1 அந்நாட்களிலே பெலிஸ்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண, தங்கள் சேனைகளைப் போருக்குக் கூட்டினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ஆகீஸ் தாவீதை நோக்கி: நீயும் உன் மனுஷரும் எவ்விதத்திலும் என்னோடேகூட யுத்தத்துக்கு வரவேண்டும் என்று அறியக்கடவாய் என்றான். And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.

2 தாவீது ஆகீசைப் பார்த்து: உம்முடைய அடியான் செய்யப்போகிறதை நீர் நிச்சயமாய் அறிந்துகொள்வீர் என்றான்; அப்பொழுது ஆகீஸ் தாவீதை நோக்கி: இதற்காக உன்னை எந்நாளும் எனக்கு மெய்காவலனாக வைப்பேன் என்றான். And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.

3 சாமுவேல் இதற்கு முன்னமே மரித்துப்போனான்; இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரும் அவனுக்குத் துக்கங்கொண்டாடி, அவன் ஊராகிய ராமாவிலே அவனை அடக்கம் பண்ணினார்கள். சவுல் அஞ்சனம் பார்க்கிறவர்களையும் குறிசொல்லுகிறவர்களையும் தேசத்தில் இராதபடிக்குத் துரத்தி விட்டான். Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.

4 பெலிஸ்தர் கூடிவந்து, சூநேமிலே பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்; சவுலும் இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரையும் கூட்டினான்; அவர்கள் கில்போவாவிலே பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள். And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.

5 சவுல் பெலிஸ்தரின் பாளயத்தைக் கண்டபோது பயந்தான்; அவன் இருதயம் மிகவும் தத்தளித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தது. And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.

6 சவுல் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரிக்கும் போது, கர்த்தர் அவனுக்குச் சொப்பனங்களினாலாவது, ஊரீமினாலாவது, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளினாலாவது மறு உத்தரவு அருளவில்லை. And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

7 அப்பொழுது சவுல் தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: அஞ்சனம்பார்க்கிற ஒரு ஸ்திரீயைத் தேடுங்கள்; நான் அவளிடத்தில் போய் விசாரிப்பேன் என்றான்; அதற்கு அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர்: இதோ, எந்தோரில் அஞ்சனம்பார்க்கிற ஒரு ஸ்திரீ இருக்கிறாள் என்றார்கள். Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

8 அப்பொழுது சவுல் வேஷம் மாறி, வேறு வஸ்திரம் தரித்துக்கொண்டு, அவனும் அவனோடேகூட இரண்டுபேரும் இராத்திரியிலே அந்த ஸ்திரீயினிடத்தில் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தார்கள்; அவளை அவன் நோக்கி: நீ அஞ்சனம்பார்த்து எனக்குக் குறிசொல்லி, நான் உன்னிடத்தில் சொல்லுகிறவனை எழும்பிவரச்செய் என்றான். And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.

9 அதற்கு அந்த ஸ்திரீ: சவுல் அஞ்சனம் பார்க்கிறவர்களையும் குறிசொல்லுகிறவர்களையும் தேசத்தில் இராதபடிக்கு நிர்மூலமாக்கின செய்தியை நீர் அறிவீரே; என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடும்படி நீர் என் பிராணனுக்குக் கண்ணிவைக்கிறது என்ன என்றாள். And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

10 அப்பொழுது சவுல்: இந்தக் காரியத்திற்காக உனக்குப் பொல்லாப்பு வராது என்பதைக் கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று அவளுக்குக் கர்த்தர்மேல் ஆணையிட்டான். And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

11 அப்பொழுது அந்த ஸ்திரீ: உமக்கு நான் யாரை எழும்பிவரப் பண்ண வேண்டும் என்றதற்கு, அவன்: சாமுவேலை எழும்பிவரப்பண்ணவேண்டும் என்றான். Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

12 அந்த ஸ்திரீ சாமுவேலைக் கண்டமாத்திரத்தில் மகா சத்தமாய்க் கூப்பிட்டு, சவுலை நோக்கி: ஏன் என்னை மோசம்போக்கினீர்? நீர்தான் சவுலாச்சுதே என்றாள். And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.

13 ராஜா அவளைப் பார்த்து: நீ பயப்படாதே; நீ காண்கிறது என்ன என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அந்த ஸ்திரீ: தேவர்கள் பூமிக்குள்ளிருந்து ஏறிவருகிறதைக் காண்கிறேன் என்று சவுலுக்குச் சொன்னாள். And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

14 அவருடைய ரூபம் என்ன என்று அவளைக் கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவள்: சால்வையைப் போர்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிற ஒரு முதிர்ந்த வயதான மனுஷன் எழும்பிவருகிறான் என்றாள்: அதினாலே சவுல் அவன் சாமுவேல் என்று அறிந்து கொண்டு, தரைமட்டும் முகங்குனிந்து வணங்கினான். And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

15 சாமுவேல் சவுலை நோக்கி: நீ என்னை எழும்பிவரப்பண்ணி, என்னைக் கலைத்தது என்ன என்று கேட்டான். அதற்குச் சவுல்: நான் மிகவும் நெருக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்; பெலிஸ்தர் எனக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; தேவனும் என்னைக் கைவிட்டார்; அவர் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளினாலாவது, சொப்பனங்களினாலாவது எனக்கு மறு உத்தரவு அருளுகிறதில்லை; ஆகையால் நான் செய்யவேண்டியதை நீர் எனக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படிக்கு, உம்மை அழைப்பித்தேன் என்றான். And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

16 அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்: கர்த்தர் உன்னைவிட்டு விலகி, உனக்குச் சத்துருவாய் இருக்கும்போது, நீ என்னிடத்தில் கேட்பானேன்? Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?

17 கர்த்தர் என்னைக்கொண்டு சொன்னபடியே செய்து முடித்து, ராஜ்யத்தை உன் கையிலிருந்து பறித்து, அதை உன் தோழனாகிய தாவீதுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிட்டார். And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbor, even to David:

18 நீ கர்த்தருடைய சொற்கேளாமலும், அமலேக்கின்மேல் அவருக்கு இருந்த கோபத்தின் உக்கிரத்தைத் தீர்க்காமலும் போனபடியினால், கர்த்தர் இன்றைய தினம் உனக்கு இந்தப் பிரகாரமாகச் செய்தார். Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.

19 கர்த்தர் உன்னுடைய ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலரையும் பெலிஸ்தர் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்; நாளைக்கு நீயும் உன் குமாரரும் என்னோடிருப்பீர்கள்; இஸ்ரவேலின் பாளயத்தையும் கர்த்தர் பெலிஸ்தரின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றான். Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

20 அந்தணமே சவுல் நெடிதாங்கிடையாய்த் தரையிலே விழுந்து, சாமுவேலின் வார்த்தைகளினாலே மிகவும் பயப்பட்டான்; அவன் இராப்பகல் முழுதும் ஒன்றும் சாப்பிடாதிருந்தபடியினால், அவன் பலவீனமாயிருந்தான். Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.

21 அப்பொழுது அந்த ஸ்திரீ சவுலிடத்தில் வந்து, அவன் மிகவும் கலங்கியிருக்கிறதைக் கண்டு, அவனை நோக்கி: இதோ, உம்முடைய அடியாளாகிய நான் உம்முடைய சொற்கேட்டு, என் பிராணனை என் கையிலே பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, நீர் எனக்குச் சொன்ன உம்முடைய வார்த்தைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தேன். And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.

22 இப்பொழுது நீர் உம்முடைய அடியாளுடைய சொல்லைக் கேளும், நான் உமக்கு முன்பாகக் கொஞ்சம் அப்பம் வைக்கிறேன், அதைப் புசிப்பீராக: அப்பொழுது நீர் வழிநடந்து போகத்தக்க பெலன் உமக்குள் இருக்கும் என்றாள். Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.

23 அவனோ தட்டுதல்பண்ணி, நான் புசிக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான்; ஆனாலும் அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரரும் அந்த ஸ்திரீயும் அவனை மிகவும் வருந்திக்கொண்டதினால், அவன் அவர்கள் சொற்கேட்டு, தரையிலிருந்து எழுந்திருந்து கட்டிலின் மேல் உட்கார்ந்தான். But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.

24 அந்த ஸ்திரீயினிடத்தில் கொழுத்தகன்றுக்குட்டி ஒன்று வீட்டில் இருந்தது; அதைத் தீவிரமாய் அடித்து, மா எடுத்துப் பிசைந்து, அதைப் புளிப்பில்லா அப்பங்களாகச் சுட்டு, And the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof:

25 சவுலுக்கும் அவன் ஊழியக்காரருக்கும் முன்பாகக் கொண்டுவந்து வைத்தாள்; அவர்கள் புசித்து எழுந்திருந்து, அந்த இராத்திரியிலேயே புறப்பட்டுப் போனார்கள். And she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.

1 Annaatkalilae pelisthar isravaelinmael yuththampannna, thangal senaikalaip porukkuk koottinaarkal; appoluthu aagees thaaveethai Nnokki: neeyum un manusharum evvithaththilum ennotaekooda yuththaththukku varavaenndum entu ariyakkadavaay entan. And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.

2 David aageesaip paarththu: ummutaiya atiyaan seyyappokirathai neer nichchayamaay arinthukolveer entan; appoluthu aagees thaaveethai Nnokki: itharkaaka unnai ennaalum enakku meykaavalanaaka vaippaen entan. And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.

3 Saamuvael itharku munnamae mariththupponaan; isravaelar ellaarum avanukkuth thukkangaொnndaati, avan ooraakiya raamaavilae avanai adakkam pannnninaarkal. Savul anjanam paarkkiravarkalaiyum kurisollukiravarkalaiyum thaesaththil iraathapatikkuth thuraththi vittan. Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.

4 Pelisthar kootivanthu, soonaemilae paalayamiranginaarkal; savulum isravaelar ellaaraiyum koottinaan; avarkal kilpovaavilae paalayamiranginaarkal. And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.

5 Savul pelistharin paalayaththaik kanndapothu payanthaan; avan iruthayam mikavum thaththaliththukkonntirunthathu. And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.

6 Savul karththaridaththil visaarikkum pothu, Karththar avanukkuch soppanangalinaalaavathu, ooreeminaalaavathu, theerkkatharisikalinaalaavathu maraு uththaravu arulavillai. And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

7 Appoluthu savul than ooliyakkaararai Nnokki: anjanampaarkkira oru sthireeyaith thaedungal; naan avalidaththil poy visaarippaen entan; atharku avanutaiya ooliyakkaarar: itho, enthoril anjanampaarkkira oru sthiree irukkiraal entarkal. Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

8 Appoluthu savul vaesham maari, vaeraு vasthiram thariththukkonndu, avanum avanotaekooda iranndupaerum iraaththiriyilae antha sthireeyinidaththil poych sernthaarkal; avalai avan Nnokki: nee anjanampaarththu enakkuk kurisolli, naan unnidaththil sollukiravanai elumpivarachchey entan. And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.

9 Atharku antha sthiree: savul anjanam paarkkiravarkalaiyum kurisollukiravarkalaiyum thaesaththil iraathapatikku nirmoolamaakkina seythiyai neer ariveerae; ennaik kontupodumpati neer en piraananukkuk kannnnivaikkirathu enna ental. And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

10 Appoluthu savul: inthak kaariyaththirkaaka unakkup pollaappu varaathu enpathaik karththarutaiya jeevanaik konndu sollukiraேn entu avalukkuk Karththarmael aannaiyittan. And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

11 Appoluthu antha sthiree: umakku naan yaarai elumpivarap pannna vaenndum entatharku, avan: saamuvaelai elumpivarappannnavaenndum entan. Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

12 Antha sthiree saamuvaelaik kanndamaaththiraththil makaa saththamaayk kooppittu, savulai Nnokki: aen ennai mosampokkineer? Neerthaan savulaachchuthae ental. And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.

13 Raajaa avalaip paarththu: nee payappadaathae; nee kaannkirathu enna entu kaettan. Atharku antha sthiree: thaevarkal poomikkullirunthu aerivarukirathaik kaannkiraேn entu savulukkuch sonnaal. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

14 Avarutaiya roopam enna entu avalaik kaettan. Atharku aval: saalvaiyaip porththukkonntirukkira oru muthirntha vayathaana manushan elumpivarukiraan ental: athinaalae savul avan saamuvael entu arinthu konndu, tharaimattum mukanguninthu vananginaan. And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

15 Saamuvael savulai Nnokki: nee ennai elumpivarappannnni, ennaik kalaiththathu enna entu kaettan. Atharkuch savul: naan mikavum nerukkappattirukkiraேn; pelisthar enakku virothamaay yuththampannnukiraarkal; thaevanum ennaik kaivittar; avar theerkkatharisikalinaalaavathu, soppanangalinaalaavathu enakku maraு uththaravu arulukirathillai; aakaiyaal naan seyyavaenntiyathai neer enakku arivikkumpatikku, ummai alaippiththaen entan. And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

16 Atharkuch saamuvael: Karththar unnaivittu vilaki, unakkuch saththuruvaay irukkumpothu, nee ennidaththil kaetpaanaen? Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?

17 Karththar ennaikkonndu sonnapatiyae seythu mutiththu, raajyaththai un kaiyilirunthu pariththu, athai un tholanaakiya Davidkkuk koduththuvittar. And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbor, even to David:

18 Nee karththarutaiya sorkaelaamalum, amalaekkinmael avarukku iruntha kopaththin ukkiraththaith theerkkaamalum ponapatiyinaal, Karththar intaiya thinam unakku inthap pirakaaramaakach seythaar. Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.

19 Karththar unnutaiya janamaakiya isravaelaraiyum pelisthar kaiyil oppukkoduppaar; naalaikku neeyum un kumaararum ennotiruppeerkal; isravaelin paalayaththaiyum Karththar pelistharin kaiyil oppukkoduppaar entan. Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

20 Anthanamae savul netithaangitaiyaayth tharaiyilae vilunthu, saamuvaelin vaarththaikalinaalae mikavum payappattan; avan iraappakal muluthum ontum saappidaathirunthapatiyinaal, avan palaveenamaayirunthaan. Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.

21 Appoluthu antha sthiree savulidaththil vanthu, avan mikavum kalangiyirukkirathaik kanndu, avanai Nnokki: itho, ummutaiya atiyaalaakiya naan ummutaiya sorkaettu, en piraananai en kaiyilae pitiththukkonndu, neer enakkuch sonna ummutaiya vaarththaikalukkuk geelppatinthaen. And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.

22 Ippoluthu neer ummutaiya atiyaalutaiya sollaik kaelum, naan umakku munpaakak konjam appam vaikkiraேn, athaip pusippeeraaka: appoluthu neer valinadanthu pokaththakka pelan umakkul irukkum ental. Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.

23 Avano thattuthalpannnni, naan pusikkamaattaேn entan; aanaalum avanutaiya ooliyakkaararum antha sthireeyum avanai mikavum varunthikkonndathinaal, avan avarkal sorkaettu, tharaiyilirunthu elunthirunthu kattilin mael utkaarnthaan. But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.

24 Antha sthireeyinidaththil koluththakantukkutti ontu veettil irunthathu; athaith theeviramaay atiththu, maa eduththup pisainthu, athaip pulippillaa appangalaakach suttu, And the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof:

25 Savulukkum avan ooliyakkaararukkum munpaakak konnduvanthu vaiththaal; avarkal pusiththu elunthirunthu, antha iraaththiriyilaeyae purappattup ponaarkal. And she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
