ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್ ಜನರು ಯೆಹೂದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ಅರಸನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಪಾಲುಂಟು; ನಿಮಗಿಂತ ನಮಗೆ ದಾವೀದನ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆಯು ಅಧಿಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವದರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ದವರು ನಾವಲ್ಲವೋ? ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಯಾಕೆ ಅಲ್ಪವಾಗಿ ಎಣಿಸಿದಿರಿ ಅಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಯೆಹೂದ ಜನರ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಕಠಿಣವಾಗಿದ್ದವು.

1 ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಕುಲದವನಾದ ಬಿಕ್ರೀಯಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ಶೆಬನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಬೆಲಿಯಾಳನವನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ತುತೂರಿಯನ್ನು ಊದಿ--ನಮಗೆ ದಾವೀದನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಓ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗುಡಾರಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.

ಆದದರಿಂದ ದಾವೀದನು ಅಬೀಷೈಗೆಈಗ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗಿಂತ ಬಿಕ್ರಿಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಶೆಬನು ನಮಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವನು. ಅವನು ತನಗೆ ಗಡಿ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಾದ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾ ದಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೊರಟು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟು ಅಂದನು.
1 ಅರಸುಗಳು 11:30
ಅವನು ಹೊಸ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಹೊದ್ದು ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು. ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂಟಿಯಾ ಗಿದ್ದರು. ಆಗ ಅಹೀಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರುವ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ತುಂಡುಗಳಾಗಿ ಹರಿದು ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನಿಗೆ--ಈ ಹತ್ತು ತುಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ.

ಅರಸನು ಅವರ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳದೆ ಹೋದನೆಂದು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಜನರು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ದಾವೀದನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಭಾಗವೇನು? ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಏನು? ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್ಯರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಡೇರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿರಿ; ದಾವೀ ದನೇ, ಈಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೋ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಡೇರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.
