யோபு 15
1 அப்பொழுது தேமானியனாகிய எலிப்பாஸ் பிரதியுத்தரமாக:
2 ஞானவான் காற்றைப்போன்ற நியாயங்களைச் சொல்லி, தன் வயிற்றைக் கொண்டல்காற்றினால் நிரப்பி,
3 பிரயோஜனமில்லாத வார்த்தைகளாலும், உபயோகமில்லாத வசனங்களாலும் தர்க்கிக்கலாமோ?
4 நீர் பயபக்தியை வீணென்று செξல்லி, தேவனுக்கு ήுன்பாக ஜெபத்தியானத்தைக் ՠρறையப்பண்ணுகிறீர்.
5 Ήம்முடைய வாய் உம்முடைய அக͠Εிரமத்தைச் சொல்லிக்காட்டுகிறது; நீர் தந்திரமுள்ளவர்களின் நாவைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டீர்.
6 நான் அல்ல, உம்முடைய வாயே உம்மைக் குற்றவாளி என்று தீர்க்கிறது; உம்முடைய உதடுகளே உமக்கு விரோதமாகச் சாட்சியிடுகிறது.
7 மனுஷரில் முந்திப் பிறந்தவர் நீர்தானோ? பர்வதங்களுக்குமுன்னே உருவாக்கப்பட்டீரோ?
8 நீர் தேவனுடைய இரகசிய ஆலோசனையைக் கேட்டு, ஞானத்தை உம்மிடமாய்ச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டீரோ?
9 நாங்கள் அறியாத எந்தக் காரியத்தை நீர் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்? எங்களுக்கு விளங்காத எந்தக் காரியமாவது உமக்கு விளங்கியிருக்கிறதோ?
10 உம்முடைய தகப்பனைப்பார்க்கிலும் பெரிய வயதுள்ள நரைத்தோரும் விருத்தாப்பியரும் எங்களுக்குள் இருக்கிறார்களே.
11 தேவன் அருளிய ஆறுதல்களும், உம்மோடே சொல்லப்படுகிற மிருதுவான பேச்சும் உமக்கு அற்பகாரியமாயிருக்கிறதோ?
12 உம்முடைய இருதயம் உம்மை எங்கே கொண்டுபோகிறது? உம்முடைய கண்கள் நெறித்துப்பார்க்கிறது என்ன?
13 தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாக உம்முடைய ஆவியை எழுப்பி, உம்முடைய வாயிலிருந்து வசனங்களைப் புறப்படப்பண்ணுகிறீர்.
14 மனுஷனானவன் பரிசுத்தமாயிருக்கிறதற்கும், ஸ்திரீயினிடத்தில் பிறந்தவன் நீதிமானாயிருக்கிறதற்கும், அவன் எம்மாத்திரம்?
15 இதோ, தம்முடைய பரிசுத்தவான்களையும் அவர் நம்புகிறதில்லை; வானங்களும் அவர் பார்வைக்குச் சுத்தமானவைகள் அல்ல.
16 அநியாயத்தைத் தண்ணீரைப்போலக் குடிக்கிற மனுஷன் எத்தனை அதிகமாய் அருவருப்பும் அசுத்தமுமாயிருக்கிறான்?
17 உமக்குக் காரியத்தைத் தெரியப்பண்ணுவேன், என்னைக் கேளும், நான் கண்டதை உமக்கு விவரித்துச் சொல்லுவேன்.
18 ஞானிகள் தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் சொல்லக் கேட்டு மறைக்காமல் அறிவித்ததையே நான் சொல்லுவேன்.
19 அவர்களுக்குமாத்திரம் பூமி அளிக்கப்பட்டது; அந்நியர் அவர்கள் நடுவே கடந்துபோக இடமில்லை.
20 துன்மார்க்கன் உயிரோடிருக்கிற நாளெல்லாம் துன்பத்தால் வாதிக்கப்படுகிறான்; பலவந்தம்பண்ணுகிறவனுக்கு அவன் வருஷங்களின் தொகை மறைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
21 பயங்கரமான சத்தம் அவன் காதுகளில் தொனிக்கிறது; அவன் சமாதானமாயிருக்கையில் பாழாக்கிறவன் அவன்மேல் வருவான்.
22 இருளிலிருந்து திரும்பிவர அவனுக்கு நம்பிக்கையில்லாமல், பதிவிருக்கிறவர்களின் பட்டயத்துக்கு அவன் பயப்படுகிறான்.
23 அப்பம் எங்கே கிடைக்குமென்று அவன் அலைந்து திரிகிறான்; அந்தகாரநாள் தனக்குச் சமீபித்திருக்கிறதை அறிவான்.
24 இக்கட்டும் நெருக்கமும் அவனைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணி, யுத்தசன்னத்தனான ராஜாவைப்போல அவனை மேற்கொள்ளும்.
25 அவன் தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாகக் கைநீட்டி, சர்வவல்லவருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பராக்கிரமம் பாராட்டுகிறான்.
26 கடினக்கழுத்தோடும், பருத்த குமிழுள்ள தன் கேடயங்களோடும் அவருக்கு எதிராக ஓடுகிறான்.
27 அவன் முகத்தைக் கொழுப்பு மூடியிருக்கிறது; அடிவயிறு தொந்தி விட்டிருக்கிறது.
28 ஆனாலும் பாழான பட்டணங்களிலும், குடிபோன கற்குவியலான வீடுகளிலும் வாசம்பண்ணுவான்.
29 அவன் ஐசுவரியவானாவதுமில்லை, அவன் ஆஸ்தி நிலைப்பதுமில்லை, அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களின் செல்வம் பூமியில் நீடித்திருப்பதில்லை.
30 இருளுக்கு அவன் தப்புவதில்லை; அக்கினி ஜுவாலை அவனுடைய கிளையைக் காய்ந்துபோகப்பண்ணும்; அவருடைய வாயின் சுவாசத்தால் அற்றுப்போவான்.
31 வழிதப்பினவன் மாயையை நம்பானாக; நம்பினால் மாயையே அவன் பலனாயிருக்கும்.
32 அது அவன் நாள் வருமுன்னே அவனுக்குப் பூரணமாய்ப் பலிக்கும்; அவனுடைய கொப்புப் பச்சைகொள்வதில்லை.
33 பிஞ்சுகள் உதிர்ந்துபோகிற திராட்சச்செடியைப்போலவும், பூக்கள் உதிர்ந்து போகிற ஒலிவமரத்தைப்போலவும் அவன் இருப்பான்.
34 மாயக்காரரின் கூட்டம் வெறுமையாய்ப் போம்; பரிதானம் வாங்கினவர்களின் கூடாரங்களை அக்கினி பட்சிக்கும்.
1 Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
2 Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
4 Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
5 For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
6 Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
7 Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
8 Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
9 What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
10 With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
11 Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
12 Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
13 That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
14 What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
15 Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
16 How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
17 I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
18 Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:
19 Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
21 A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
22 He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
23 He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
24 Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
25 For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
26 He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
27 Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
28 And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
30 He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
32 It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
34 For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.
2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.
3 Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king’s commandment?
4 Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.
5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.
6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.
7 In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
8 And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.
9 If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.
10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.
11 And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.
12 Then were the king’s scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king’s ring.
13 And the letters were sent by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.
14 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
15 The posts went out, being hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.
