ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਗੈਰ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਾ ਵਰਤਨੀ ਪਵੇ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤਕੜਾ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ।

ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਗੈਰ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਾ ਵਰਤਨੀ ਪਵੇ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤਕੜਾ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ।

Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

For this cause I write these things while absent, that I may not when present deal sharply, according to the authority which the Lord gave me for building up, and not for casting down.
