1 ਯਰੀਹੋ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਯਰੀਹੋ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਬੰਦ ਸੀ। ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਭੈਭੀਤ ਸਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਨੇੜੇ ਸਨ। ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।

2 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਦੇਖੋ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਯਰੀਹੋ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੜਾਕੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਦੇਵੋਂਗੇ।

3 ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰੋ। ਛੇ ਦਿਨਾ ਤੱਕ ਇਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਕਰੋ।

4 ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਲਈ ਆਖੋ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੱਤ ਜਣਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਡੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਗਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਖੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰਨ। ਸੱਤਵੇਂ ਦਿਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਗਿਰਦ ਸੱਤ ਵਾਰੀ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰੋ। ਸੱਤਵੇਂ ਦਿਨ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਦੋਂ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਵਜਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਖੋ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣ।

5 ਜਾਜਕ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਉੱਚਾ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਸੁਣੋ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਮਚਾਉਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖੋ। ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਵੇਂ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਧੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।”

6 ਯਰੀਹੋ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਲੜਾਈ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨੂਨ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆ ਕੀਤਾ। ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਚੁੱਕੋ। ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖੋ।”

7 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਹੁਣ, ਜਾਓ! ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਇਰਦ-ਗਿਰਦ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰੋ। ਹਥਿਆਰ ਬੰਦ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰਨਗੇ।”

8 ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੱਸਿਆ, ਸੱਤ ਜਾਜਕ ਭੇਡੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਗ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਗਏ।

9 ਹਥਿਆਰ ਬੰਦ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਵਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਭੇਡੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਗ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਗਿਰਦ ਘੁੰਮੇ।

10 ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਗ ਦਾ ਨਾਹਰਾ ਨਾ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਸ਼ੋਰ ਨਾ ਮਚਾਉ। ਉਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਮਚਾ ਸੱਕੋਂਗੇ!”

11 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਗਿਰਦ ਘੁਮਾਇਆ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਸ ਡੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਬਿਤਾਈ।

12 ਅਗਲੀ ਸਵੇਰ, ਸੁਵਖਤੇ ਹੀ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਉੱਠ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਿਆ।

13 ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਤ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਈਆਂ। ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਤੁਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਹਥਿਆਰ ਬੰਦ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਗਏ।

14 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਮਾਰਚ ਕੀਤੀ। ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਡੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਛੇ ਦਿਨਾ ਤੱਕ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਇਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ।

15 ਸੱਤਵੇਂ ਦਿਨ ਉਹ ਸਰਘੀ ਵੇਲੇ ਉੱਠ ਖਲੋਤੇ। ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਸੱਤ ਵਾਰੀ ਮਾਰਚ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਸੱਤ ਵਾਰੀ ਮਾਰਚ ਕੀਤੀ।

16 ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਸੱਤਵਾਂ ਚੱਕਰ ਕੱਢਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਵਜਾਈਆਂ। ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ: “ਹੁਣ, ਸ਼ੋਰ ਮਚਾਉ! ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ!

17 ਇਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਦੀ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈਅ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਰਾਹਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਬਚਣਗੇ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਰਾਹਾਬ ਨੇ ਦੋ ਜਸੂਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।

18 ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਹਰ ਚੀਜ਼ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦੇਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੁੱਕਣੀਆਂ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਵੋਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਆਵੋਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਣੋਗੇ।

19 ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੱਤਲ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਹੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਵੱਸ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਤੋਸ਼ੇਖਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।”

20 ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਵਜਾਈਆਂ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਮਚਾਉਣ ਲੱਗੇ। ਕੰਧਾਂ ਢਹਿ ਗਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਿਧੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵੱਲ ਦੌੜੇ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

21 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਜਾਨਦਾਰ ਸ਼ੈਅ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਨ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਢਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਵਾਨ ਔਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਢੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਜਾਨਵਰਾ, ਭੇਡਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗਧਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਇਆ।

22 ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਜਸੂਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਸਵਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਜਾਉ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਲਿਆਉ। ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਲਿਆਉ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਨ। ਅਜਿਹਾ ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਰੋ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।”

23 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਹਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਆਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ, ਮਾਤਾ, ਭਰਾਵਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ, ਬਾਹਰ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਡੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਿਠਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

24 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ, ਸੋਨੇ, ਪਿੱਤਲ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਹੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਰ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈਅ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਤੋਸ਼ੇਖਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।

25 ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਰਾਹਾਬ ਨੂੰ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ। ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਰਾਹਾਬ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਸੂਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਯਰੀਹੋ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਸੀ ਰਾਹਾਬ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

26 ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ, ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਯਰੀਹੋ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਉਸਾਰੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਗਵਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ। ਜੋ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਆਦਮੀ ਫ਼ਾਟਕ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਗਵਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ।”

27 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

2 And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

6 And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord.

7 And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the Lord.

8 And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns passed on before the Lord, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them.

9 And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

10 And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.

11 So the ark of the Lord compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.

12 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord.

13 And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the Lord, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

14 And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.

15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.

16 And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the Lord hath given you the city.

17 And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the Lord: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

18 And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

19 But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.

20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

22 But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot’s house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.

23 And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.

24 And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord.

25 And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

26 And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the Lord, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

27 So the Lord was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.
