ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தமது அடியானிடத்தில் வருகிற காரியம் என்ன என்று கேட்டதற்கு, தாவீது: வாதை ஜனத்தைவிட்டு நிறுத்தப்படக் கர்த்தருக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டும்படிக்கு இந்தக் களத்தை உன் கையிலே கொள்ளவந்தேன் என்றான்.

ராஜாவான என்னுடைய ஆண்டவன் தமது அடியானிடத்தில் வருகிற காரியம் என்ன என்று கேட்டதற்கு, தாவீது: வாதை மக்களைவிட்டு நிறுத்தக் கர்த்தருக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டும்படி இந்தக் களத்தை உன்னுடைய கையிலே வாங்க வந்தேன் என்றான்.

பின் அர்வனா, “எனது ஆண்டவனும் அரசருமாகிய நீங்கள் ஏன் என்னிடம் வந்தீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டான். தாவீது அவனுக்கு, “உன்னிடமிருந்து போரடிக்கிற களத்தை வாங்குவதற்கு வந்தேன். அதில் கர்த்தருக்குப் பலிபீடம் அமைக்கமுடியும். அப்படி செய்து நோய் பரவாமல் தடுக்க முடியும்” என்றான்.

“என் தலைவராம் அரசர் உம் அடியானிடம் வருவதேன்?” என்று அரவுனா வினவ, தாவீது “மக்களிடமிருந்து கொள்ளைநோய் விலக ஆண்டவருக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடம் எழுப்பவேண்டும். அதற்காக உன்னிடமிருந்து உன் போரடிக்கிற களத்தை விலைக்கு வாங்க வந்தேன்” என்று கூறினார்.⒫

Raajaavaakiya en aanndavan thamathu atiyaanidaththil varukira kaariyam enna entu kaettatharku, David: vaathai janaththaivittu niraுththappadak karththarukku oru palipeedaththaik kattumpatikku inthak kalaththai un kaiyilae kollavanthaen entan.

said, וַיֹּ֨אמֶר ʾāmar ah-MAHR
And David דָּוִ֜ד dāwid da-VEED
To buy לִקְנ֧וֹת qānâ ka-NA
of מֵֽעִמְּךָ֣ ʿim eem
אֶת ʾēt ate
the threshingfloor הַגֹּ֗רֶן gōren ɡoh-REN
thee, to build לִבְנ֤וֹת bānâ ba-NA
an altar מִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ mizbēaḥ meez-BAY-ak
unto the Lord, לַֽיהוָ֔ה yĕhōwâ yeh-hoh-VA
may be stayed וְתֵֽעָצַ֥ר ʿāṣār ah-TSAHR
