1 Samuel 30:12
ಅವನಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಸಿ ಅಂಜೂರದ ಫಲದ ಅಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ತುಂಡನ್ನೂ ಒಣಗಿದ ಎರಡು ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷೇ ಗೊಂಚಲುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ಪ್ರಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಚೇತರಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡನು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವನು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹಗಲು ಮೂರು ದಿವಸದಿಂದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ತಿಂದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ನೀರನ್ನೂ ಕುಡಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಆದರೆ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಯೋನಾತಾನನು ಕೇಳದೆ ಇದ್ದ ಕಾರಣ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಚಾಚಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಜೇನು ತೊಟ್ಟಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದಿ ತನ್ನ ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕಳೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವು.

ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನನ್ನು--ನೀನು ಯಾರವನು? ನೀನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯವನು ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು--ನಾನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನು. ಈ ಮೂರು ದಿವಸ ನಾನು ರೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋದನು.
