Genesis 21 in Kannada

1 ಕರ್ತನು ತಾನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಸಾರಳನ್ನು ದರ್ಶಿಸಿ ತಾನು ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ ಸಾರಳಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

2 ದೇವರು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಮುಂತಿ ಳಿಸಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಸಾರಳು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಅವನು ಮುದುಕನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಳು.

3 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ತನಗೆ ಸಾರಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ಇಸಾಕನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.

4 ದೇವರು ತನಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಸಾಕನಿಗೆ ಎಂಟನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುನ್ನತಿಮಾಡಿದನು.

5 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಸಾಕನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ನೂರು ವರುಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

6 ಆಗ ಸಾರಳು--ದೇವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಕೇಳುವವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಗುವರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ--

7 ಸಾರಳು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮೊಲೆ ಕುಡಿಸುವಳೆಂದು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಯಾರಾ ದರೂ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೋ? ಆದರೂ ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮುದಿಪ್ರಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತೆನು ಅಂದಳು.

8 ಆ ಮಗುವು ಬೆಳೆದು ಮೊಲೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿತು; ಇಸಾಕನನ್ನು ಮೊಲೆ ಬಿಡಿಸಿದ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಔತಣವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.

9 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯ ಳಾದ ಹಾಗರಳು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹೆತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮಗನು ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಾಡುವದನ್ನು ಸಾರಳು ನೋಡಿ

10 ಅಬ್ರ ಹಾಮನಿಗೆ--ಈ ದಾಸಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅವಳ ಮಗನನ್ನೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕು; ಈ ದಾಸಿಯ ಮಗನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಸಾಕನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾಧ್ಯನಾಗಬಾರದು ಅಂದಳು.

11 ಈ ಮಾತು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಅವನ ಮಗನ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಬಹು ದುಃಖಕರವಾಗಿ ತೋಚಿತು.

12 ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ--ಹುಡುಗನ ಮತ್ತು ದಾಸಿಯ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ವ್ಯಥೆಯಾಗದೆ ಇರಲಿ; ಸಾರಳು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಕೇಳು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಇಸಾಕನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಯು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪ ಡುವದು.

13 ದಾಸಿಯ ಮಗನು ಸಹ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತಾನವಾಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಜನಾಂಗ ವಾಗ ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

14 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೀರಿನ ತಿತ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹಾಗರಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಕೆಯ ಹೆಗಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರಿಸಿ ಆ ಹುಡುಗನ ಸಂಗಡ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಆಕೆಯು ಹೋಗಿ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದ ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುವವ ಳಾದಳು.

15 ತಿತ್ತಿಯೊಳಗಿನ ನೀರು ಮುಗಿದಾಗ ಆಕೆಯು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಗಿಡಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದರ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಮಲಗಿಸಿ

16 ಬಿಲ್ಲೆಸೆಯುವಷ್ಟು ದೂರ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಕೂತುಕೊಂಡು--ಮಗುವಿನ ಸಾವನ್ನು ನಾನು ನೋಡಲಾರೆನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಆಕೆಯು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವರವೆತ್ತಿ ಅತ್ತಳು.

17 ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಆ ಹುಡುಗನ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ದೇವದೂತನು ಆಕಾಶದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಹಾಗರಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಆಕೆಗೆ--ಹಾಗರಳೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ವ್ಯಥೆಯೇನು? ಅಂಜಬೇಡ; ದೇವರು ಹುಡುಗನ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಅವನು ಇದ್ದಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

18 ಎದ್ದು ಹುಡುಗನನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಕ್ಕೋ; ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜನಾಂಗವಾಗ ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

19 ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಆಕೆಯ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದನು; ಆಕೆಯು ನೀರಿನ ಬಾವಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ತಿತ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಸಿ ಹುಡುಗನಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯಲು ಕೊಟ್ಟಳು.

20 ದೇವರು ಆ ಹುಡುಗನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಬೆಳೆದು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿ ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಾರ ನಾದನು.

21 ಅವನು ಪಾರಾನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯು ಅವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದಿಂದ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡಳು.

22 ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನೂ ಅವನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಫೀಕೋಲನೂ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮ ನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಮಾಡುವದೆಲ್ಲದರಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ.

23 ಆದದರಿಂದ ನನಗೂ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಿಗೂ ನನ್ನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನಿಗೂ ವಂಚನೆಮಾಡುವ ದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ದೇವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟು ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡು. ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನೀನು ನನಗೂ ನೀನು ಪ್ರವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೂ ಮಾಡ ಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.

24 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು-- ನಾನು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.

25 ಅಬೀ ಮೆಲೆಕನ ಸೇವಕರು ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡ ನೀರಿನ ಬಾವಿಗಾಗಿ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಿದಾಗ

26 ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನು--ಈ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಯಾರು ಮಾಡಿದರೆಂದು ನಾನು ಅರಿಯೆನು; ನೀನೂ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ನಾನು ಇಂದಿನ ವರೆಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲೂ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.

27 ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಕುರಿಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು; ಆಗ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

28 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಹಿಂಡಿನ ಏಳು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಕುರಿಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬೇರೆಮಾಡಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.

29 ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ಈ ಏಳು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಕುರಿಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದೀ ಅಂದನು.

30 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನುನಾನೇ ಈ ಬಾವಿಯನ್ನು ತೊಡಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆಂಬದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಾಗಿ ಈ ಏಳು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಕುರಿಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.

31 ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬ ಎಂದು ಅವನು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.

32 ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರು ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ತರುವಾಯ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನೂ ಅವನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿ ಪತಿಯಾದ ಫೀಕೋಲನೂ ಎದ್ದು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದರು.

33 ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದಲ್ಲಿ ತೋಪನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟು (ಪಿಚುಲ ವೃಕ್ಷ) ನಿತ್ಯದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿದನು.

34 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹು ದಿವಸ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

1 And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken.

2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.

4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.

5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.

6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.

7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.

8 And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.

9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son.

12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.

15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.

21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest:

23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.

24 And Abraham said, I will swear.

25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.

26 And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to day.

27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.

28 And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?

30 And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.

31 Wherefore he called that place Beer-sheba; because there they sware both of them.

32 Thus they made a covenant at Beer-sheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.

33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the everlasting God.

34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines’ land many days.

1 ಕರ್ತನು ತಾನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಸಾರಳನ್ನು ದರ್ಶಿಸಿ ತಾನು ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ ಸಾರಳಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

2 ದೇವರು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಮುಂತಿ ಳಿಸಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಸಾರಳು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಅವನು ಮುದುಕನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಳು.

3 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ತನಗೆ ಸಾರಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ಇಸಾಕನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.

4 ದೇವರು ತನಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಸಾಕನಿಗೆ ಎಂಟನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುನ್ನತಿಮಾಡಿದನು.

5 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಸಾಕನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ನೂರು ವರುಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

6 ಆಗ ಸಾರಳು--ದೇವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಕೇಳುವವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಗುವರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ--

7 ಸಾರಳು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮೊಲೆ ಕುಡಿಸುವಳೆಂದು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಯಾರಾ ದರೂ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೋ? ಆದರೂ ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮುದಿಪ್ರಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತೆನು ಅಂದಳು.

8 ಆ ಮಗುವು ಬೆಳೆದು ಮೊಲೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿತು; ಇಸಾಕನನ್ನು ಮೊಲೆ ಬಿಡಿಸಿದ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಔತಣವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.

9 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯ ಳಾದ ಹಾಗರಳು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹೆತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮಗನು ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಾಡುವದನ್ನು ಸಾರಳು ನೋಡಿ

10 ಅಬ್ರ ಹಾಮನಿಗೆ--ಈ ದಾಸಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅವಳ ಮಗನನ್ನೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕು; ಈ ದಾಸಿಯ ಮಗನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಸಾಕನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾಧ್ಯನಾಗಬಾರದು ಅಂದಳು.

11 ಈ ಮಾತು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಅವನ ಮಗನ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಬಹು ದುಃಖಕರವಾಗಿ ತೋಚಿತು.

12 ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ--ಹುಡುಗನ ಮತ್ತು ದಾಸಿಯ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ವ್ಯಥೆಯಾಗದೆ ಇರಲಿ; ಸಾರಳು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಕೇಳು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಇಸಾಕನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಯು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪ ಡುವದು.

13 ದಾಸಿಯ ಮಗನು ಸಹ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತಾನವಾಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಜನಾಂಗ ವಾಗ ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

14 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೀರಿನ ತಿತ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹಾಗರಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಕೆಯ ಹೆಗಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರಿಸಿ ಆ ಹುಡುಗನ ಸಂಗಡ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಆಕೆಯು ಹೋಗಿ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದ ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡುವವ ಳಾದಳು.

15 ತಿತ್ತಿಯೊಳಗಿನ ನೀರು ಮುಗಿದಾಗ ಆಕೆಯು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಗಿಡಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದರ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಮಲಗಿಸಿ

16 ಬಿಲ್ಲೆಸೆಯುವಷ್ಟು ದೂರ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಕೂತುಕೊಂಡು--ಮಗುವಿನ ಸಾವನ್ನು ನಾನು ನೋಡಲಾರೆನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಆಕೆಯು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವರವೆತ್ತಿ ಅತ್ತಳು.

17 ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಆ ಹುಡುಗನ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ದೇವದೂತನು ಆಕಾಶದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಹಾಗರಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಆಕೆಗೆ--ಹಾಗರಳೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ವ್ಯಥೆಯೇನು? ಅಂಜಬೇಡ; ದೇವರು ಹುಡುಗನ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಅವನು ಇದ್ದಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

18 ಎದ್ದು ಹುಡುಗನನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಕ್ಕೋ; ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜನಾಂಗವಾಗ ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

19 ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಆಕೆಯ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದನು; ಆಕೆಯು ನೀರಿನ ಬಾವಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ತಿತ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಸಿ ಹುಡುಗನಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯಲು ಕೊಟ್ಟಳು.

20 ದೇವರು ಆ ಹುಡುಗನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಬೆಳೆದು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿ ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಾರ ನಾದನು.

21 ಅವನು ಪಾರಾನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯು ಅವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದಿಂದ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡಳು.

22 ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನೂ ಅವನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಫೀಕೋಲನೂ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮ ನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಮಾಡುವದೆಲ್ಲದರಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ.

23 ಆದದರಿಂದ ನನಗೂ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಿಗೂ ನನ್ನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನಿಗೂ ವಂಚನೆಮಾಡುವ ದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ದೇವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟು ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡು. ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನೀನು ನನಗೂ ನೀನು ಪ್ರವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೂ ಮಾಡ ಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.

24 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು-- ನಾನು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.

25 ಅಬೀ ಮೆಲೆಕನ ಸೇವಕರು ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡ ನೀರಿನ ಬಾವಿಗಾಗಿ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಿದಾಗ

26 ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನು--ಈ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಯಾರು ಮಾಡಿದರೆಂದು ನಾನು ಅರಿಯೆನು; ನೀನೂ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ನಾನು ಇಂದಿನ ವರೆಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲೂ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.

27 ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಕುರಿಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು; ಆಗ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

28 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಹಿಂಡಿನ ಏಳು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಕುರಿಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬೇರೆಮಾಡಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.

29 ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ಈ ಏಳು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಕುರಿಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದೀ ಅಂದನು.

30 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನುನಾನೇ ಈ ಬಾವಿಯನ್ನು ತೊಡಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆಂಬದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಾಗಿ ಈ ಏಳು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಕುರಿಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.

31 ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬ ಎಂದು ಅವನು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.

32 ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರು ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ತರುವಾಯ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನೂ ಅವನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿ ಪತಿಯಾದ ಫೀಕೋಲನೂ ಎದ್ದು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದರು.

33 ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದಲ್ಲಿ ತೋಪನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟು (ಪಿಚುಲ ವೃಕ್ಷ) ನಿತ್ಯದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿದನು.

34 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹು ದಿವಸ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

1 And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken.

2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.

4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.

5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.

6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.

7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.

8 And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.

9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son.

12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.

15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.

21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest:

23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.

24 And Abraham said, I will swear.

25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.

26 And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to day.

27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.

28 And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?

30 And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.

31 Wherefore he called that place Beer-sheba; because there they sware both of them.

32 Thus they made a covenant at Beer-sheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.

33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the everlasting God.

34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines’ land many days.
