ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਚੇਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਗਏ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਖਮੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਵੱਧਾਨ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੂਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
