அவனைத் தன்னைவிட்டு அப்புறப்படுத்தி, அவனை ஆயிரம்பேருக்கு அதிபதியாக வைத்தான்; அப்படியே அவன் ஜனத்திற்கு முன்பாகப் போக்கும் வரத்துமாயிருந்தான்.

தன்னிடமிருந்து வெகுதொலைவான இடத்துக்குத் தாவீதை சவுல் அனுப்பினான். 1,000 வீரர்களுக்கு அதிகாரியாக தாவீதை ஆக்கினான். வீரர்களை போருக்கு வழி நடத்துகிறவனாயிருந்தான்.

ஆதலால், சவுல் அவரைத் தம் முன்னின்று அகற்றி, ஆயிரவர் தலைவராக்கினார். தாவீது வீரர்களை முன்னின்று நடத்தினார்.
