ಶವ್ಷನು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಯೆಹೋಯಾದನ ಮಗನಾದ ಬೆನಾಯನು ಕೆರೇತ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಪೆಲೇತ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅಧಿಪತಿ ಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ದಾವೀದನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಅವನು ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಪಾಲು ಮಾಡಿ ಒಂದು ಪಾಲನ್ನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೂ ಇನ್ನೊಂದನ್ನು ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗನೂ ಯೋವಾಬನ ತಮ್ಮನೂ ಆದ ಅಬೀಷೈಗೂ ಮತ್ತೊಂದನ್ನು ಗಿತ್ತೀಯನಾದ ಇತ್ತೈಗೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ--ನಾನೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಗಿತ್ತೀಯನಾದ ಇತ್ತೈಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ--ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುವದು ಯಾಕೆ? ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಅರಸನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವನಾದ ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದವನು.

ದಾವೀದನು ಕರ್ತನ ಮಂಜೂಷವನ್ನು ತಾನು ದಾವೀದನ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ತರಲು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಗತ್‌ ಊರಿನ ಒಬೇದೆದೋಮನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದನು.

ದಾವೀದನು ಗತ್‌ ಊರಿನವ ನಾದ ಆಕೀಷನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಾನೂ ತನ್ನ ಜನರೂ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಪ್ರತಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯವರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಯರಾದ ಇಜ್ರೇಲಿಯಳಾದ ಅಹೀನೋವಮಳೂ ಕರ್ಮೆಲಿಯಳಾದ ನಾಬಾಲನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಬೀಗೈಲಳೂ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದರು.
