וְאֵ֣לֶּה׀ Now these ʾēlle בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn הַמְּדִינָ֗ה of the province mĕdînâ הָֽעֹלִים֙ that went up ʿālâ מִשְּׁבִ֣י out of the captivity, šĕbî הַגּוֹלָ֔ה of those which had been carried away, gôlâ אֲשֶׁ֥ר whom ʾăšer הֶגְלָ֛ה had carried away gālâ נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֥ור Nebuchadnezzar nĕbûkadneʾṣṣar מֶֽלֶךְ the king melek בָּבֶ֖ל of Babylon bābel לְבָבֶ֑ל unto Babylon, bābel וַיָּשׁ֛וּבוּ and came again šûb לִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֥ם unto Jerusalem yĕrûšālaim וִֽיהוּדָ֖ה and Judah, yĕhûdâ אִ֥ישׁ every one ʾîš לְעִירֽוֹ׃ unto his city; ʿîr

אֲשֶׁר Which ʾăšer בָּ֣אוּ came bôʾ עִם with ʿim זְרֻבָּבֶ֗ל Zerubbabel: zĕrubbābel יֵשׁ֡וּעַ Jeshua, yēšûaʿ נְ֠חֶמְיָה Nehemiah, nĕḥemyâ שְׂרָיָ֨ה Seraiah, śĕrāyâ רְֽעֵלָיָ֜ה Reelaiah, rĕʿēlāyâ מָרְדֳּכַ֥י Mordecai, mordĕkay בִּלְשָׁ֛ן Bilshan, bilšān מִסְפָּ֥ר Mispar, mispār בִּגְוַ֖י Bigvai, bigway רְח֣וּם Rehum, rĕḥûm בַּֽעֲנָ֑ה Baanah. baʿănâ מִסְפַּ֕ר The number mispār אַנְשֵׁ֖י of the men ʾîš עַ֥ם of the people ʿam יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel: yiśrāʾēl

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn פַרְעֹ֔שׁ of Parosh, parʿōš אַלְפַּ֕יִם two thousand ʾelep מֵאָ֖ה an hundred mēʾâ שִׁבְעִ֥ים seventy šibʿîm וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ and two. šĕnayim

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn שְׁפַטְיָ֔ה of Shephatiah, šĕpaṭyâ שְׁלֹ֥שׁ three šālôš מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ שִׁבְעִ֥ים seventy šibʿîm וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ and two. šĕnayim

בְּנֵֽי The children bēn פַחַ֥ת מוֹאָ֛ב of Pahath-moab, paḥat môʾāb לִבְנֵ֥י of the children bēn יֵשׁ֖וּעַ of Jeshua yēšûaʿ יוֹאָ֑ב Joab, yôʾāb אַלְפַּ֕יִם two thousand ʾelep שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה eight šĕmōne מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ וּשְׁנֵ֥ים and twelve. šĕnayim עָשָֽׂר׃ ʿāśār

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn עֵילָ֔ם of Elam, ʿêlām אֶ֕לֶף a thousand ʾelep מָאתַ֖יִם two hundred mēʾâ חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים fifty ḥămiššîm וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃ and four. ʾarbaʿ

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn זַתּ֔וּא of Zattu, zattûʾ תְּשַׁ֥ע nine tēšaʿ מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים forty ʾarbāʿîm וַֽחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ and five. ḥāmēš

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn זַכָּ֔י of Zaccai, zakkay שְׁבַ֥ע seven šebaʿ מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ וְשִׁשִּֽׁים׃ and threescore. šiššîm

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn בָנִ֔י of Bani, bānî שֵׁ֥שׁ six šēš מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ אַרְבָּעִ֥ים forty ʾarbāʿîm וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ and two. šĕnayim

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn בֵבָ֔י of Bebai, bēbay שֵׁ֥שׁ six šēš מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים twenty ʿeśrîm וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ and three. šālôš

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn בֵצָ֔י of Bezai, bēṣay שְׁלֹ֥שׁ three šālôš מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים twenty ʿeśrîm וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ and three. šālôš

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn יוֹרָ֔ה of Jorah, yôrâ מֵאָ֖ה an hundred mēʾâ וּשְׁנֵ֥ים and twelve. šĕnayim עָשָֽׂר׃ ʿāśār

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn חָשֻׁ֔ם of Hashum, ḥāšum מָאתַ֖יִם two hundred mēʾâ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים twenty ʿeśrîm וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ and three. šālôš

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn בֵֽית לָ֔חֶם of Bethlehem, bêt leḥem מֵאָ֖ה an hundred mēʾâ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים twenty ʿeśrîm וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ and three. šālôš

אַנְשֵׁ֥י The men ʾĕnôš נְטֹפָ֖ה of Netophah, nĕṭōpâ חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים fifty ḥămiššîm וְשִׁשָּֽׁה׃ and six. šēš

בְּנֵ֤י The children bēn הָֽרָמָה֙ of Ramah rāmâ וָגָ֔בַע and Geba, gebaʿ שֵׁ֥שׁ six šēš מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים twenty ʿeśrîm וְאֶחָֽד׃ and one. ʾeḥād

בְּנֵ֣י The children bēn סְנָאָ֔ה of Senaah, sĕnāʾâ שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת three šālôš אֲלָפִ֔ים thousand ʾelep וְשֵׁ֥שׁ and six šēš מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ וּשְׁלֹשִֽׁים׃ and thirty. šĕlôšîm

בְּנֵֽי The children bēn יַעְלָ֥ה of Jaalah, yaʿălāʾ בְנֵֽי the children bēn דַרְק֖וֹן of Darkon, darqôn בְּנֵ֥י the children bēn גִדֵּֽל׃ of Giddel, giddēl

וְאֵ֗לֶּה And these ʾēlle הָֽעֹלִים֙ they which went up ʿālâ מִתֵּ֥ל מֶ֙לַח֙ from Tel-melah, tēl melaḥ תֵּ֣ל חַרְשָׁ֔א Tel-harsa, tēl ḥaršāʾ כְּר֥וּב Cherub, kĕrûb אַדָּ֖ן Addan, ʾaddān אִמֵּ֑ר Immer: ʾimmēr וְלֹ֣א not lōʾ יָֽכְל֗וּ but they could yākōl לְהַגִּ֤יד shew nāgad בֵּית house, bayit אֲבוֹתָם֙ their father's ʾāb וְזַרְעָ֔ם and their seed, zeraʿ אִ֥ם whether ʾim מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel: yiśrāʾēl הֵֽם׃ they hēm

וּמִבְּנֵי֙ And of the children bēn הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים of the priests: kōhēn בְּנֵ֥י the children bēn חֳבַיָּ֖ה of Habaiah, ḥăbayyâ בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn הַקּ֑וֹץ of Koz, qôṣ בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn בַרְזִלַּ֗י of Barzillai; barzillay אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer לָ֠קַח took lāqaḥ מִבְּנ֞וֹת of the daughters bat בַּרְזִלַּ֤י of Barzillai barzillay הַגִּלְעָדִי֙ the Gileadite, gilʿādî אִשָּׁ֔ה a wife ʾiššâ וַיִּקָּרֵ֖א and was called qārāʾ עַל after ʿal שְׁמָֽם׃ their name: šēm

אֵ֗לֶּה These ʾēlle בִּקְשׁ֧וּ sought bāqaš כְתָבָ֛ם their register kātāb הַמִּתְיַחְשִׂ֖ים those that were reckoned by genealogy, yāḥaś וְלֹ֣א but they were not lōʾ נִמְצָ֑אוּ found: māṣāʾ וַֽיְגֹאֲל֖וּ therefore were they, as polluted, put gāʾal מִן from min הַכְּהֻנָּֽה׃ the priesthood. kĕhunnâ

כָּל The whole kōl הַקָּהָ֖ל congregation qāhāl כְּאֶחָ֑ד together ʾeḥād אַרְבַּ֣ע forty ʾarbaʿ רִבּ֔וֹא ribbô אַלְפַּ֖יִם and two thousand ʾelep שְׁלֹשׁ three šālôš מֵא֥וֹת hundred mēʾâ שִׁשִּֽׁים׃ threescore, šiššîm

מִ֠לְּבַד Beside bad עַבְדֵיהֶ֤ם their servants ʿebed וְאַמְהֹֽתֵיהֶם֙ and their maids, ʾāmâ אֵ֔לֶּה of whom ʾēlle שִׁבְעַ֣ת seven šebaʿ אֲלָפִ֔ים thousand ʾelep שְׁלֹ֥שׁ three šālôš מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים thirty šĕlôšîm וְשִׁבְעָ֑ה and seven: šebaʿ וְלָהֶ֛ם מְשֹֽׁרְרִ֥ים singing men šîr וּֽמְשֹׁרְר֖וֹת and singing women. šîr מָאתָֽיִם׃ and among them two hundred mēʾâ

סֽוּסֵיהֶ֕ם Their horses sûs שְׁבַ֥ע seven šebaʿ מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים thirty šĕlôšîm וְשִׁשָּׁ֑ה and six; šēš פִּרְדֵיהֶ֕ם their mules, pered מָאתַ֖יִם two hundred mēʾâ אַרְבָּעִ֥ים forty ʾarbāʿîm וַֽחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ and five; ḥāmēš

גְּמַ֨לֵּיהֶ֔ם Their camels, gāmāl אַרְבַּ֥ע four ʾarbaʿ מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים thirty šĕlôšîm וַֽחֲמִשָּׁ֑ה and five; ḥāmēš חֲמֹרִ֕ים asses, ḥămôr שֵׁ֣שֶׁת six šēš אֲלָפִ֔ים thousand ʾelep שְׁבַ֥ע seven šebaʿ מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃ and twenty. ʿeśrîm

וּמֵֽרָאשֵׁי֙ And of the chief rōš הָֽאָב֔וֹת of the fathers, ʾāb בְּבוֹאָ֕ם when they came bôʾ לְבֵ֥ית to the house bayit יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם at Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim הִֽתְנַדְּבוּ֙ offered freely nādab לְבֵ֣ית for the house bayit הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים of God ʾĕlōhîm לְהַֽעֲמִיד֖וֹ to set it up ʿāmad עַל in ʿal מְכוֹנֽוֹ׃ his place: mākôn

כְּכֹחָ֗ם after their ability kōaḥ נָֽתְנוּ֮ They gave nātan לְאוֹצַ֣ר unto the treasure ʾôṣār הַמְּלָאכָה֒ of the work mĕlāʾkâ זָהָ֗ב of gold, zāhāb דַּרְכְּמוֹנִים֙ drams darkĕmôn שֵׁשׁ threescore šēš רִבֹּ֣אות ribbô וָאֶ֔לֶף and one thousand ʾelep וְכֶ֕סֶף of silver, kesep מָנִ֖ים pound māne חֲמֵ֣שֶׁת and five ḥāmēš אֲלָפִ֑ים thousand ʾelep וְכָתְנֹ֥ת garments. kĕtōnet כֹּֽהֲנִ֖ים priests' kōhēn מֵאָֽה׃ and one hundred mēʾâ

וַיֵּֽשְׁב֣וּ dwelt yāšab הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֣ים So the priests, kōhēn וְ֠הַלְוִיִּם and the Levites, lēwiyyî וּֽמִן and of min הָעָ֞ם the people, ʿam וְהַמְשֹֽׁרְרִ֧ים and the singers, šîr וְהַשּֽׁוֹעֲרִ֛ים and the porters, šôʿēr וְהַנְּתִינִ֖ים and the Nethinims, nātîn בְּעָֽרֵיהֶ֑ם in their cities, ʿîr וְכָל and all kōl יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiśrāʾēl בְּעָֽרֵיהֶֽם׃ in their cities. ʿîr
