனை யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசேக்கியாவும் மற்ற யூதர்களும் சேர்ந்து கொன்றுபோட்டார்களா? அவன் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து, கர்த்தரின் முகத்தை நோக்கிக் கெஞ்சினானல்லவா? அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாகச் சொல்லியிருந்த தீங்குக்கு மனவருத்தமடைந்தார்; இப்போதும், நாம் நம்முடைய ஆத்துமாவுக்கு விரோதமாக மகாபொல்லாப்பை வரச்செய்கிறவர்களாயிருக்கிறோமே.

“எசேக்கியா யூதாவின் அரசனாக இருந்தான். எசேக்கியா மீகாவைக் கொல்லவில்லை. யூதாவிலுள்ள எந்த ஜனங்களும் மீகாவைக் கொல்லவில்லை. எசேக்கியா கர்த்தரை மதித்தான் என்பது உங்களுக்குத் தெரியும். அவன் கர்த்தருக்குப் பிரியமானதைச் செய்ய விரும்பினான். யூதாவிற்குத் தீமை செய்வேன் என்று கர்த்தர் கூறியிருந்தார். ஆனால் எசேக்கியா கர்த்தரிடம் ஜெபித்தான். கர்த்தர் அவரது மனதை மாற்றிக்கொண்டார். கர்த்தர் அந்தத் தீமைகளைச் செய்யவில்லை. நாம் எரேமியாவைத் தாக்கினால் நமக்கு நாமே பல தொல்லைகளை வரவழைத்துக்கொண்டவர்களாவோம். அத்தொல்லைகளுக்கு நாமே காரணம் ஆவோம்.”

இதற்காக யூதாவின் அரசரான எசேக்கியாவும் யூதா நாடு முழுவதும் அவரைக் கொன்று போட்டார்களா? எசேக்கியா ஆண்டவருக்கு அஞ்சி, அவருடைய உதவியைக் கெஞ்சி மன்றாடவில்லையா? இதனால் ஆண்டவர் அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்திருந்த தண்டனையைக் குறித்துத் தமது மனத்தை மாற்றிக்கொள்ளவில்லையா? நாமோ நமக்கே பெரும் தீங்கை விளைவித்துக்கொள்ளப் போகிறோம்.⒫

Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.

Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? did he not fear Jehovah, and entreat the favor of Jehovah, and Jehovah repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus should we commit great evil against our own souls.

அவனை யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசேக்கியாவும் மற்ற யூதர்களும் சேர்ந்து கொன்றுபோட்டார்களா? அவன் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து, கர்த்தரின் முகத்தை நோக்கிக் கெஞ்சினானல்லவா? அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாகச் சொல்லியிருந்த தீங்குக்கு மனஸ்தாபப்பட்டார்; இப்போதும், நாம் நம்முடைய ஆத்துமாவுக்கு விரோதமாக மகா பொல்லாப்பை வரப்பண்ணுகிறவர்களாயிருக்கிறோமே.
