  1. ה֣וֹי Woe hôy שׁוֹדֵ֗ד to thee that spoilest, šādad וְאַתָּה֙ and thou ʾattâ לֹ֣א not lōʾ שָׁד֔וּד spoiled; šādad וּבוֹגֵ֖ד and dealest treacherously, bāgad וְלֹא lōʾ בָ֣גְדוּ and they dealt not treacherously bāgad ב֑וֹ כַּהֲתִֽמְךָ֤ with thee! when thou shalt cease tāmam שׁוֹדֵד֙ to spoil, šādad תּוּשַּׁ֔ד thou shalt be spoiled; šādad כַּנְּלֹתְךָ֥ when thou shalt make an end nālâ לִבְגֹּ֖ד to deal treacherously, bāgad יִבְגְּדוּ they shall deal treacherously with thee. bāgad בָֽךְ׃
  2. יְהוָ֥ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ חָנֵּ֖נוּ be gracious ḥānan לְךָ֣ קִוִּ֑ינוּ unto us; we have waited qāwâ הֱיֵ֤ה for thee: be hāyâ זְרֹעָם֙ thou their arm zĕrôaʿ לַבְּקָרִ֔ים every morning, bōqer אַף also ʾap יְשׁוּעָתֵ֖נוּ our salvation yĕšûʿâ בְּעֵ֥ת in the time ʿēt צָרָֽה׃ of trouble. ṣārâ
  3. מִקּ֣וֹל At the noise qôl הָמ֔וֹן of the tumult hāmôn נָדְד֖וּ fled; nādad עַמִּ֑ים the people ʿam מֵר֣וֹמְמֻתֶ֔ךָ at the lifting up rōmēmut נָפְצ֖וּ were scattered. nāpaṣ גּוֹיִֽם׃ of thyself the nations gôy
  4. וְאֻסַּ֣ף shall be gathered ʾāsap שְׁלַלְכֶ֔ם And your spoil šālāl אֹ֖סֶף the gathering ʾōsep הֶֽחָסִ֑יל of the caterpiller: ḥāsîl כְּמַשַּׁ֥ק as the running to and fro maššāq גֵּבִ֖ים of locusts gēb שֹׁקֵ֥ק shall he run upon them. šāqaq בּֽוֹ׃
  5. נִשְׂגָּ֣ב is exalted; śāgab יְהוָ֔ה The Lord yĕhōwâ כִּ֥י for שֹׁכֵ֖ן he dwelleth šākan מָר֑וֹם on high: mārôm מִלֵּ֣א he hath filled mālēʾ צִיּ֔וֹן Zion ṣiyyôn מִשְׁפָּ֖ט with judgment mišpāṭ וּצְדָקָֽה׃ and righteousness. ṣĕdāqâ
  6. וְהָיָה֙ shall be hāyâ אֱמוּנַ֣ת the stability ʾĕmûnâ עִתֶּ֔יךָ of thy times, ʿēt חֹ֥סֶן strength ḥōsen יְשׁוּעֹ֖ת of salvation: yĕšûʿâ חָכְמַ֣ת And wisdom ḥokmâ וָדָ֑עַת and knowledge daʿat יִרְאַ֥ת the fear yirʾâ יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ הִ֥יא hûʾ אוֹצָרֽוֹ׃ his treasure. ʾôṣār
  7. הֵ֚ן Behold, hēn אֶרְאֶלָּ֔ם their valiant ones ʾerʾēl צָעֲק֖וּ shall cry ṣāʿaq חֻ֑צָה without: ḥûṣ מַלְאֲכֵ֣י the ambassadors mălʾok שָׁל֔וֹם of peace šālôm מַ֖ר bitterly. mar יִבְכָּיֽוּן׃ shall weep bākâ
  8. נָשַׁ֣מּוּ lie waste, šāmēm מְסִלּ֔וֹת The highways mĕsillâ שָׁבַ֖ת ceaseth: šābat עֹבֵ֣ר the wayfaring man ʿābar אֹ֑רַח ʾōraḥ הֵפֵ֤ר he hath broken pārar בְּרִית֙ the covenant, bĕrît מָאַ֣ס he hath despised māʾas עָרִ֔ים the cities, ʿîr לֹ֥א no lōʾ חָשַׁ֖ב he regardeth ḥāšab אֱנֽוֹשׁ׃ man. ʾîš
  9. אָבַ֤ל mourneth ʾābal אֻמְלְלָה֙ languisheth: ʾāmal אָ֔רֶץ The earth ʾereṣ הֶחְפִּ֥יר is ashamed ḥāpēr לְבָנ֖וֹן Lebanon lĕbānôn קָמַ֑ל hewn down: qāmal הָיָ֤ה is hāyâ הַשָּׁרוֹן֙ Sharon šārôn כָּֽעֲרָבָ֔ה like a wilderness; ʿărābâ וְנֹעֵ֥ר shake off nāʿar בָּשָׁ֖ן and Bashan bāšān וְכַרְמֶֽל׃ and Carmel karmel
  10. עַתָּ֥ה Now ʿattâ אָק֖וּם will I rise, qûm יֹאמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֑ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ עַתָּה֙ now ʿattâ אֵֽרוֹמָ֔ם will I be exalted; rûm עַתָּ֖ה now ʿattâ אֶנָּשֵֽׂא׃ will I lift up myself. nāśāʾ
  11. תַּהֲר֥וּ Ye shall conceive hārâ חֲשַׁ֖שׁ chaff, ḥāšaš תֵּ֣לְדוּ ye shall bring forth yālad קַ֑שׁ stubble: qaš רוּחֲכֶ֕ם your breath, rûaḥ אֵ֖שׁ fire, ʾēš תֹּאכַלְכֶֽם׃ shall devour you. ʾākal
  12. וְהָי֥וּ shall be hāyâ עַמִּ֖ים And the people ʿam מִשְׂרְפ֣וֹת the burnings miśrāpâ שִׂ֑יד of lime: śîd קוֹצִ֥ים thorns qôṣ כְּסוּחִ֖ים cut up kāsaḥ בָּאֵ֥שׁ in the fire. ʾēš יִצַּֽתּוּ׃ shall they be burned yāṣat
  13. שִׁמְע֥וּ Hear, šāmaʿ רְחוֹקִ֖ים ye far off, rāḥôq אֲשֶׁ֣ר what ʾăšer עָשִׂ֑יתִי I have done; ʿāśâ וּדְע֥וּ acknowledge yādaʿ קְרוֹבִ֖ים and, ye near, qārôb גְּבֻרָתִֽי׃ my might. gĕbûrâ
  14. פָּחֲד֤וּ are afraid; pāḥad בְצִיּוֹן֙ in Zion ṣiyyôn חַטָּאִ֔ים The sinners ḥaṭṭāʾ אָחֲזָ֥ה hath surprised ʾāḥaz רְעָדָ֖ה fearfulness raʿad חֲנֵפִ֑ים the hypocrites. ḥānēp מִ֣י׀ Who יָג֣וּר among us shall dwell gûr לָ֗נוּ אֵ֚שׁ fire? ʾēš אוֹכֵלָ֔ה with the devouring ʾākal מִי who יָג֥וּר among us shall dwell gûr לָ֖נוּ מוֹקְדֵ֥י burnings? môqēd עוֹלָֽם׃ with everlasting ʿôlām
  15. הֹלֵ֣ךְ He that walketh hālak צְדָק֔וֹת righteously, ṣĕdāqâ וְדֹבֵ֖ר and speaketh dābar מֵֽישָׁרִ֑ים uprightly; mêšār מֹאֵ֞ס he that despiseth māʾas בְּבֶ֣צַע the gain beṣaʿ מַעֲשַׁקּ֗וֹת of oppressions, maʿăšaqqâ נֹעֵ֤ר that shaketh nāʿar כַּפָּיו֙ his hands kap מִתְּמֹ֣ךְ from holding tāmak בַּשֹּׁ֔חַד of bribes, šaḥad אֹטֵ֤ם that stoppeth ʾāṭam אָזְנוֹ֙ his ears ʾōzen מִשְּׁמֹ֣עַ from hearing šāmaʿ דָּמִ֔ים of blood, dām וְעֹצֵ֥ם and shutteth ʿāṣam עֵינָ֖יו his eyes ʿayin מֵרְא֥וֹת from seeing rāʾâ בְּרָֽע׃ evil; raʿ
  16. ה֚וּא He hûʾ מְרוֹמִ֣ים on high: mārôm יִשְׁכֹּ֔ן shall dwell šākan מְצָד֥וֹת the munitions mĕṣad סְלָעִ֖ים of rocks: selaʿ מִשְׂגַּבּ֑וֹ his place of defence miśgāb לַחְמ֣וֹ bread leḥem נִתָּ֔ן shall be given nātan מֵימָ֖יו him; his waters mayim נֶאֱמָנִֽים׃ sure. ʾāman
  17. מֶ֥לֶךְ the king melek בְּיָפְי֖וֹ in his beauty: yŏpî תֶּחֱזֶ֣ינָה shall see ḥāzâ עֵינֶ֑יךָ Thine eyes ʿayin תִּרְאֶ֖ינָה they shall behold rāʾâ אֶ֥רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מַרְחַקִּֽים׃ that is very far off. merḥāq
  18. לִבְּךָ֖ Thine heart lēb יֶהְגֶּ֣ה shall meditate hāgâ אֵימָ֑ה terror. ʾêmâ אַיֵּ֤ה Where ʾayyē סֹפֵר֙ the scribe? sāpar אַיֵּ֣ה where ʾayyē שֹׁקֵ֔ל the receiver? šāqal אַיֵּ֖ה where ʾayyē סֹפֵ֥ר he that counted sāpar אֶת ʾēt הַמִּגְדָּלִֽים׃ the towers? migdāl
  19. אֶת ʾēt עַ֥ם people, ʿam נוֹעָ֖ז a fierce yāʿaz לֹ֣א Thou shalt not lōʾ תִרְאֶ֑ה see rāʾâ עַ֣ם a people ʿam עִמְקֵ֤י of a deeper ʿāmēq שָׂפָה֙ speech śāpâ מִשְּׁמ֔וֹעַ than thou canst perceive; šāmaʿ נִלְעַ֥ג of a stammering lāʿag לָשׁ֖וֹן tongue, lāšôn אֵ֥ין not ʾayin בִּינָֽה׃ understand. bînâ
  20. חֲזֵ֣ה Look ḥāzâ צִיּ֔וֹן upon Zion, ṣiyyôn קִרְיַ֖ת the city qiryâ מֽוֹעֲדֵ֑נוּ of our solemnities: môʿēd עֵינֶיךָ֩ thine eyes ʿayin תִרְאֶ֨ינָה shall see rāʾâ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם Jerusalem yĕrûšālaim נָוֶ֣ה habitation, nāwe שַׁאֲנָ֗ן a quiet šaʾănān אֹ֤הֶל a tabernacle ʾōhel בַּל shall not bal יִצְעָן֙ be taken down; ṣāʿan בַּל not bal יִסַּ֤ע be removed, nāsaʿ יְתֵֽדֹתָיו֙ one of the stakes yātēd לָנֶ֔צַח thereof shall ever neṣaḥ וְכָל shall any kōl חֲבָלָ֖יו of the cords ḥebel בַּל neither bal יִנָּתֵֽקוּ׃ thereof be broken. nātaq
  21. כִּ֣י But אִם ʾim שָׁ֞ם there šām אַדִּ֤יר the glorious ʾaddîr יְהוָה֙ Lord yĕhōwâ לָ֔נוּ מְקוֹם unto us a place māqôm נְהָרִ֥ים rivers nāhār יְאֹרִ֖ים streams; yĕʾōr רַחֲבֵ֣י of broad rāḥāb יָדָ֑יִם yād בַּל no bal תֵּ֤לֶךְ wherein shall go hālak בּוֹ֙ אֳנִי galley ʾŏnî שַׁ֔יִט with oars, šayiṭ וְצִ֥י ship ṣî אַדִּ֖יר shall gallant ʾaddîr לֹ֥א neither lōʾ יַעַבְרֶֽנּוּ׃ pass thereby. ʿābar
  22. כִּ֤י For יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ שֹׁפְטֵ֔נוּ our judge, šāpaṭ יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ מְחֹקְקֵ֑נוּ our lawgiver, ḥāqaq יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ מַלְכֵּ֖נוּ our king; melek ה֥וּא he hûʾ יוֹשִׁיעֵֽנוּ׃ will save us. yāšaʿ
  23. נִטְּשׁ֖וּ are loosed; nāṭaš חֲבָלָ֑יִךְ Thy tacklings ḥebel בַּל they could not bal יְחַזְּק֤וּ strengthen ḥāzaq כֵן well kēn תָּרְנָם֙ their mast, tōren בַּל they could not bal פָּ֣רְשׂוּ spread pāraś נֵ֔ס the sail: nēs אָ֣ז then ʾāz חֻלַּ֤ק divided; ḥālaq עַֽד is the prey ʿad שָׁלָל֙ spoil šālāl מַרְבֶּ֔ה of a great marbe פִּסְחִ֖ים the lame pissēaḥ בָּ֥זְזוּ take bāzaz בַֽז׃ the prey. baz
  24. וּבַל shall not bal יֹאמַ֥ר say, ʾāmar שָׁכֵ֖ן And the inhabitant šākēn חָלִ֑יתִי I am sick: ḥālâ הָעָ֛ם the people ʿam הַיֹּשֵׁ֥ב that dwell yāšab בָּ֖הּ נְשֻׂ֥א therein forgiven nāśāʾ עָוֹֽן׃ iniquity. ʿāwōn
