അവൻ വഴിയരികെയുള്ള ആട്ടിൻ തൊഴുത്തിങ്കൽ എത്തി; അവിടെ ഒരു ഗുഹ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ശൌൽ കാൽമടക്കത്തിന്നു അതിൽ കടന്നു; എന്നാൽ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും ഗുഹയുടെ ഉള്ളിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്നു.

And he came	וַ֠יָּבֹא	wayyābōʾ	VA-ya-voh
to	אֶל	ʾel	el
the sheepcotes	גִּדְר֨וֹת	gidrôt	ɡeed-ROTE
	הַצֹּ֤אן	haṣṣōn	ha-TSONE
by	עַל	ʿal	al
way, the	הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙	hadderek	ha-DEH-rek
where	וְשָׁ֣ם	wĕšām	veh-SHAHM
was a cave;	מְעָרָ֔ה	mĕʿārâ	meh-ah-RA
and Saul	וַיָּבֹ֥א	wayyābōʾ	va-ya-VOH
in went	שָׁא֖וּל	šāʾûl	sha-OOL
to cover	לְהָסֵ֣ךְ	lĕhāsēk	leh-ha-SAKE
	אֶת	ʾet	et
his feet:	רַגְלָ֑יו	raglāyw	rahɡ-LAV
and David	וְדָוִד֙	wĕdāwid	veh-da-VEED
men his and	וַֽאֲנָשָׁ֔יו	waʾănāšāyw	va-uh-na-SHAV
remained	בְּיַרְכְּתֵ֥י	bĕyarkĕtê	beh-yahr-keh-TAY
in the sides	הַמְּעָרָ֖ה	hammĕʿārâ	ha-meh-ah-RA
of the cave.	יֹֽשְׁבִֽים׃	yōšĕbîm	YOH-sheh-VEEM
