וַיְדַבֵּ֧ר spake dābar יְהוָ֛ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses mōše וְאֶֽל and to ʾēl אַהֲרֹ֖ן Aaron, ʾahărôn לֵאמֹ֥ר saying ʾāmar אֲלֵהֶֽם׃ unto them, ʾēl

דַּבְּר֛וּ Speak dābar אֶל unto ʾēl בְּנֵ֥י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar זֹ֤את These zōt הַֽחַיָּה֙ the beasts ḥay אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer תֹּֽאכְל֔וּ ye shall eat ʾākal מִכָּל among all kōl הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה the beasts bĕhēmâ אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer עַל on ʿal הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth. ʾereṣ

כֹּ֣ל׀ Whatsoever kōl מַפְרֶ֣סֶת parteth pāras פַּרְסָ֗ה the hoof, parsâ וְשֹׁסַ֤עַת and is clovenfooted, šāsaʿ שֶׁ֙סַע֙ šesaʿ פְּרָסֹ֔ת parsâ מַֽעֲלַ֥ת cheweth ʿālâ גֵּרָ֖ה the cud, gērâ בַּבְּהֵמָ֑ה among the beasts, bĕhēmâ אֹתָ֖הּ ʾēt תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ that shall ye eat. ʾākal

אַ֤ךְ Nevertheless ʾak אֶת ʾēt זֶה֙ these ze לֹ֣א shall ye not lōʾ תֹֽאכְל֔וּ eat ʾākal מִֽמַּעֲלֵי֙ of them that chew ʿālâ הַגֵּרָ֔ה the cud, gērâ וּמִמַּפְרִסֵ֖י or of them that divide pāras הַפַּרְסָ֑ה the hoof: parsâ אֶֽת ʾēt הַ֠גָּמָל the camel, gāmāl כִּֽי because kî מַעֲלֵ֨ה cheweth ʿālâ גֵרָ֜ה the cud, gērâ ה֗וּא he hûʾ וּפַרְסָה֙ the hoof; parsâ אֵינֶ֣נּוּ not ʾayin מַפְרִ֔יס but divideth pāras טָמֵ֥א unclean unto you. ṭāmēʾ ה֖וּא he hûʾ לָכֶֽם׃

וְאֶת ʾēt הַשָּׁפָ֗ן And the coney, šāpān כִּֽי because kî מַעֲלֵ֤ה cheweth ʿālâ גֵרָה֙ the cud, gērâ ה֔וּא he hûʾ וּפַרְסָ֖ה the hoof; parsâ לֹ֣א not lōʾ יַפְרִ֑יס but divideth pāras טָמֵ֥א unclean unto you. ṭāmēʾ ה֖וּא he hûʾ לָכֶֽם׃

וְאֶת ʾēt הָֽאַרְנֶ֗בֶת And the hare, ʾarnebet כִּֽי because kî מַעֲלַ֤ת cheweth ʿālâ גֵּרָה֙ the cud, gērâ הִ֔וא he hûʾ וּפַרְסָ֖ה the hoof; parsâ לֹ֣א not lōʾ הִפְרִ֑יסָה but divideth pāras טְמֵאָ֥ה unclean unto you. ṭāmēʾ הִ֖וא he hûʾ לָכֶֽם׃

וְאֶת ʾēt הַֽ֠חֲזִיר And the swine, ḥăzîr כִּֽי though kî מַפְרִ֨יס divide pāras פַּרְסָ֜ה the hoof, parsâ ה֗וּא he hûʾ וְשֹׁסַ֥ע and be clovenfooted, šāsaʿ שֶׁ֙סַע֙ šesaʿ פַּרְסָ֔ה parsâ וְה֖וּא yet he hûʾ גֵּרָ֣ה the cud; gērâ לֹֽא not lōʾ יִגָּ֑ר cheweth gārar טָמֵ֥א unclean to you. ṭāmēʾ ה֖וּא he hûʾ לָכֶֽם׃

מִבְּשָׂרָם֙ Of their flesh bāśār לֹ֣א shall ye not lōʾ תֹאכֵ֔לוּ eat, ʾākal וּבְנִבְלָתָ֖ם and their carcase nĕbēlâ לֹ֣א shall ye not lōʾ תִגָּ֑עוּ touch; nāgaʿ טְמֵאִ֥ים unclean to you. ṭāmēʾ הֵ֖ם they hēm לָכֶֽם׃

אֶת ʾēt זֶה֙ These ze תֹּֽאכְל֔וּ shall ye eat ʾākal מִכֹּ֖ל of all kōl אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer בַּמָּ֑יִם in the waters: mayim כֹּ֣ל whatsoever kōl אֲשֶׁר ʾăšer לוֹ֩ סְנַפִּ֨יר hath fins sĕnappîr וְקַשְׂקֶ֜שֶׂת and scales qaśqeśet בַּמַּ֗יִם in the waters, mayim בַּיַּמִּ֛ים in the seas, yām וּבַנְּחָלִ֖ים and in the rivers, naḥal אֹתָ֥ם ʾēt תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ them shall ye eat. ʾākal

וְכֹל֩ And all kōl אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer אֵֽין have not ʾayin ל֜וֹ סְנַפִּ֣יר fins sĕnappîr וְקַשְׂקֶ֗שֶׂת and scales qaśqeśet בַּיַּמִּים֙ in the seas, yām וּבַנְּחָלִ֔ים and in the rivers, naḥal מִכֹּל֙ of all kōl שֶׁ֣רֶץ that move šereṣ הַמַּ֔יִם in the waters, mayim וּמִכֹּ֛ל and of any kōl נֶ֥פֶשׁ thing nepeš הַֽחַיָּ֖ה living ḥay אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer בַּמָּ֑יִם in the waters, mayim שֶׁ֥קֶץ an abomination unto you: šeqeṣ הֵ֖ם they hēm לָכֶֽם׃

וְשֶׁ֖קֶץ even an abomination šeqeṣ יִֽהְי֣וּ They shall be hāyâ לָכֶ֑ם מִבְּשָׂרָם֙ of their flesh, bāśār לֹ֣א unto you; ye shall not lōʾ תֹאכֵ֔לוּ eat ʾākal וְאֶת ʾēt נִבְלָתָ֖ם but ye shall have their carcases nĕbēlâ תְּשַׁקֵּֽצוּ׃ in abomination. šāqaṣ

כֹּ֣ל Whatsoever kōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר ʾăšer אֵֽין hath no ʾayin ל֛וֹ סְנַפִּ֥יר fins sĕnappîr וְקַשְׂקֶ֖שֶׂת nor scales qaśqeśet בַּמָּ֑יִם in the waters, mayim שֶׁ֥קֶץ an abomination unto you. šeqeṣ ה֖וּא that hûʾ לָכֶֽם׃

וְאֶת ʾēt אֵ֙לֶּה֙ And these ʾēlle תְּשַׁקְּצ֣וּ ye shall have in abomination šāqaṣ מִן among min הָע֔וֹף the fowls; ʿôp לֹ֥א they shall not lōʾ יֵאָֽכְל֖וּ be eaten, ʾākal שֶׁ֣קֶץ an abomination: šeqeṣ הֵ֑ם they hēm אֶת ʾēt הַנֶּ֙שֶׁר֙ the eagle, nešer וְאֶת ʾēt הַפֶּ֔רֶס and the ossifrage, peres וְאֵ֖ת ʾēt הָֽעָזְנִיָּֽה׃ and the ospray, ʿozniyyâ

וְאֶת ʾēt הַ֨דָּאָ֔ה And the vulture, dāʾâ וְאֶת ʾēt הָֽאַיָּ֖ה and the kite ʾayyâ לְמִינָֽהּ׃ after his kind; mîn

אֵ֥ת ʾēt כָּל Every kōl עֹרֵ֖ב raven ʿōrēb לְמִינֽוֹ׃ after his kind; mîn

וְאֵת֙ ʾēt בַּ֣ת And the owl, bat הַֽיַּעֲנָ֔ה yaʿănâ וְאֶת ʾēt הַתַּחְמָ֖ס and the night hawk, taḥmās וְאֶת ʾēt הַשָּׁ֑חַף and the cuckow, šaḥap וְאֶת ʾēt הַנֵּ֖ץ and the hawk nēṣ לְמִינֵֽהוּ׃ after his kind, mîn

וְאֶת ʾēt הַכּ֥וֹס And the little owl, kôs וְאֶת ʾēt הַשָּׁלָ֖ךְ and the cormorant, šālok וְאֶת ʾēt הַיַּנְשֽׁוּף׃ and the great owl, yanšûp

וְאֶת ʾēt הַתִּנְשֶׁ֥מֶת And the swan, tanšemet וְאֶת ʾēt הַקָּאָ֖ת and the pelican, qāʾat וְאֶת ʾēt הָֽרָחָֽם׃ and the gier eagle, rāḥām

וְאֵת֙ ʾēt הַֽחֲסִידָ֔ה And the stork, ḥăsîdâ הָֽאֲנָפָ֖ה the heron ʾănāpâ לְמִינָ֑הּ after her kind, mîn וְאֶת ʾēt הַדּֽוּכִיפַ֖ת and the lapwing, dûkîpat וְאֶת ʾēt הָֽעֲטַלֵּֽף׃ and the bat. ʿăṭallēp

כֹּ֚ל All kōl שֶׁ֣רֶץ that creep, šereṣ הָע֔וֹף fowls ʿôp הַֽהֹלֵ֖ךְ going hālak עַל upon ʿal אַרְבַּ֑ע four, ʾarbaʿ שֶׁ֥קֶץ an abomination unto you. šeqeṣ ה֖וּא hûʾ לָכֶֽם׃

אַ֤ךְ Yet ʾak אֶת ʾēt זֶה֙ these ze תֹּֽאכְל֔וּ may ye eat ʾākal מִכֹּל֙ of every kōl שֶׁ֣רֶץ creeping thing šereṣ הָע֔וֹף flying ʿôp הַֽהֹלֵ֖ךְ that goeth hālak עַל upon ʿal אַרְבַּ֑ע four, ʾarbaʿ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer לֹא lōʾ כְרָעַ֙יִם֙ have legs kārāʿ מִמַּ֣עַל above maʿal לְרַגְלָ֔יו their feet, regel לְנַתֵּ֥ר to leap nātar בָּהֵ֖ן withal hēn עַל upon ʿal הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth; ʾereṣ

אֶת ʾēt אֵ֤לֶּה these ʾēlle מֵהֶם֙ hēm תֹּאכֵ֔לוּ of them ye may eat; ʾākal אֶת ʾēt הָֽאַרְבֶּ֣ה the locust ʾarbe לְמִינ֔וֹ after his kind, mîn וְאֶת ʾēt הַסָּלְעָ֖ם and the bald locust solʿām לְמִינֵ֑הוּ after his kind, mîn וְאֶת ʾēt הַֽחַרְגֹּ֣ל and the beetle ḥorgōl לְמִינֵ֔הוּ after his kind, mîn וְאֶת ʾēt הֶֽחָגָ֖ב and the grasshopper ḥāgāb לְמִינֵֽהוּ׃ after his kind. mîn

וְכֹל֙ But all kōl שֶׁ֣רֶץ creeping things, šereṣ הָע֔וֹף flying ʿôp אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer ל֖וֹ אַרְבַּ֣ע have four ʾarbaʿ רַגְלָ֑יִם feet, regel שֶׁ֥קֶץ an abomination unto you. šeqeṣ ה֖וּא hûʾ לָכֶֽם׃

וּלְאֵ֖לֶּה And for these ʾēlle תִּטַּמָּ֑אוּ ye shall be unclean: ṭāmēʾ כָּל whosoever kōl הַנֹּגֵ֥עַ toucheth nāgaʿ בְּנִבְלָתָ֖ם the carcase nĕbēlâ יִטְמָ֥א of them shall be unclean ṭāmēʾ עַד until ʿad הָעָֽרֶב׃ the even. ʿereb

וְכָל And whosoever kōl הַנֹּשֵׂ֖א beareth nāśāʾ מִנִּבְלָתָ֑ם of the carcase nĕbēlâ יְכַבֵּ֥ס of them shall wash kābas בְּגָדָ֖יו his clothes, beged וְטָמֵ֥א and be unclean ṭāmēʾ עַד until ʿad הָעָֽרֶב׃ the even. ʿereb

לְֽכָל of every kōl הַבְּהֵמָ֡ה beast bĕhēmâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer הִוא֩ hûʾ מַפְרֶ֨סֶת divideth pāras פַּרְסָ֜ה the hoof, parsâ וְשֶׁ֣סַע׀ šāsaʿ אֵינֶ֣נָּה and not ʾayin שֹׁסַ֗עַת clovenfooted, šesaʿ וְגֵרָה֙ the cud, gērâ אֵינֶ֣נָּה nor ʾayin מַֽעֲלָ֔ה cheweth ʿālâ טְמֵאִ֥ים unclean ṭāmēʾ הֵ֖ם hēm לָכֶ֑ם כָּל unto you: every one kōl הַנֹּגֵ֥עַ that toucheth nāgaʿ בָּהֶ֖ם יִטְמָֽא׃ them shall be unclean. ṭāmēʾ

וְכֹ֣ל׀ And whatsoever kōl הוֹלֵ֣ךְ goeth hālak עַל upon ʿal כַּפָּ֗יו his paws, kap בְּכָל among all manner kōl הַֽחַיָּה֙ of beasts ḥay הַֽהֹלֶ֣כֶת that go hālak עַל on ʿal אַרְבַּ֔ע four, ʾarbaʿ טְמֵאִ֥ים unclean ṭāmēʾ הֵ֖ם those hēm לָכֶ֑ם כָּל unto you: whoso kōl הַנֹּגֵ֥עַ toucheth nāgaʿ בְּנִבְלָתָ֖ם their carcase nĕbēlâ יִטְמָ֥א shall be unclean ṭāmēʾ עַד until ʿad הָעָֽרֶב׃ the even. ʿereb

וְהַנֹּשֵׂא֙ And he that beareth nāśāʾ אֶת ʾēt נִבְלָתָ֔ם the carcase nĕbēlâ יְכַבֵּ֥ס of them shall wash kābas בְּגָדָ֖יו his clothes, beged וְטָמֵ֣א and be unclean ṭāmēʾ עַד until ʿad הָעָ֑רֶב the even: ʿereb טְמֵאִ֥ים unclean unto you. ṭāmēʾ הֵ֖מָּה they hēm לָכֶֽם׃

וְזֶ֤ה These ze לָכֶם֙ הַטָּמֵ֔א also unclean ṭāmēʾ בַּשֶּׁ֖רֶץ unto you among the creeping things šereṣ הַשֹּׁרֵ֣ץ that creep šāraṣ עַל upon ʿal הָאָ֑רֶץ the earth; ʾereṣ הַחֹ֥לֶד the weasel, ḥōled וְהָֽעַכְבָּ֖ר and the mouse, ʿakbār וְהַצָּ֥ב and the tortoise ṣāb לְמִינֵֽהוּ׃ after his kind, mîn

וְהָֽאֲנָקָ֥ה And the ferret, ʾănāqâ וְהַכֹּ֖חַ and the chameleon, kōaḥ וְהַלְּטָאָ֑ה and the lizard, lĕṭāʾâ וְהַחֹ֖מֶט and the snail, ḥōmeṭ וְהַתִּנְשָֽׁמֶת׃ and the mole. tanšemet

אֵ֛לֶּה These ʾēlle הַטְּמֵאִ֥ים unclean ṭāmēʾ לָכֶ֖ם בְּכָל to you among all kōl הַשָּׁ֑רֶץ that creep: šereṣ כָּל whosoever kōl הַנֹּגֵ֧עַ doth touch nāgaʿ בָּהֶ֛ם בְּמֹתָ֖ם them, when they be dead, māwet יִטְמָ֥א shall be unclean ṭāmēʾ עַד until ʿad הָעָֽרֶב׃ the even. ʿereb

וְכֹ֣ל whatsoever kōl אֲשֶׁר ʾăšer יִפֹּל doth fall, nāpal עָלָיו֩ And upon ʿal מֵהֶ֨ם׀ hēm בְּמֹתָ֜ם of them, when they are dead, māwet יִטְמָ֗א it shall be unclean; ṭāmēʾ מִכָּל whether any kōl כְּלִי vessel kĕlî עֵץ֙ of wood, ʿēṣ א֣וֹ or ʾô בֶ֤גֶד raiment, beged אוֹ or ʾô עוֹר֙ skin, ʿôr א֣וֹ or ʾô שָׂ֔ק sack, śaq כָּל whatsoever kōl כְּלִ֕י vessel kĕlî אֲשֶׁר wherein ʾăšer יֵֽעָשֶׂ֥ה is done, ʿāśâ מְלָאכָ֖ה work mĕlāʾkâ בָּהֶ֑ם בַּמַּ֧יִם into water, mayim יוּבָ֛א it must be put bôʾ וְטָמֵ֥א and it shall be unclean ṭāmēʾ עַד until ʿad הָעֶ֖רֶב the even; ʿereb וְטָהֵֽר׃ so it shall be cleansed. ṭāhēr

וְכָל And every kōl כְּלִי vessel, kĕlî חֶ֔רֶשׂ earthen ḥereś אֲשֶׁר whereinto ʾăšer יִפֹּ֥ל of them falleth, nāpal מֵהֶ֖ם hēm אֶל ʾēl תּוֹכ֑וֹ tāwek כֹּ֣ל whatsoever kōl אֲשֶׁ֧ר ʾăšer בְּתוֹכ֛וֹ in tāwek יִטְמָ֖א it shall be unclean; ṭāmēʾ וְאֹת֥וֹ ʾēt תִשְׁבֹּֽרוּ׃ and ye shall break it. šābar

מִכָּל Of all kōl הָאֹ֜כֶל meat ʾōkel אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer יֵֽאָכֵ֗ל may be eaten, ʾākal אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer יָב֥וֹא cometh bôʾ עָלָ֛יו on ʿal מַ֖יִם water mayim יִטְמָ֑א shall be unclean: ṭāmēʾ וְכָל and all kōl מַשְׁקֶה֙ drink mašqe אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer יִשָּׁתֶ֔ה may be drunk šātâ בְּכָל in every kōl כְּלִ֖י vessel kĕlî יִטְמָֽא׃ shall be unclean. ṭāmēʾ

וְ֠כֹל And every kōl אֲשֶׁר whereupon ʾăšer יִפֹּ֨ל falleth nāpal מִנִּבְלָתָ֥ם׀ of their carcase nĕbēlâ עָלָיו֮ ʿal יִטְמָא֒ shall be unclean; ṭāmēʾ תַּנּ֧וּר oven, tannûr וְכִירַ֛יִם or ranges kîr יֻתָּ֖ץ for pots, they shall be broken down: nātaṣ טְמֵאִ֣ים unclean, ṭāmēʾ הֵ֑ם they hēm וּטְמֵאִ֖ים unclean unto you. ṭāmēʾ יִֽהְי֥וּ and shall be hāyâ לָכֶֽם׃

אַ֣ךְ Nevertheless ʾak מַעְיָ֥ן a fountain maʿyān וּב֛וֹר or pit, bôr מִקְוֵה plenty miqwe מַ֖יִם of water, mayim יִֽהְיֶ֣ה shall be hāyâ טָה֑וֹר clean: ṭāhôr וְנֹגֵ֥עַ but that which toucheth nāgaʿ בְּנִבְלָתָ֖ם their carcase nĕbēlâ יִטְמָֽא׃ shall be unclean. ṭāmēʾ

וְכִ֤י And if kî יִפֹּל֙ fall nāpal מִנִּבְלָתָ֔ם of their carcase nĕbēlâ עַל upon ʿal כָּל any kōl זֶ֥רַע seed zeraʿ זֵר֖וּעַ sowing zērûaʿ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer יִזָּרֵ֑עַ is to be sown, zāraʿ טָה֖וֹר clean. ṭāhôr הֽוּא׃ it hûʾ

וְכִ֤י But if kî יֻתַּן be put nātan מַ֙יִם֙ water mayim עַל upon ʿal זֶ֔רַע the seed, zeraʿ וְנָפַ֥ל fall nāpal מִנִּבְלָתָ֖ם and of their carcase nĕbēlâ עָלָ֑יו thereon, ʿal טָמֵ֥א unclean unto you. ṭāmēʾ ה֖וּא it hûʾ לָכֶֽם׃

וְכִ֤י And if kî יָמוּת֙ die; mût מִן of min הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה any beast, bĕhēmâ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer הִ֥יא hûʾ לָכֶ֖ם לְאָכְלָ֑ה ye may eat, ʾoklâ הַנֹּגֵ֥עַ he that toucheth nāgaʿ בְּנִבְלָתָ֖הּ the carcase nĕbēlâ יִטְמָ֥א thereof shall be unclean ṭāmēʾ עַד until ʿad הָעָֽרֶב׃ the even. ʿereb

וְהָֽאֹכֵל֙ And he that eateth ʾākal מִנִּבְלָתָ֔הּ of the carcase nĕbēlâ יְכַבֵּ֥ס of it shall wash kābas בְּגָדָ֖יו his clothes, beged וְטָמֵ֣א and be unclean ṭāmēʾ עַד until ʿad הָעָ֑רֶב the even: ʿereb וְהַנֹּשֵׂא֙ he also that beareth nāśāʾ אֶת ʾēt נִבְלָתָ֔הּ the carcase nĕbēlâ יְכַבֵּ֥ס of it shall wash kābas בְּגָדָ֖יו his clothes, beged וְטָמֵ֥א and be unclean ṭāmēʾ עַד until ʿad הָעָֽרֶב׃ the even. ʿereb

כֹּל֩ Whatsoever kōl הוֹלֵ֨ךְ goeth hālak עַל upon ʿal גָּח֜וֹן the belly, gāḥôn וְכֹ֣ל׀ and whatsoever kōl הוֹלֵ֣ךְ goeth hālak עַל upon ʿal אַרְבַּ֗ע four, ʾarbaʿ עַ֚ד ʿad כָּל or whatsoever kōl מַרְבֵּ֣ה hath more rābâ רַגְלַ֔יִם feet regel לְכָל among all kōl הַשֶּׁ֖רֶץ creeping things šereṣ הַשֹּׁרֵ֣ץ that creep šāraṣ עַל upon ʿal הָאָ֑רֶץ the earth, ʾereṣ לֹ֥א them ye shall not lōʾ תֹֽאכְל֖וּם eat; ʾākal כִּי for kî שֶׁ֥קֶץ an abomination. šeqeṣ הֵֽם׃ they hēm

אַל Ye shall not ʾal תְּשַׁקְּצוּ֙ abominable šāqaṣ אֶת ʾēt נַפְשֹׁ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם make yourselves nepeš בְּכָל with any kōl הַשֶּׁ֖רֶץ creeping thing šereṣ הַשֹּׁרֵ֑ץ that creepeth, šāraṣ וְלֹ֤א neither lōʾ תִֽטַּמְּאוּ֙ with them, that ye should be defiled thereby. ṭāmēʾ בָּהֶ֔ם וְנִטְמֵתֶ֖ם shall ye make yourselves unclean ṭāmâ בָּֽם׃

כִּ֣י For kî אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî יְהוָה֮ the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֒ your God: ʾĕlōhîm וְהִתְקַדִּשְׁתֶּם֙ ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, qādaš וִֽהְיִיתֶ֣ם and ye shall be hāyâ קְדֹשִׁ֔ים holy; qādôš כִּ֥י for kî קָד֖וֹשׁ holy: qādôš אָ֑נִי I ʾănî וְלֹ֤א neither lōʾ תְטַמְּאוּ֙ shall ye defile ṭāmēʾ אֶת ʾēt נַפְשֹׁ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם yourselves nepeš בְּכָל with any manner kōl הַשֶּׁ֖רֶץ of creeping thing šereṣ הָֽרֹמֵ֥שׂ that creepeth rāmaś עַל upon ʿal הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth. ʾereṣ

כִּ֣י׀ For kî אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî יְהוָ֗ה the Lord yĕhōwâ הַֽמַּעֲלֶ֤ה that bringeth ʿālâ אֶתְכֶם֙ you up ʾēt מֵאֶ֣רֶץ out of the land ʾereṣ מִצְרַ֔יִם of Egypt, miṣrayim לִֽהְיֹ֥ת to be hāyâ לָכֶ֖ם לֵֽאלֹהִ֑ים your God: ʾĕlōhîm וִֽהְיִיתֶ֣ם ye shall therefore be hāyâ קְדֹשִׁ֔ים holy, qādôš כִּ֥י for kî קָד֖וֹשׁ holy. qādôš אָֽנִי׃ I ʾănî

זֹ֣את This zōt תּוֹרַ֤ת the law tôrâ הַבְּהֵמָה֙ of the beasts, bĕhēmâ וְהָע֔וֹף and of the fowl, ʿôp וְכֹל֙ and of every kōl נֶ֣פֶשׁ creature nepeš הַֽחַיָּ֔ה living ḥay הָֽרֹמֶ֖שֶׂת that moveth rāmaś בַּמָּ֑יִם in the waters, mayim וּלְכָל and of every kōl נֶ֖פֶשׁ creature nepeš הַשֹּׁרֶ֥צֶת that creepeth šāraṣ עַל upon ʿal הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth: ʾereṣ

לְהַבְדִּ֕יל To make a difference bādal בֵּ֥ין between bên הַטָּמֵ֖א the unclean ṭāmēʾ וּבֵ֣ין and between bên הַטָּהֹ֑ר and the clean, ṭāhôr וּבֵ֤ין bên הַֽחַיָּה֙ the beast ḥay הַֽנֶּאֱכֶ֔לֶת that may be eaten ʾākal וּבֵין֙ bên הַֽחַיָּ֔ה and the beast ḥay אֲשֶׁ֖ר that ʾăšer לֹ֥א may not lōʾ תֵֽאָכֵֽל׃ be eaten. ʾākal
