ଅଶୂରର ରାଜା ଆହସ୍ ତିଗ୍ଲତ-ପିଲଲଷର ନିକଟକୁ ଦୂତ ପଠାଇ କହିଲଲ, "ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଦାସ ଓ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ପୁତ୍ର ତୁଲ୍ଯ। ଦୟାକରି ଏଠାକୁ ଆସ ଓସମାଲତ ଅରାମର ରାଜାର ଓ ଇଶ୍ରାଲୟଲ ରାଜାର ଆକ୍ରମଣରୁ ରକ୍ଷା କର।"

ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜା ପକହଙ୍କେର ସମୟରେ ଅଶୂରର ରାଜା ତିଗ୍ଲତ-ପିଲଷେର ଆସି ଇୟୋନ, ଆବଲେ-ବୈଥ୍ମାଖା, ୟାନୋହକଦେେଶ, ହାତ୍ସୋର, ଗିଲିଯଦ, ଗାଲୀଲ ଓ ସମୁଦାଯ ନପ୍ତାଲି ଦେଶ ଅଧିକାର କଲା। ଆଉ ସେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ବନ୍ଦୀ କରି ଅଶୂରକୁ ନଇଗେଲା।
ହୋଶେୟ 14:3
ଅଶୂର ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରିବ ନାହିଁ। ଆମ୍ଭମାନେେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ ଅଶ୍ବ ରେ ଆରୋହଣ କରିବୁ ନାହିଁ। ଆମ୍ଭର ହସ୍ତ ନିର୍ମିତ ମୂର୍ତ୍ତିଗୁଡିକୁ 'ଆମ୍ଭର ପରମେଶ୍ବର' ବୋଲି ଆମ୍ଭେ ପୁଣି କହିବୁ ନାହିଁ। କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ହେଉଛ ସହେି ପରମେଶ୍ବର ୟିଏକି ଅନାଥକୁ ଦୟା ଦଖାେଅ ଏବଂ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦୟା କରିବ।
ଯିରିମିୟଙ୍କ ବିଳାପ 4:17

ତେଣୁ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଅଶୂର ରାଜା ପୂଲର ମନ ରେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ ନିମନ୍ତେ ୟିବା ପାଇଁ ଉତ୍ତଜେନା ସୃଷ୍ଟି କଲେ। ପୂଲ୍ ଅଶୂର ରାଜା ଥିଲେ। ତେଣୁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ତିଗ୍ଲତ-ପଲନେଷେର ମଧ୍ଯ କୁହାୟାଏ। ସେ ରୂବନେ ଓ ଗାଦ୍ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀର ମନଃଶିର ଅର୍ଦ୍ଧକେ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ସହିତ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ କଲେ। ସେ ବଳପୂର୍ବକ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ଗୃହରୁ ବିତାଡ଼ିତ କଲେ ଓ ବନ୍ଦୀ କରି ନଇଗେଲେ। ପୂଲ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ହଲଦ, ହାବୋର, ହାରା ଓ ଗୋଶନ୍ ନଦୀ ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣିଲେ। ସହେିଦିନଠାରୁ ସମାନେେ ସହେି ସ୍ଥାନ ରେ ବାସ କରୁଛନ୍ତି।

ତହୁଁ ସମାନେେ କଟି ରେ ଅଖା ପିନ୍ଧି ଓ ମୁଣ୍ତ ରେ ରଜ୍ଜୁ ବାନ୍ଧି ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜା ନିକଟକୁ ୟାଇ ବିନଯର ସହିତ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଦାସ ବିନ୍ହଦଦ୍ କହୁଛି, 'ଦୟାକରି ମାେତେ ବଞ୍ଚାନ୍ତୁ।'
