Psalm 40 in Tamil

1 கர்த்தருக்காகப் பொறுமையுடன் காத்திருந்தேன்; அவர் என்னிடமாய்ச் சாய்ந்து, என் கூப்பிடுதலைக் கேட்டார். I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 பயங்கரமான குழியிலும் உளையான சேற்றிலுமிருந்து என்னைத் தூக்கியெடுத்து, என் கால்களைக் கன்மலையின்மேல் நிறுத்தி, என் அடிகளை உறுதிப்படுத்தி, He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 நமது தேவனைத் துதிக்கும் புதுப்பாட்டை அவர் என் வாயிலே கொடுத்தார்; அநேகர் அதைக் கண்டு, பயந்து, கர்த்தரை நம்புவார்கள். And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

4 அகங்காரிகளையும் பொய்யைச் சார்ந்திருக்கிறவர்களையும் நோக்காமல் கர்த்தரையே தன் நம்பிக்கையாக வைக்கிற மனுஷன் பாக்கியவான். Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5 என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, நீர் எங்கள் நிமித்தஞ்செய்த உம்முடைய அதிசயங்களும் உம்முடைய யோசனைகளும் அநேகமாயிருக்கிறது; ஒருவரும் அவைகளை உமக்கு விவரித்துச்சொல்லிமுடியாது; நான் அவைகளைச் சொல்லி அறிவிக்கவேண்டுமானால் அவைகள் எண்ணிக்கைக்கு மேலானவைகள். Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

6 பலியையும் காணிக்கையையும் நீர் விரும்பாமல், என் செவிகளைத் திறந்தீர்; சர்வாங்க தகனபலியையும் பாவநிவாரணபலியையும் நீர் கேட்கவில்லை. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7 அப்பொழுது நான்: இதோ, வருகிறேன், புஸ்தகச்சுருளில் என்னைக்குறித்து எழுதியிருக்கிறது; Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

8 என் தேவனே, உமக்குப் பிரியமானதைச் செய்ய விரும்புகிறேன்; உமது நியாயப்பிரமாணம் என் உள்ளத்திற்குள் இருக்கிறது என்று சொன்னேன். I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

9 மகா சபையிலே நீதியைப் பிரசங்கித்தேன்; என் உதடுகளை மூடேன், கர்த்தாவே, நீர் அதை அறிவீர். I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

10 உம்முடைய நீதியை நான் என் இருதயத்திற்குள் மறைத்துவைக்கவில்லை; உமது சத்தியத்தையும் உமது இரட்சிப்பையும் சொல்லியிருக்கிறேன்; உமது கிருபையையும் உமது உண்மையையும் மகா சபைக்கு அறிவியாதபடிக்கு நான் ஒளித்துவைக்கவில்லை. I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 கர்த்தாவே, உம்முடைய இரக்கங்களை எனக்குக் கிடையாமற் போகப்பண்ணாதேயும்; உமது கிருபையும் உமது உண்மையும் எப்பொழுதும் என்னைக் காக்கக்கடவது. Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 எண்ணிக்கைக்கு அடங்காத தீமைகள் என்னைச் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டது, என் அக்கிரமங்கள் என்னைத் தொடர்ந்துபிடித்தது, நான் நிமிர்ந்துபார்க்கக் கூடாதிருக்கிறது, அவைகள் என் தலைமயிரிலும் அதிகமாயிருக்கிறது, என் இருதயம் சோர்ந்துபோகிறது. For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

13 கர்த்தாவே, என்னை விடுவித்தருளும்; கர்த்தாவே, எனக்குச் சகாயம்பண்ணத் தீவிரியும். Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

14 என் பிராணனை அழிக்கத் தேடுகிறவர்கள் ஏகமாய் வெட்கி நாணி, எனக்குத் தீங்குசெய்ய விரும்புகிறவர்கள் பின்னிட்டு இலச்சையடைவார்களாக. Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

15 என்பேரில் ஆ ஆ! ஆ ஆ! என்று சொல்லுகிறவர்கள், தங்கள் வெட்கத்தின் பலனையடைந்து, கைவிடப்படுவார்களாக. Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

16 உம்மைத் தேடுகிற அனைவரும் உமக்குள் மகிழ்ந்து சந்தோஷப்படுவார்களாக; உம்முடைய இரட்சிப்பை விரும்புகிறவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு மகிமை உண்டாவதாக என்று எப்பொழுதும் சொல்வார்களாக. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

17 நான் சிறுமையும் எளிமையுமானவன், கர்த்தரோ என்மேல் நினைவாயிருக்கிறார்; தேவரீர் என் துணையும் என்னை விடுவிக்கிறவருமாயிருக்கிறீர்; என் தேவனே, தாமதியாதேயும். But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

1 Karththarukkaakap poraுmaiyudan kaaththirunthaen; avar ennidamaaych saaynthu, en kooppiduthalaik kaettar. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 Payangaramaana kuliyilum ulaiyaana settilumirunthu ennaith thookkiyeduththu, en kaalkalaik kanmalaiyinmael niraுththi, en atikalai uraுthippaduththi, He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 Namathu thaevanaith thuthikkum puthuppaattaை avar en vaayilae koduththaar; anaekar athaik kanndu, payanthu, karththarai nampuvaarkal. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

4 Akangaarikalaiyum poyyaich saarnthirukkiravarkalaiyum Nnokkaamal karththaraiyae than nampikkaiyaaka vaikkira manushan paakkiyavaan. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5 En thaevanaakiya karththaavae, neer engal nimiththanjaெytha ummutaiya athisayangalum ummutaiya yosanaikalum anaekamaayirukkirathu; oruvarum avaikalai umakku vivariththuchchaொllimutiyaathu; naan avaikalaich solli arivikkavaenndumaanaal avaikal ennnnikkaikku maelaanavaikal. 6 Paliyaiyum kaannikkaiyaiyum neer virumpaamal, en sevikalaith thirantheer; sarvaanga thakanapaliyaiyum paavanivaaranapaliyaiyum neer kaetkavillai. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7 Appoluthu naan: itho, varukiraேn, pusthakachchurulil ennaikkuriththu eluthiyirukkirathu; Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

8 En thaevanae, umakkup piriyamaanathaich seyya virumpukiraேn; umathu niyaayappiramaanam en ullaththirkul irukkirathu entu sonnaen. I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

9 Makaa Sabaiyilae neethiyaip pirasangiththaen; en uthadukalai mootaen, karththaavae, neer athai ariveer. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

10 Ummutaiya neethiyai naan en iruthayaththirkul maraiththuvaikkavillai; umathu saththiyaththaiyum umathu iratchippaiyum solliyirukkiraேn; umathu kirupaiyaiyum umathu unnmaiyaiyum makaa Sabaikku ariviyaathapatikku naan oliththuvaikkavillai. I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 Karththaavae, ummutaiya irakkangalai enakkuk kitaiyaamar pokappannnnaathaeyum; umathu kirupaiyum umathu unnmaiyum eppoluthum ennaik kaakkakkadavathu. Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 Ennnnikkaikku adangaatha theemaikal ennaich soolnthukonndathu, en akkiramangal ennaith thodarnthupitiththathu, naan nimirnthupaarkkak koodaathirukkirathu, avaikal en thalaimayirilum athikamaayirukkirathu, en iruthayam sornthupokirathu. For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

13 Karththaavae, ennai viduviththarulum; karththaavae, enakkuch sakaayampannnath theeviriyum. Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

14 En piraananai alikkath thaedukiravarkal aekamaay vetki naanni, enakkuth theenguseyya virumpukiravarkal pinnittu ilachchaைyataivaarkalaaka. Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

15 Enpaeril aa aa! Aa aa! Entu sollukiravarkal, thangal vetkaththin palanaiyatainthu, kaividappaduvaarkalaaka. Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

16 Ummaith thaedukira anaivarum umakkul makilnthu santhoshappaduvaarkalaaka; ummutaiya iratchippai virumpukiravarkal karththarukku makimai unndaavathaaka entu eppoluthum solvaarkalaaka. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

17 Naan siraுmaiyum elimaiyumaanavan, karththaro enmael ninaivaayirukkiraar; thaevareer en thunnaiyum ennai viduvikkiravarumaayirukkireer; en thaevanae, thaamathiyaathaeyum. But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
