1 கர்த்தருடைய கோபம் திரும்ப இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் மூண்டது. இஸ்ரவேல் யூதா என்பவர்களை இலக்கம் பார் என்று அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய்ச் சொல்லுகிறதற்கு தாவீது ஏவப்பட்டான். And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.

2 அப்படியே ராஜா தன்னோடிருக்கிற சேனாபதியாகிய யோவாபைப் பார்த்து: ஜனங்களின் இலக்கத்தை நான் அறியும்படிக்கு நீ தாண்முதல் பெயெர்செபாமட்டுமுள்ள இஸ்ரவேலரின் கோத்திரமெங்கும் சுற்றித்திரிந்து ஜனங்களைத் தொகையிடுங்கள் என்றான். For the king said to Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the number of the people.

3 அப்பொழுது யோவாப் ராஜாவைப்பார்த்து: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய கண்கள் காணும்படி உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் ஜனங்களை இப்பொழுது இருக்கிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும், நூறுமடங்கு அதிகமாய் வர்த்திக்கப்பண்ணுவாராக; ஆனாலும் என் ஆண்டவனாகிய ராஜா இந்தக் காரியத்தை விரும்புகிறது என்ன என்றான். And Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?

4 ஆகிலும் யோவாபும் இராணுவத்தலைவரும் சொன்ன வார்த்தை செல்லாதபடிக்கு, ராஜாவின் வார்த்தை பலத்தது; அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களைத் தொகையிட, யோவாபும் இராணுவத்தலைவரும் ராஜாவைவிட்டு புறப்பட்டுப்போய், Notwithstanding the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.

5 யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, காத் என்னும் ஆறுகளின் நடுவே இருக்கிற பட்டணத்திற்கு வலதுபுறமான ஆரோவேரிலும் யாசேரிடத்திலும் பாளயமிறங்கி, And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:

6 அங்கேயிருந்து கீலேயாத்திற்கும் தாதீம்ஒத்சிக்கும் போய், அங்கேயிருந்து தாண்யானுக்கும், சீதோனின் சுற்றுப்புறங்களுக்கும் போய், Then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtimhodshi; and they came to Danjaan, and about to Zidon,

7 பிற்பாடு தீரு என்னும் கோட்டைக்கும் ஏவியர் கானானியருடைய சகல பட்டணங்களுக்கும் போய், அங்கேயிருந்து யூதாவின் தென்புறமான பெயெர்செபாவுக்குப் போய், And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, even to Beersheba.

8 இப்படி தேசமெங்கும் சுற்றித்திரிந்து, ஒன்பது மாதமும் இருபதுநாளும் ஆனபிற்பாடு எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தார்கள். So when they had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.

9 யோவாப் ஜனத்தை இலக்கம்பார்த்த தொகையை ராஜாவுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; இஸ்ரவேலிலே பட்டயம் உருவத்தக்க யுத்த சேவகர் எட்டுலட்சம்பேர் இருந்தார்கள்; யூதா மனுஷர் ஐந்து லட்சம் பேர் இருந்தார்கள். And Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.

And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

11 தாவீது காலமே எழுந்திருந்தபோது, தாவீதின் ஞானதிருஷ்டிக்காரனாகிய காத் என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசிக்குக் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை உண்டாகிச் சொன்னது: For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,

12 நீ தாவீதினிடத்தில் போய், மூன்றுகாரியங்களை உனக்கு முன்பாக வைக்கிறேன்; அவைகளில் ஒரு காரியத்தைத் தெரிந்துகொள், அதை நான் உனக்குச்செய்வேன் என்று கர்த்தர் உரைக்கிறார் என்று சொல் என்றார். Go and say unto David, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

13 அப்படியே காத் தாவீதினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய தேசத்திலே ஏழு வருஷம் பஞ்சம் வரவேண்டுமோ, அல்லது மூன்றுமாதம் உம்முடைய சத்துருக்கள் உம்மைப் பின்தொடர, நீர் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக ஓடிப்போகவேண்டுமோ? அல்லது உம்முடைய தேசத்திலே மூன்றுநாள் கொள்ளைநோய் உண்டாகவேண்டுமோ? இப்போதும் என்னை அனுப்பினவருக்கு நான் என்ன மறு உத்தரவு கொண்டுபோகவேண்டும் என்பதை நீர் யோசித்துப்பாரும் என்று சொன்னான். So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

14 அப்பொழுது தாவீது கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: கொடிய இடுக்கணில் அகப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன், இப்போது நாம் கர்த்தருடைய கையிலே விழுவோமாக; அவருடைய இரக்கங்கள் மகா பெரியது; மனுஷர் கையிலே விழாதிருப்பேனாக என்றான். And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

15 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலிலே அன்று காலமே தொடங்கி குறித்தகாலம்வரைக்கும் கொள்ளைநோயை வரப்பண்ணினார்; அதினால் தாண்முதல் பெயெர்செபாமட்டுமுள்ள ஜனங்களில் எழுபதினாயிரம்பேர் செத்துப்போனார்கள். So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.

16 தேவதூதன் எருசலேமை அழிக்கத்தன் கையை அதின்மேல் நீட்டிபோது, கர்த்தர் அந்தத் தீங்குக்கு மனஸ்தாபப்பட்டு, ஜனங்களைச் சங்கரிக்கிற தூதனை நோக்கி: போதும், இப்போது உன் கையை நிறுத்து என்றார்; அந்த வேளையில் கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் எபூசியனாகியா அர்வனாவின் போரடிக்கிற களத்திற்கு நேரே இருந்தான். And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.

And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.

18 அன்றைய தினம் காத் என்பவன் தாவீதினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் போய், எபூசியனாகிய அர்வனாவின் களத்திலே கர்த்தருக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடத்தை உண்டாக்கும் என்றான். And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.

19 காத்துடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே தாவீது கர்த்தர் கற்பித்த பிரகாரமாகப் போனான். And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the LORD commanded.

20 அர்வனா ஏறிட்டுப்பார்த்து: ராஜாவும் அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரரும் தன்னிடத்தில் வருகிறதைக்கண்டு, அர்வனா எதிர்கொண்டுபோய் தரைமட்டும்குனிந்து ராஜாவை வணங்கி, And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.

21 ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தமது அடியானிடத்தில் வருகிற காரியம் என்ன என்று கேட்டதற்கு, தாவீது: வாதை ஜனத்தைவிட்டு நிறுத்தப்படக் கர்த்தருக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டும்படிக்கு இந்தக் களத்தை உன் கையிலே கொள்ளவந்தேன் என்றான். And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

22 அர்வனா தாவீதைப் பார்த்து ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் இதை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, தம்முடைய பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடி பலியிடுவாராக; இதோ, தகனபலிக்கு மாடுகளும் விறகுக்குப் போரடிக்கிற உருளைகளும் மாடுகளின் நுகத்தடிகளும் இங்கே இருக்கிறது என்றுசொல்லி, And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

23 அர்வனா ராஜயோக்கியமாய் அவை எல்லாவற்றையும் ராஜாவுக்குக் கொடுத்தபின்பு, அர்வனா ராஜாவை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உம்மிடத்தில் கிருபையாயிருப்பாராக என்றான். All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.

24 ராஜா அர்வனாவைப் பார்த்து: அப்படியல்ல; நான் இலவசமாய் வாங்கி, என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்தாமல், அதை உன் கையிலே விலைக்கிரயமாய் வாங்குவேன் என்று சொல்லி, தாவீது அந்தக் களத்தையும் மாடுகளையும் ஐம்பது சேக்கல் நிறை வெள்ளிக்குக் கொண்டான். And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

1 Karththarutaiya kopam thirumpa isravaelinmael moonndathu. Israel yoothaa enpavarkalai ilakkam paar entu avarkalukku virothamaaych sollukiratharku David aevappattan. And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.

2 Appatiyae raajaa thannotirukkira senaapathiyaakiya yovaapaip paarththu: janangalin ilakkaththai naan ariyumpatikku nee thaannmuthal peyersepaamattumulla isravaelarin koththiramengum suttiththirinthu janangalaith thokaiyidungal entan. For the king said to Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the number of the people.

3 Appoluthu yovaap raajaavaippaarththu: raajaavaakiya en aanndavanutaiya kannkal kaanumpati ummutaiya thaevanaakiya Karththar janangalai ippoluthu irukkirathaippaarkkilum, nooraுmadangu athikamaay varththikkappannnuvaaraaka; aanaalum en aanndavanaakiya raajaa inthak kaariyaththai virumpukirathu enna entan. And Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?

4 Aakilum yovaapum iraanuvaththalaivarum sonna vaarththai sellaathapatikku, raajaavin vaarththai palaththathu; appatiyae Israel janangalaith thokaiyida, yovaapum iraanuvaththalaivarum raajaavaivittu purappattuppoy, Notwithstanding the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.

5 Yorthaanaik kadanthu, kaath ennum aaraுkalin naduvae irukkira pattanaththirku valathupuramaana aarovaerilum yaaseridaththilum paalayamirangi, And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:

6 Angaeyirunthu geelaeyaaththirkum thaatheemothsikkum poy, angaeyirunthu thaannyaanukkum, seethonin suttaுppurangalukkum poy, Then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtimhodshi; and they came to Danjaan, and about to Zidon,

7 Pirpaadu theeru ennum kottaைkkum aeviyar kaanaaniyarutaiya sakala pattanangalukkum poy, angaeyirunthu yoothaavin thenpuramaana peyersepaavukkup poy, And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, even to Beersheba.

8 Ippati thaesamengum suttiththirinthu, onpathu maathamum irupathunaalum aanapirpaadu erusalaemukku vanthaarkal. So when they had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.

10 Ivvithamaay janangalai ennnnina pinpu, raajaavin iruthayam avanai vaathiththathu; appoluthu David karththarai Nnokki: naan ippatich seythathinaalae periya paavanjaெythaen; ippothum aanndavarae, umathu atiyaanin akkiramaththai neekkividum, naan makaapuththiyeenamaaych seythaen entan. And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. 11 David kaalamae elunthirunthapothu, thaaveethin njaanathirushtikkaaranaakiya kaath ennum theerkkatharisikkuk karththarutaiya vaarththai unndaakich sonnathu: For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,

12 Nee thaaveethinidaththil poy, moontukaariyangalai unakku munpaaka vaikkiraேn; avaikalil oru kaariyaththaith therinthukol, athai naan unakkuchcheyvaen entu Karththar uraikkiraar entu sol entar. Go and say unto David, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

13 Appatiyae kaath thaaveethinidaththil vanthu, avanai Nnokki: ummutaiya thaesaththilae aelu varusham panjam varavaenndumo, allathu moontumaatham ummutaiya saththurukkal ummaip pinthodara, neer avarkalukku munpaaka otippokavaenndumo? Allathu ummutaiya thaesaththilae moontunaal kollaiNnoy unndaakavaenndumo? Ippothum ennai anuppinavarukku naan enna maraு uththaravu konndupokavaenndum enpathai neer yosiththuppaarum entu sonnaan. So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

14 Appoluthu David karththarai Nnokki: kotiya idukkannil akappattirukkiraேn, ippothu naam karththarutaiya kaiyilae viluvomaaka; avarutaiya irakkangal makaa periyathu; manushar kaiyilae vilaathiruppaenaaka entan. And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

15 Appoluthu Karththar isravaelilae antu kaalamae thodangi kuriththakaalamvaraikkum kollaiNnoyai varappannnninaar; athinaal thaannmuthal peyersepaamattumulla janangalil elupathinaayirampaer seththupponaarkal. So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.

16 Thaevathoothan erusalaemai alikkaththan kaiyai athinmael neettipothu, Karththar anthath theengukku manasthaapappattu, janangalaich sangarikkira thoothanai Nnokki: pothum, ippothu un kaiyai niraுththu entar; antha vaelaiyil karththarutaiya thoothan epoosiyanaakiyaa arvanaavin poratikkira kalaththirku naerae irunthaan. And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. 17 Janaththai upaathikkira thoothanai David kanndapothu, avan karththarai Nnokki: itho, naanthaan paavanjaெythaen; naanthaan akkiramampannnninaen; intha aadukal enna seythathu? Ummutaiya kai enakkum en thakappan veettukkum virothamaayiruppathaaka entu vinnnappampannnninaan. And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.

18 Antaiya thinam kaath enpavan thaaveethinidaththil vanthu, avanai Nnokki: neer poy, epoosiyanaakiya arvanaavin kalaththilae karththarukku oru palipeedaththai unndaakkum entan. And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.

19 Kaaththutaiya vaarththaiyinpatiyae David Karththar karpiththa pirakaaramaakap ponaan. And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the LORD commanded.

20 Arvanaa aerittuppaarththu: raajaavum avanutaiya ooliyakkaararum thannidaththil varukirathaikkanndu, arvanaa ethirkonndupoy tharaimattumkuninthu raajaavai vanangi, And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.

21 Raajaavaakiya en aanndavan thamathu atiyaanidaththil varukira kaariyam enna entu kaettatharku, David: vaathai janaththaivittu niraுththappadak karththarukku oru palipeedaththaik kattumpatikku inthak kalaththai un kaiyilae kollavanthaen entan. And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

22 Arvanaa thaaveethaip paarththu raajaavaakiya en aanndavan ithai vaangikkonndu, thammutaiya paarvaikku nalamaanapati paliyiduvaaraaka; itho, thakanapalikku maadukalum virakukkup poratikkira urulaikalum maadukalin nukaththatikalum ingae irukkirathu entusolli, And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

24 Raajaa arvanaavaip paarththu: appatiyalla; naan ilavasamaay vaangi, en thaevanaakiya karththarukku sarvaanga thakanapalikalaich seluththaamal, athai un kaiyilae vilaikkirayamaay vaanguvaen entu solli, David anthak kalaththaiyum maadukalaiyum aimpathu sekkal nirai vellikkuk konndaan. And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing.
