וַיִּקָּ֨הֲל֜וּ assembled together qāhal כָּל And the whole kōl עֲדַ֤ת congregation ʿēdâ בְּנֵֽי of the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiśrāʾēl שִׁלֹ֔ה at Shiloh, šîlō וַיַּשְׁכִּ֥ינוּ and set up šākan שָׁ֖ם there. šām אֶת ʾēt אֹ֣הֶל the tabernacle ʾōhel מוֹעֵ֑ד of the congregation môʿēd וְהָאָ֥רֶץ And the land ʾereṣ נִכְבְּשָׁ֖ה was subdued kābaš לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ before them. pānîm

וַיִּוָּֽתְרוּ֙ And there remained yātar בִּבְנֵ֣י among the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer לֹֽא had not lōʾ חָלְק֖וּ yet received ḥālaq אֶת ʾēt נַֽחֲלָתָ֑ם their inheritance. naḥălâ שִׁבְעָ֖ה seven šebaʿ שְׁבָטִֽים׃ tribes, šēbeṭ

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ And Joshua yĕhôšûaʿ אֶל unto ʾēl בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl עַד How long ʿad אָ֙נָה֙ ʾān אַתֶּ֣ם ye ʾattâ מִתְרַפִּ֔ים slack rāpâ לָבוֹא֙ to go bôʾ לָרֶ֣שֶׁת to possess yāraš אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֔רֶץ the land, ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁר֙ which ʾăšer נָתַ֣ן hath given you? nātan לָכֶ֔ם יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֥י God ʾĕlōhîm אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃ of your fathers ʾāb

הָב֥וּ Give out yāhab לָכֶ֛ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה from among you three šālôš אֲנָשִׁ֖ים men ʾîš לַשָּׁ֑בֶט for tribe: šēbeṭ וְאֶשְׁלָחֵ֗ם and I will send šālaḥ וְיָקֻ֜מוּ them, and they shall rise, qûm וְיִֽתְהַלְּכ֥וּ and go hālak בָאָ֛רֶץ through the land, ʾereṣ וְיִכְתְּב֥וּ and describe kātab אוֹתָ֛הּ ʾēt לְפִ֥י it according pe נַֽחֲלָתָ֖ם to the inheritance naḥălâ וְיָבֹ֥אוּ of them; and they shall come bôʾ אֵלָֽי׃ to me. ʾēl

וְהִֽתְחַלְּק֥וּ And they shall divide ḥālaq אֹתָ֖הּ ʾēt לְשִׁבְעָ֣ה it into seven šebaʿ חֲלָקִ֑ים parts: ḥēleq יְהוּדָ֞ה Judah yĕhûdâ יַֽעֲמֹ֤ד shall abide ʿāmad עַל in ʿal גְּבוּלוֹ֙ their coast gĕbûl מִנֶּ֔גֶב on the south, negeb וּבֵ֥ית and the house bayit יוֹסֵ֛ף of Joseph yôsēp יַֽעַמְד֥וּ shall abide ʿāmad עַל in ʿal גְּבוּלָ֖ם their coasts gĕbûl מִצָּפֽוֹן׃ on the north. ṣāpôn

וְאַתֶּ֞ם Ye ʾattâ תִּכְתְּב֤וּ shall therefore describe kātab אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ the land ʾereṣ שִׁבְעָ֣ה seven šebaʿ חֲלָקִ֔ים parts, ḥēleq וַֽהֲבֵאתֶ֥ם and bring bôʾ אֵלַ֖י to ʾēl הֵ֑נָּה hither hēnnâ וְיָרִ֨יתִי me, that I may cast yārâ לָכֶ֤ם גּוֹרָל֙ lots gôrāl פֹּ֔ה for you here pō לִפְנֵ֖י before pānîm יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ our God. ʾĕlōhîm

כִּ֠י But kî אֵֽין have no ʾayin חֵ֤לֶק part ḥēleq לַלְוִיִּם֙ the Levites lēwiyyî בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֔ם among qereb כִּֽי you; for kî כְהֻנַּ֥ת the priesthood kĕhunnâ יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ נַֽחֲלָת֑וֹ their inheritance: naḥălâ וְגָ֡ד and Gad, gād וּרְאוּבֵ֡ן and Reuben, rĕʾûbēn וַֽחֲצִי֩ and half ḥēṣî שֵׁ֨בֶט the tribe šēbeṭ הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֜ה of Manasseh, mĕnašše לָֽקְח֣וּ have received lāqaḥ נַֽחֲלָתָ֗ם their inheritance naḥălâ מֵעֵ֤בֶר beyond ʿēber לַיַּרְדֵּן֙ Jordan yardēn מִזְרָ֔חָה on the east, mizrāḥ אֲשֶׁר֙ which ʾăšer נָתַ֣ן gave them. nātan לָהֶ֔ם מֹשֶׁ֖ה Moses mōše עֶ֥בֶד the servant ʿebed יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord yĕhōwâ

וַיָּקֻ֥מוּ arose, qûm הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֖ים And the men ʾĕnôš וַיֵּלֵ֑כוּ and went away: hālak וַיְצַ֣ו charged ṣāwâ יְהוֹשֻׁ֡עַ and Joshua yĕhôšûaʿ אֶת ʾēt הַהֹֽלְכִים֩ them that went hālak לִכְתֹּ֨ב to describe kātab אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֜רֶץ the land, ʾereṣ לֵאמֹ֗ר saying, ʾāmar לְ֠כוּ Go hālak וְהִתְהַלְּכ֨וּ and walk hālak בָאָ֜רֶץ through the land, ʾereṣ וְכִתְב֤וּ and describe kātab אוֹתָהּ֙ ʾēt וְשׁ֣וּבוּ it, and come again šûb אֵלַ֔י to ʾēl וּ֠פֹה me, that I may here pō אַשְׁלִ֨יךְ cast šālak לָכֶ֥ם גּוֹרָ֛ל lots gôrāl לִפְנֵ֥י for you before pānîm יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּשִׁלֹֽה׃ in Shiloh. šîlō

וַיֵּֽלְכ֤וּ went hālak הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ And the men ʾĕnôš וַיַּֽעַבְר֣וּ and passed through ʿābar בָאָ֔רֶץ the land, ʾereṣ וַיִּכְתְּב֧וּהָ and described kātab לֶֽעָרִ֛ים it by cities ʿîr לְשִׁבְעָ֥ה into seven šebaʿ חֲלָקִ֖ים parts ḥēleq עַל in ʿal סֵ֑פֶר a book, sēper וַיָּבֹ֧אוּ and came bôʾ אֶל to ʾēl יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ Joshua yĕhôšûaʿ אֶל to ʾēl הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה the host maḥăne שִׁלֹֽה׃ at Shiloh. šîlō

וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ֩ cast šālak לָהֶ֨ם יְהוֹשֻׁ֧עַ And Joshua yĕhôšûaʿ גּוֹרָ֛ל lots gôrāl בְּשִׁלֹ֖ה for them in Shiloh šîlō לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm יְהוָ֑ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ וַיְחַלֶּק divided ḥālaq שָׁ֨ם and there šām יְהוֹשֻׁ֧עַ Joshua yĕhôšûaʿ אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֛רֶץ the land ʾereṣ לִבְנֵ֥י unto the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl כְּמַחְלְקֹתָֽם׃ according to their divisions. maḥălōqet

וַיַּ֗עַל came up ʿālâ גּוֹרַ֛ל And the lot gôrāl מַטֵּ֥ה of the tribe maṭṭe בְנֵֽי of the children bēn בִנְיָמִ֖ן of Benjamin binyāmîn לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם according to their families: mišpāḥâ וַיֵּצֵא֙ came forth yāṣāʾ גְּב֣וּל and the coast gĕbûl גּֽוֹרָלָ֔ם of their lot gôrāl בֵּ֚ין between bên בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yĕhûdâ וּבֵ֖ין bên בְּנֵ֥י and the children bēn יוֹסֵֽף׃ of Joseph. yôsēp

וַיְהִ֨י was hāyâ לָהֶ֧ם הַגְּב֛וּל And their border gĕbûl לִפְאַ֥ת side pēʾâ צָפ֖וֹנָה on the north ṣāpôn מִן from min הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן Jordan; yardēn וְעָלָ֣ה went up ʿālâ הַגְּבוּל֩ and the border gĕbûl אֶל to ʾēl כֶּ֨תֶף the side kātēp יְרִיח֜וֹ of Jericho yĕrîḥô מִצָּפ֗וֹן on the north ṣāpôn וְעָלָ֤ה side, and went up ʿālâ בָהָר֙ through the mountains har יָ֔מָּה westward; yām וְהָיָה֙ thereof were hāyâ תֹּֽצְאֹתָ֔יו and the goings out tôṣāʾâ מִדְבַּ֖רָה at the wilderness midbār בֵּ֥ית אָֽוֶן׃ of Beth-aven. bêt ʾāwen

וְעָבַר֩ went over ʿābar מִשָּׁ֨ם from thence šām הַגְּב֜וּל And the border gĕbûl ל֗וּזָה toward Luz, lûz אֶל to ʾēl כֶּ֤תֶף the side kātēp ל֙וּזָה֙ of Luz, lûz נֶ֔גְבָּה southward; negeb הִ֖יא which hûʾ בֵּֽית אֵ֑ל Beth-el, bêt ʾēl וְיָרַ֤ד descended yārad הַגְּבוּל֙ and the border gĕbûl עַטְר֣וֹת אַדָּ֔ר to Ataroth-adar, ʿaṭrôt ʾaddār עַל near ʿal הָהָ֕ר the hill har אֲשֶׁ֛ר that ʾăšer מִנֶּ֥גֶב on the south side negeb לְבֵית חֹר֖וֹן Beth-horon. bêt ḥôrôn תַּחְתּֽוֹן׃ of the nether taḥtôn

וְתָאַ֣ר was drawn tāʾar הַגְּבוּל֩ And the border gĕbûl וְנָסַ֨ב and compassed sābab לִפְאַת the corner pēʾâ יָ֜ם of the sea yām נֶ֗גְבָּה southward, negeb מִן from min הָהָר֙ the hill har אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer עַל ʿal פְּנֵ֥י before pānîm בֵית חֹרוֹן֮ Beth-horon bêt ḥôrôn נֶגְבָּה֒ southward; negeb וְהָי֣ה thereof were hāyâ תֹֽצְאֹתָ֗יו and the goings out tôṣāʾâ אֶל at ʾēl קִרְיַת בַּ֙עַל֙ Kirjath-baal, qiryat baʿal הִ֚יא which hûʾ קִרְיַ֣ת יְעָרִ֔ים Kirjath-jearim, qiryat yĕʿārîm עִ֖יר a city ʿîr בְּנֵ֣י of the children bēn יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah: yĕhûdâ זֹ֖את this zōt פְּאַת quarter. pēʾâ יָֽם׃ the west yām

וּפְאַת quarter pēʾâ נֶ֕גְבָּה And the south negeb מִקְצֵ֖ה from the end qāṣe קִרְיַ֣ת יְעָרִ֑ים of Kirjath-jearim, qiryat yĕʿārîm וְיָצָ֤א went out yāṣāʾ הַגְּבוּל֙ and the border gĕbûl יָ֔מָּה on the west, yām וְיָצָ֕א and went out yāṣāʾ אֶל to ʾēl מַעְיַ֖ן the well maʿyān מֵ֥י of waters mayim נֶפְתּֽוֹחַ׃ of Nephtoah: neptôaḥ

וְיָרַ֨ד came down yārad הַגְּב֜וּל And the border gĕbûl אֶל to ʾēl קְצֵ֣ה the end qāṣe הָהָ֗ר of the mountain har אֲשֶׁר֙ that ʾăšer עַל ʿal פְּנֵי֙ before pānîm גֵּ֣י the valley gayʾ בֶן of the son bēn הִנֹּ֔ם of Hinnom, hinnōm אֲשֶׁ֛ר which ʾăšer בְּעֵ֥מֶק in the valley ʿēmeq רְפָאִ֖ים of the giants rāpāʾ צָפ֑וֹנָה on the north, ṣāpôn וְיָרַד֩ and descended yārad גֵּ֨י to the valley gayʾ הִנֹּ֜ם of Hinnom, hinnōm אֶל to ʾēl כֶּ֤תֶף the side kātēp הַיְבוּסִי֙ of Jebusi yĕbûsî נֶ֔גְבָּה on the south, negeb וְיָרַ֖ד and descended yārad עֵ֥ין רֹגֵֽל׃ to En-rogel, ʿên rōgēl

וְתָאַ֣ר And was drawn tāʾar מִצָּפ֗וֹן from the north, ṣāpôn וְיָצָא֙ and went forth yāṣāʾ עֵ֣ין שֶׁ֔מֶשׁ to En-shemesh, ʿên šemeš וְיָצָא֙ and went forth yāṣāʾ אֶל toward ʾēl גְּלִיל֔וֹת Geliloth, gĕlîlôt אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer נֹ֖כַח over against nōkaḥ מַֽעֲלֵ֣ה the going up maʿăle אֲדֻמִּ֑ים of Adummim, ʾădummîm וְיָרַ֕ד and descended yārad אֶ֥בֶן to the stone ʾeben בֹּ֖הַן of Bohan bōhan בֶּן the son bēn רְאוּבֵֽן׃ of Reuben, rĕʾûbēn

וְעָבַ֛ר And passed along ʿābar אֶל toward ʾēl כֶּ֥תֶף the side kātēp מוּל over against mûl הָֽעֲרָבָ֖ה Arabah ʿărābâ צָפ֑וֹנָה northward, ṣāpôn וְיָרַ֖ד and went down yārad הָֽעֲרָבָֽתָה׃ unto Arabah: ʿărābâ

וְעָבַ֨ר passed along ʿābar הַגְּב֜וּל And the border gĕbûl אֶל to ʾēl כֶּ֣תֶף the side kātēp בֵּית חָגְלָה֮ of Beth-hoglah bêt ḥoglâ צָפוֹנָה֒ northward: ṣāpôn וְהָי֣ה׀ were hāyâ תֹּֽצְא֣וֹתיו and the outgoings tôṣāʾâ הַגְּב֗וּל of the border gĕbûl אֶל at ʾēl לְשׁ֤וֹן bay lāšôn יָם sea yām הַמֶּ֙לַח֙ of the salt melaḥ צָפ֔וֹנָה the north ṣāpôn אֶל at ʾēl קְצֵ֥ה end qāṣe הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן of Jordan: yardēn נֶ֑גְבָּה the south negeb זֶ֖ה this ze גְּב֥וּל coast. gĕbûl נֶֽגֶב׃ the south negeb

וְהַיַּרְדֵּ֥ן And Jordan yardēn יִגְבֹּל was the border gābal אֹת֖וֹ ʾēt לִפְאַת side. pēʾâ קֵ֑דְמָה of it on the east qedem זֹ֡את This zōt נַֽחֲלַת֩ the inheritance naḥălâ בְּנֵ֨י of the children bēn בִנְיָמִ֧ן of Benjamin, binyāmîn לִגְבֽוּלֹתֶ֛יהָ by the coasts gĕbûlâ סָבִ֖יב thereof round about, sābîb לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃ according to their families. mišpāḥâ

וְהָי֣וּ were hāyâ הֶֽעָרִ֗ים Now the cities ʿîr לְמַטֵּ֛ה of the tribe maṭṭe בְּנֵ֥י of the children bēn בִנְיָמִ֖ן of Benjamin binyāmîn לְמִשְׁפְּחֽוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם according to their families mišpāḥâ יְרִיח֥וֹ Jericho, yĕrîḥô וּבֵית חָגְלָ֖ה and Beth-hoglah, bêt ḥoglâ וְעֵ֥מֶק and the valley ʿēmeq קְצִֽיץ׃ of Keziz, qĕṣîṣ

וּבֵ֧ית הָֽעֲרָבָ֛ה And Beth-arabah, bêt hāʿărābâ וּצְמָרַ֖יִם and Zemaraim, ṣĕmārayim וּבֵֽית אֵֽל׃ and Beth-el, bêt ʾēl

וְהָֽעַוִּ֥ים And Avim, ʿawwîm וְהַפָּרָ֖ה and Parah, pārâ וְעָפְרָֽה׃ and Ophrah, ʿoprâ

וּכְפַ֧ר הָֽעַמֹּנָ֛י And Chephar-haammonai, kĕpar hāʿammônî וְהָֽעָפְנִ֖י and Ophni, ʿopnî וָגָ֑בַע and Gaba; gebaʿ עָרִ֥ים cities ʿîr שְׁתֵּים twelve šĕnayim עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה ʿāśār וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ with their villages: ḥāṣēr

גִּבְע֥וֹן Gibeon, gibʿôn וְהָֽרָמָ֖ה and Ramah, rāmâ וּבְאֵרֽוֹת׃ and Beeroth, bĕʾērôt

וְהַמִּצְפֶּ֥ה And Mizpeh, miṣpe וְהַכְּפִירָ֖ה and Chephirah, kĕpîrâ וְהַמֹּצָֽה׃ and Mozah, mōṣâ

וְרֶ֥קֶם And Rekem, reqem וְיִרְפְּאֵ֖ל and Irpeel, yirpĕʾēl וְתַרְאֲלָֽה׃ and Taralah, tarʾălâ

וְצֵלַ֡ע And Zelah, ṣelaʿ הָאֶ֜לֶף Eleph, ʾelep וְהַיְבוּסִ֨י and Jebusi, yĕbûsî הִ֤יא which hûʾ יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim גִּבְעַ֣ת Gibeath, gibʿat קִרְיַ֔ת Kirjath; qiryat yĕʿārîm עָרִ֥ים cities ʿîr אַרְבַּֽע fourteen ʾarbaʿ עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה ʿāśār וְחַצְרֵיהֶ֑ן with their villages. ḥāṣēr זֹ֛את This zōt נַֽחֲלַ֥ת the inheritance naḥălâ בְּנֵֽי of the children bēn בִנְיָמִ֖ן of Benjamin binyāmîn לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃ according to their families. mišpāḥâ
