Nehemiah 1:3
അതിന്നു അവർ എന്നോടു: പ്രവാസത്തിൽനിന്നു തെറ്റി ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി ശേഷിപ്പു അവിടെ ആ സംസ്ഥാനത്തു മഹാകഷ്ടത്തിലും അപമാനത്തിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നു; യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ മതിൽ ഇടിഞ്ഞും അതിന്റെ വാതിലുകൾ തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടും കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

| left are | אֲשֶֽׁר | ʾăšer | uh-SHER |
| of | נִשְׁאֲר֤וּ | nišʾărû | neesh-uh-ROO |
| the captivity | מִן | min | meen |
| there | הַשְּׁבִי֙ | haššĕbiy | ha-sheh-VEE |
| in the province | שָׁ֣ם | šām | shahm |
| great in are | בַּמְּדִינָ֔ה | bammĕdînâ | ba-meh-dee-NA |
| affliction | בְּרָעָ֥ה | bĕrāʿâ | beh-ra-AH |
| and reproach: | גְדֹלָ֖ה | gĕdōlâ | ɡeh-doh-LA |
| wall the | וּבְחֶרְפָּ֑ה | ûbĕḥerpâ | oo-veh-her-PA |
| of Jerusalem | וְחוֹמַ֤ת | wĕḥômat | veh-hoh-MAHT |
| down, broken is also | יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ | yĕrûšālaim | yeh-roo-sha-la-EEM |
| and the gates | מְפֹרָ֔צֶת | mĕpōrāṣet | meh-foh-RA-tset |
| burned are thereof | וּשְׁעָרֶ֖יהָ | ûšĕʿārêhā | oo-sheh-ah-RAY-ha |
| with fire. | נִצְּת֥וּ | niṣṣĕtû | nee-tseh-TOO |
| בָאֵֽשׁ׃ | bāʾēš | va-AYSH |
