  1. כֹּֽה Thus אָמַ֨ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֜ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֗י unto ʾēl הָל֞וֹךְ me, Go hālak וְקָנִ֤יתָ and get qānâ לְּךָ֙ אֵז֣וֹר girdle, ʾēzôr פִּשְׁתִּ֔ים thee a linen pište וְשַׂמְתּ֖וֹ and put śûm עַל it upon ʿal מָתְנֶ֑יךָ thy loins, mōten וּבַמַּ֖יִם in water. mayim לֹ֥א it not lōʾ תְבִאֵֽהוּ׃ and put bôʾ
  2. וָאֶקְנֶ֥ה So I got qānâ אֶת ʾēt הָאֵז֖וֹר a girdle ʾēzôr כִּדְבַ֣ר according to the word dābār יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ וָאָשִׂ֖ם and put śûm עַל on ʿal מָתְנָֽי׃ my loins. mōten
  3. וַיְהִ֧י came hāyâ דְבַר And the word dābār יְהוָ֛ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֖י unto ʾēl שֵׁנִ֥ית me the second time, šēnî לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying, ʾāmar
  4. קַ֧ח Take lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt הָאֵז֛וֹר the girdle ʾēzôr אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer קָנִ֖יתָ thou hast got, qānâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer עַל upon ʿal מָתְנֶ֑יךָ thy loins, mōten וְקוּם֙ and arise, qûm לֵ֣ךְ go hālak פְּרָ֔תָה to Euphrates, pĕrāt וְטָמְנֵ֥הוּ and hide ṭāman שָׁ֖ם it there šām בִּנְקִ֥יק in a hole nāqîq הַסָּֽלַע׃ of the rock. selaʿ
  5. וָאֵלֵ֕ךְ So I went, hālak וָאֶטְמְנֵ֖הוּ and hid ṭāman בִּפְרָ֑ת it by Euphrates, pĕrāt כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר as ʾăšer צִוָּ֥ה commanded me. ṣāwâ יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אוֹתִֽי׃ ʾēt
  6. וַיְהִ֕י And it came to pass hāyâ מִקֵּ֖ץ after qēṣ יָמִ֣ים days, yôm רַבִּ֑ים many rab וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוָ֜ה that the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֗י unto ʾēl ק֚וּם me, Arise, qûm לֵ֣ךְ go hālak פְּרָ֔תָה to Euphrates, pĕrāt וְקַ֤ח and take lāqaḥ מִשָּׁם֙ from thence, šām אֶת ʾēt הָ֣אֵז֔וֹר the girdle ʾēzôr אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer צִוִּיתִ֖יךָ I commanded ṣāwâ לְטָמְנוֹ thee to hide there. ṭāman שָֽׁם׃ šām
  7. וָאֵלֵ֣ךְ Then I went hālak פְּרָ֔תָה to Euphrates, pĕrāt וָאֶחְפֹּ֗ר and digged, ḥāpar וָֽאֶקַּח֙ and took lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt הָ֣אֵז֔וֹר the girdle ʾēzôr מִן from min הַמָּק֖וֹם the place māqôm אֲשֶׁר where ʾăšer טְמַנְתִּ֣יו I had hid ṭāman שָׁ֑מָּה šām וְהִנֵּה֙ it: and, behold, hinnē נִשְׁחַ֣ת was marred, šāḥat הָאֵז֔וֹר the girdle ʾēzôr לֹ֥א for nothing. lōʾ יִצְלַ֖ח it was profitable ṣālaḥ לַכֹּֽל׃ kōl
  8. וַיְהִ֥י came hāyâ דְבַר Then the word dābār יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֥י unto ʾēl לֵאמֹֽר׃ me, saying, ʾāmar
  9. כֹּ֖ה Thus אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֑ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ כָּ֠כָה After this manner kākâ אַשְׁחִ֞ית will I mar šāḥat אֶת ʾēt גְּא֧וֹן the pride gāʾôn יְהוּדָ֛ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ וְאֶת ʾēt גְּא֥וֹן pride gāʾôn יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם of Jerusalem. yĕrûšālaim הָרָֽב׃ and the great rab
  10. הָעָם֩ people, ʿam הַזֶּ֨ה This ze הָרָ֜ע evil raʿ הַֽמֵּאֲנִ֣ים׀ which refuse mēʾēn לִשְׁמ֣וֹעַ to hear šāmaʿ אֶת ʾēt דְּבָרַ֗י my words, dābār הַהֹֽלְכִים֙ which walk hālak בִּשְׁרִר֣וּת in the imagination šĕrîrût לִבָּ֔ם of their heart, lēb וַיֵּלְכ֗וּ and walk hālak אַֽחֲרֵי֙ after ʾaḥar אֱלֹהִ֣ים gods, ʾĕlōhîm אֲחֵרִ֔ים other ʾaḥēr לְעָבְדָ֖ם to serve ʿābad וּלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֣ת them, and to worship šāḥâ לָהֶ֑ם hēm וִיהִי֙ them, shall even be hāyâ כָּאֵז֣וֹר girdle, ʾēzôr הַזֶּ֔ה as this ze אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer לֹא for nothing. lōʾ יִצְלַ֖ח is good ṣālaḥ לַכֹּֽל׃ kōl
  11. כִּ֡י For כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ as ʾăšer יִדְבַּ֨ק cleaveth dābaq הָאֵז֜וֹר the girdle ʾēzôr אֶל to ʾēl מָתְנֵי the loins mōten אִ֗ישׁ of a man, ʾîš כֵּ֣ן so kēn הִדְבַּ֣קְתִּי have I caused to cleave dābaq אֵ֠לַי unto ʾēl אֶת me ʾēt כָּל the whole kōl בֵּ֨ית house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl וְאֶת ʾēt כָּל and the whole kōl בֵּ֤ית house bayit יְהוּדָה֙ of Judah, yĕhûdâ נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֔ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ לִֽהְי֥וֹת that they might be hāyâ לִי֙ לְעָ֔ם unto me for a people, ʿam וּלְשֵׁ֥ם and for a name, šēm וְלִתְהִלָּ֖ה and for a praise, tĕhillâ וּלְתִפְאָ֑רֶת and for a glory: tipʾārâ וְלֹ֖א but they would not lōʾ שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃ hear. šāmaʿ
  12. וְאָמַרְתָּ֙ Therefore thou shalt speak ʾāmar אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם unto ʾēl אֶת them ʾēt הַדָּבָ֣ר word; dābār הַזֶּ֗ה this ze כֹּֽה Thus אָמַ֤ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֣י God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl כָּל Every kōl נֵ֖בֶל bottle nebel יִמָּ֣לֵא shall be filled mālēʾ יָ֑יִן with wine: yayin וְאָמְר֣וּ and they shall say ʾāmar אֵלֶ֔יךָ unto ʾēl הֲיָדֹ֙עַ֙ certainly yādaʿ לֹ֣א thee, Do we not lōʾ נֵדַ֔ע know yādaʿ כִּ֥י that כָל every kōl נֵ֖בֶל bottle nebel יִמָּ֥לֵא shall be filled mālēʾ יָֽיִן׃ with wine? yayin
  13. וְאָמַרְתָּ֙ Then shalt thou say ʾāmar אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם unto ʾēl כֹּֽה them, Thus אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֗ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ הִנְנִ֣י Behold, hēn מְמַלֵּ֣א I will fill mālēʾ אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl יֹשְׁבֵ֣י the inhabitants yāšab הָאָ֪רֶץ land, ʾereṣ הַזֹּ֟את of this zōt וְאֶת ʾēt הַמְּלָכִ֣ים even the kings melek הַיֹּשְׁבִים֩ that sit yāšab לְדָוִ֨ד David's dāwid עַל upon ʿal כִּסְא֜וֹ throne, kissēʾ וְאֶת ʾēt הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים and the priests, kōhēn וְאֶת ʾēt הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים and the prophets, nābîʾ וְאֵ֛ת ʾēt כָּל and all kōl יֹשְׁבֵ֥י the inhabitants yāšab יְרוּשָׁלִָ֖ם of Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim שִׁכָּרֽוֹן׃ with drunkenness. šikkārôn
  14. וְנִפַּצְתִּים֩ And I will dash nāpaṣ אִ֨ישׁ them one ʾîš אֶל against ʾēl אָחִ֜יו another, ʾāḥ וְהָאָב֧וֹת even the fathers ʾāb וְהַבָּנִ֛ים and the sons bēn יַחְדָּ֖ו together, yaḥad נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֑ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ לֹֽא I will not lōʾ אֶחְמ֧וֹל pity, ḥāmal וְלֹֽא nor lōʾ אָח֛וּס spare, ḥûs וְלֹ֥א nor lōʾ אֲרַחֵ֖ם have mercy, rāḥam מֵהַשְׁחִיתָֽם׃ but destroy them. šāḥat
  15. שִׁמְע֥וּ Hear šāmaʿ וְהַאֲזִ֖ינוּ ye, and give ear; ʾāzan אַל be not ʾal תִּגְבָּ֑הוּ proud: gābah כִּ֥י for יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ דִּבֵּֽר׃ hath spoken. dābar
  16. תְּנוּ֩ Give nātan לַיהוָ֨ה to the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֤ם your God, ʾĕlōhîm כָּבוֹד֙ glory kābôd בְּטֶ֣רֶם before ṭerem יַחְשִׁ֔ךְ he cause darkness, ḥāšak וּבְטֶ֛רֶם and before ṭerem יִֽתְנַגְּפ֥וּ stumble nāgap רַגְלֵיכֶ֖ם your feet regel עַל upon ʿal הָ֣רֵי mountains, har נָ֑שֶׁף the dark nešep וְקִוִּיתֶ֤ם and, while ye look qāwâ לְאוֹר֙ for light, ʾôr וְשָׂמָ֣הּ he turn śûm לְצַלְמָ֔וֶת it into the shadow of death, ṣalmāwet יְשִׁ֖ית make šît לַעֲרָפֶֽל׃ gross darkness. ʿărāpel
  17. וְאִם֙ But if ʾim לֹ֣א ye will not lōʾ תִשְׁמָע֔וּהָ hear šāmaʿ בְּמִסְתָּרִ֥ים in secret places mistār תִּבְכֶּֽה shall weep bākâ נַפְשִׁ֖י it, my soul nepeš מִפְּנֵ֣י for pānîm גֵוָ֑ה pride; gēwâ וְדָמֹ֨עַ shall weep dāmaʿ תִּדְמַ֜ע sore, dāmaʿ וְתֵרַ֤ד and run down yārad עֵינִי֙ and mine eye ʿayin דִּמְעָ֔ה with tears, dimʿâ כִּ֥י because נִשְׁבָּ֖ה is carried away captive. šābâ עֵ֥דֶר flock ʿēder יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord's yĕhōwâ
  18. אֱמֹ֥ר Say ʾāmar לַמֶּ֛לֶךְ unto the king melek וְלַגְּבִירָ֖ה and to the queen, gĕbîrâ הַשְׁפִּ֣ילוּ Humble yourselves, šāpēl שֵׁ֑בוּ sit down: yāšab כִּ֤י for יָרַד֙ shall come down, yārad מַרְאֲשׁ֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם your principalities marʾāšâ עֲטֶ֖רֶת the crown ʿăṭārâ תִּֽפְאַרְתְּכֶֽם׃ of your glory. tipʾārâ
  19. עָרֵ֥י The cities ʿîr הַנֶּ֛גֶב of the south negeb סֻגְּר֖וּ shall be shut up, sāgar וְאֵ֣ין and none ʾayin פֹּתֵ֑חַ shall open pātaḥ הָגְלָ֧ת shall be carried away captive gālâ יְהוּדָ֛ה Judah yĕhûdâ כֻּלָּ֖הּ all kōl הָגְלָ֥ת carried away captive. gālâ שְׁלוֹמִֽים׃ of it, it shall be wholly šālôm
  20. שְׂא֤יּ Lift up nāśāʾ עֵֽינֵיכֶם֙ your eyes, ʿayin וּרְא֔יּ and behold rāʾâ הַבָּאִ֖ים them that come bôʾ מִצָּפ֑וֹן from the north: ṣāpôn אַיֵּ֗ה where ʾayyē הָעֵ֙דֶר֙ the flock ʿēder נִתַּן was given nātan לָ֔ךְ צֹ֖אן flock? ṣōn תִּפְאַרְתֵּֽךְ׃ thee, thy beautiful tipʾārâ
  21. מַה What תֹּֽאמְרִי֙ wilt thou say ʾāmar כִּֽי when יִפְקֹ֣ד he shall punish pāqad עָלַ֔יִךְ ʿal וְ֠אַתְּ thee? for thou ʾattâ לִמַּ֨דְתְּ hast taught lāmad אֹתָ֥ם ʾēt עָלַ֛יִךְ over ʿal אַלֻּפִ֖ים them captains, ʾallûp לְרֹ֑אשׁ as chief rōš הֲל֤וֹא thee: shall not lōʾ חֲבָלִים֙ sorrows ḥebel יֹאחֱז֔וּךְ take ʾāḥaz כְּמ֖וֹ thee, as kĕmô אֵ֥שֶׁת a woman ʾiššâ לֵדָֽה׃ in travail? yālad
  22. וְכִ֤י And if תֹאמְרִי֙ thou say ʾāmar בִּלְבָבֵ֔ךְ in thine heart, lēbāb מַדּ֖וּעַ Wherefore maddûaʿ קְרָאֻ֣נִי come qārāʾ אֵ֑לֶּה these things ʾēlle בְּרֹ֧ב upon me? For the greatness rōb עֲוֹנֵ֛ךְ of thine iniquity ʿāwōn נִגְל֥וּ discovered, gālâ שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ are thy skirts šûl נֶחְמְס֥וּ made bare. ḥāmas עֲקֵבָֽיִךְ׃ thy heels ʿāqēb
  23. הֲיַהֲפֹ֤ךְ change hāpak כּוּשִׁי֙ Can the Ethiopian kûšî עוֹר֔וֹ his skin, ʿôr וְנָמֵ֖ר or the leopard nāmēr חֲבַרְבֻּרֹתָ֑יו his spots? ḥăbarburâ גַּם also gam אַתֶּם֙ ye ʾattâ תּוּכְל֣וּ may yākōl לְהֵיטִ֔יב do good, yāṭab לִמֻּדֵ֖י that are accustomed limmûd הָרֵֽעַ׃ to do evil. rāʿaʿ
  24. וַאֲפִיצֵ֖ם Therefore will I scatter pûṣ כְּקַשׁ them as the stubble qaš עוֹבֵ֑ר that passeth away ʿābar לְר֖וּחַ by the wind rûaḥ מִדְבָּֽר׃ of the wilderness. midbār
  25. זֶ֣ה This ze גוֹרָלֵ֧ךְ thy lot, gôrāl מְנָת the portion mānâ מִדַּ֛יִךְ of thy measures mad מֵֽאִתִּ֖י from ʾēt נְאֻם me, saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֑ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ אֲשֶׁר֙ because ʾăšer שָׁכַ֣חַתְּ thou hast forgotten šākaḥ אוֹתִ֔י ʾēt וַֽתִּבְטְחִ֖י me, and trusted bāṭaḥ בַּשָּֽׁקֶר׃ in falsehood. šeqer
  26. וְגַם Therefore gam אֲנִ֛י will I ʾănî חָשַׂ֥פְתִּי discover ḥāśap שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ thy skirts šûl עַל upon ʿal פָּנָ֑יִךְ thy face, pānîm וְנִרְאָ֖ה may appear. rāʾâ קְלוֹנֵֽךְ׃ that thy shame qālôn
  27. נִֽאֻפַ֤יִךְ thine adulteries, niʾup וּמִצְהֲלוֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ and thy neighings, maṣhālâ זִמַּ֣ת the lewdness zimmâ זְנוּתֵ֔ךְ of thy whoredom, zĕnût עַל on ʿal גְּבָעוֹת֙ the hills gibʿâ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה in the fields. śāde רָאִ֖יתִי I have seen rāʾâ שִׁקּוּצָ֑יִךְ thine abominations šiqqûṣ א֥וֹי Woe ʾôy לָךְ֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם unto thee, O Jerusalem! yĕrûšālaim לֹ֣א wilt thou not lōʾ תִטְהֲרִ֔י be made clean? ṭāhēr אַחֲרֵ֥י when ʾaḥar מָתַ֖י mātay עֹֽד׃ once ʿôd
