אָ֭הַבְתִּי I love ʾāhab כִּֽי because kî יִשְׁמַ֥ע׀ he hath heard šāmaʿ יְהוָ֑ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt ק֝וֹלִ֗י my voice qôl תַּחֲנוּנָֽי׃ my supplications. taḥănûn

כִּֽי Because kî הִטָּ֣ה he hath inclined nāṭâ אָזְנ֣וֹ his ear ʾōzen לִ֑י וּבְיָמַ֥י as long as I live. yôm אֶקְרָֽא׃ unto me, therefore will I call upon qārāʾ

אֲפָפ֤וּנִי׀ compassed ʾāpap חֶבְלֵי The sorrows ḥebel מָ֗וֶת of death māwet וּמְצָרֵ֣י me, and the pains mēṣar שְׁא֣וֹל of hell šĕʾôl מְצָא֑וּנִי gat hold upon māṣāʾ צָרָ֖ה trouble ṣārâ וְיָג֣וֹן and sorrow. yāgôn אֶמְצָֽא׃ me: I found māṣāʾ

וּבְשֵֽׁם I upon the name šēm יְהוָ֥ה of the Lord; yĕhōwâ אֶקְרָ֑א Then called qārāʾ אָנָּ֥ה I beseech ʾonnāʾ יְ֝הוָ֗ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ מַלְּטָ֥ה thee, deliver mālaṭ נַפְשִֽׁי׃ my soul. nepeš

חַנּ֣וּן Gracious ḥannûn יְהוָֹ֣ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְצַדִּ֑יק and righteous; ṣaddîq וֵ֖אלֹהֵ֣ינוּ yea, our God ʾĕlōhîm מְרַחֵֽם׃ merciful. rāḥam

שֹׁמֵ֣ר preserveth šāmar פְּתָאיִ֣ם the simple: pĕtî יְהוָֹ֑ה The Lord yĕhōwâ דַּ֝לֹּתִ֗י I was brought low, dālal וְלִ֣י יְהוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃ and he helped me. yāšaʿ

שׁוּבִ֣י Return šûb נַ֭פְשִׁי O my soul; nepeš לִמְנוּחָ֑יְכִי unto thy rest, mānôaḥ כִּֽי for kî יְ֝הוָ֗ה the Lord yĕhōwâ גָּמַ֥ל hath dealt bountifully gāmal עָלָֽיְכִי׃ with thee. ʿal

כִּ֤י For kî חִלַּ֥צְתָּ thou hast delivered ḥālaṣ נַפְשִׁ֗י my soul nepeš מִ֫מָּ֥וֶת from death, māwet אֶת ʾēt עֵינִ֥י mine eyes ʿayin מִן from min דִּמְעָ֑ה tears, dimʿâ אֶת ʾēt רַגְלִ֥י my feet regel מִדֶּֽחִי׃ from falling. dĕḥî

אֶ֭תְהַלֵּךְ I will walk hālak לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm יְהוָ֑ה the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּ֝אַרְצ֗וֹת in the land ʾereṣ הַֽחַיִּֽים׃ of the living. ḥay

הֶ֭אֱמַנְתִּי I believed, ʾāman כִּ֣י therefore kî אֲדַבֵּ֑ר spoken: dābar אֲ֝נִ֗י have I ʾănî עָנִ֥יתִי afflicted: ʿānâ מְאֹֽד׃ I was greatly mĕʾōd

אֲ֭נִי I ʾănî אָמַ֣רְתִּי said ʾāmar בְחָפְזִ֑י in my haste, ḥāpaz כָּֽל All kōl הָאָדָ֥ם men ʾādām כֹּזֵֽב׃ liars. kāzab

מָֽה What mâ אָשִׁ֥יב shall I render šûb לַיהוָ֑ה unto the Lord yĕhōwâ כָּֽל all kōl תַּגְמוּל֥וֹהִי his benefits tagmûl עָלָֽי׃ toward me? ʿal

כּוֹס the cup kôs יְשׁוּע֥וֹת of salvation, yĕšûʿâ אֶשָּׂ֑א I will take nāśāʾ וּבְשֵׁ֖ם upon the name šēm יְהוָ֣ה of the Lord. yĕhōwâ אֶקְרָֽא׃ and call qārāʾ

נְ֭דָרַי my vows neder לַיהוָ֣ה unto the Lord yĕhōwâ אֲשַׁלֵּ֑ם I will pay šālam נֶגְדָה in the presence neged נָּ֝֗א now nāʾ לְכָל of all kōl עַמּֽוֹ׃ his people. ʿam

יָ֭קָר Precious yāqār בְּעֵינֵ֣י in the sight ʿayin יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ הַ֝מָּ֗וְתָה the death māwet לַחֲסִידָֽיו׃ of his saints. ḥāsîd

אָֽנָּ֣ה truly ʾonnāʾ יְהוָה֮ O Lord, yĕhōwâ כִּֽי kî אֲנִ֪י I ʾănî עַ֫בְדֶּ֥ךָ thy servant; ʿebed אֲֽנִי I ʾănî עַ֭בְדְּךָ thy servant, ʿebed בֶּן the son bēn אֲמָתֶ֑ךָ of thine handmaid: ʾāmâ פִּ֝תַּ֗חְתָּ thou hast loosed pātaḥ לְמוֹסֵרָֽי׃ my bonds. môsēr

לְֽךָ אֶ֭זְבַּח I will offer zābaḥ זֶ֣בַח to thee the sacrifice zebaḥ תּוֹדָ֑ה of thanksgiving, tôdâ וּבְשֵׁ֖ם upon the name šēm יְהוָ֣ה of the Lord. yĕhōwâ אֶקְרָֽא׃ and will call qārāʾ

נְ֭דָרַי my vows neder לַיהוָ֣ה unto the Lord yĕhōwâ אֲשַׁלֵּ֑ם I will pay šālam נֶגְדָה in the presence neged נָּ֝֗א now nāʾ לְכָל of all kōl עַמּֽוֹ׃ his people, ʿam

בְּחַצְר֤וֹת׀ In the courts ḥāṣēr בֵּ֤ית house, bayit יְהוָ֗ה of the Lord's yĕhōwâ בְּֽת֘וֹכֵ֤כִי in the midst tāwek יְֽרוּשָׁלִָ֗ם of thee, O Jerusalem. yĕrûšālaim הַֽלְלוּ Praise hālal יָֽהּ׃ ye the Lord. yāh
