לַכֹּ֖ל To every kōl זְמָ֑ן a season, zĕmān וְעֵ֥ת and a time ʿēt לְכָל to every kōl חֵ֖פֶץ purpose ḥēpeṣ תַּ֥חַת under taḥat הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ the heaven: šāmayim

עֵ֥ת A time ʿēt לָלֶ֖דֶת to be born, yālad וְעֵ֣ת and a time ʿēt לָמ֑וּת to die; mût עֵ֣ת a time ʿēt לָטַ֔עַת to plant, nāṭaʿ וְעֵ֖ת and a time ʿēt לַעֲק֥וֹר to pluck up ʿāqar נָטֽוּעַ׃ planted; nāṭaʿ

עֵ֤ת A time ʿēt לַהֲרוֹג֙ to kill, hārag וְעֵ֣ת and a time ʿēt לִרְפּ֔וֹא to heal; rāpāʾ עֵ֥ת a time ʿēt לִפְר֖וֹץ to break down, pāraṣ וְעֵ֥ת and a time ʿēt לִבְנֽוֹת׃ to build up; bānâ

עֵ֤ת A time ʿēt לִבְכּוֹת֙ to weep, bākâ וְעֵ֣ת and a time ʿēt לִשְׂח֔וֹק to laugh; śāḥaq עֵ֥ת a time ʿēt סְפ֖וֹד to mourn, sāpad וְעֵ֥ת and a time ʿēt רְקֽוֹד׃ to dance; rāqad

עֵ֚ת A time ʿēt לְהַשְׁלִ֣יךְ to cast away šālak אֲבָנִ֔ים stones, ʾeben וְעֵ֖ת and a time ʿēt כְּנ֣וֹס to gather together; kānas אֲבָנִ֑ים stones ʾeben עֵ֣ת a time ʿēt לַחֲב֔וֹק to embrace, ḥābaq וְעֵ֖ת and a time ʿēt לִרְחֹ֥ק to refrain rāḥaq מֵחַבֵּֽק׃ from embracing; ḥābaq

עֵ֤ת A time ʿēt לְבַקֵּשׁ֙ to get, bāqaš וְעֵ֣ת and a time ʿēt לְאַבֵּ֔ד to lose; ʾābad עֵ֥ת a time ʿēt לִשְׁמ֖וֹר to keep, šāmar וְעֵ֥ת and a time ʿēt לְהַשְׁלִֽיךְ׃ to cast away; šālak

עֵ֤ת A time ʿēt לִקְר֙וֹעַ֙ to rend, qāraʿ וְעֵ֣ת and a time ʿēt לִתְפּ֔וֹר to sew; tāpar עֵ֥ת a time ʿēt לַחֲשׁ֖וֹת to keep silence, ḥāšâ וְעֵ֥ת and a time ʿēt לְדַבֵּֽר׃ to speak; dābar

עֵ֤ת A time ʿēt לֶֽאֱהֹב֙ to love, ʾāhab וְעֵ֣ת and a time ʿēt לִשְׂנֹ֔א to hate; śānēʾ עֵ֥ת a time ʿēt מִלְחָמָ֖ה of war, milḥāmâ וְעֵ֥ת and a time ʿēt שָׁלֽוֹם׃ of peace. šālôm

מַה What mâ יִּתְרוֹן֙ profit yitrôn הָֽעוֹשֶׂ֔ה hath he that worketh ʿāśâ בַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר in that wherein ʾăšer ה֥וּא he hûʾ עָמֵֽל׃ laboureth? ʿāmēl

רָאִ֣יתִי I have seen rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt הָֽעִנְיָ֗ן the travail, ʿinyān אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer נָתַ֧ן hath given nātan אֱלֹהִ֛ים God ʾĕlōhîm לִבְנֵ֥י to the sons bēn הָאָדָ֖ם of men ʾādām לַעֲנ֥וֹת to be exercised in it. ʿānâ בּֽוֹ׃

אֶת ʾēt הַכֹּ֥ל every kōl עָשָׂ֖ה He hath made ʿāśâ יָפֶ֣ה beautiful yāpe בְעִתּ֑וֹ in his time: ʿēt גַּ֤ם also gam אֶת ʾēt הָעֹלָם֙ the world ʿôlām נָתַ֣ן he hath set nātan בְּלִבָּ֔ם in their heart, lēb מִבְּלִ֞י so that bĕlî אֲשֶׁ֧ר ʾăšer לֹא lōʾ יִמְצָ֣א can find out māṣāʾ הָאָדָ֗ם no man ʾādām אֶת ʾēt הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂ֛ה the work maʿăśe אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer עָשָׂ֥ה maketh ʿāśâ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים God ʾĕlōhîm מֵרֹ֥אשׁ from the beginning rōš וְעַד to ʿad סֽוֹף׃ the end. sôp

יָדַ֕עְתִּי I know yādaʿ כִּ֛י that kî אֵ֥ין no ʾayin ט֖וֹב good ṭôb בָּ֑ם כִּ֣י for kî אִם in them, but ʾim לִשְׂמ֔וֹחַ to rejoice, śāmaḥ וְלַעֲשׂ֥וֹת and to do ʿāśâ ט֖וֹב good ṭôb בְּחַיָּֽיו׃ in his life. ḥay

וְגַ֤ם And also gam כָּל of all kōl הָאָדָם֙ that every man ʾādām שֶׁיֹּאכַ֣ל should eat ʾākal וְשָׁתָ֔ה and drink, šātâ וְרָאָ֥ה and enjoy rāʾâ ט֖וֹב the good ṭôb בְּכָל kōl עֲמָל֑וֹ his labour, ʿāmāl מַתַּ֥ת the gift mattāt אֱלֹהִ֖ים of God. ʾĕlōhîm הִֽיא׃ it hûʾ

יָדַ֗עְתִּי I know yādaʿ כִּ֠י that, kî כָּל whatsoever kōl אֲשֶׁ֨ר ʾăšer יַעֲשֶׂ֤ה doeth, ʿāśâ הָאֱלֹהִים֙ God ʾĕlōhîm ה֚וּא it hûʾ יִהְיֶ֣ה shall be hāyâ לְעוֹלָ֔ם for ever: ʿôlām עָלָיו֙ to ʿal אֵ֣ין nothing ʾayin לְהוֹסִ֔יף can be put yāsap וּמִמֶּ֖נּוּ from min אֵ֣ין it, nor ʾayin לִגְרֹ֑עַ any thing taken gāraʿ וְהָאֱלֹהִ֣ים it: and God ʾĕlōhîm עָשָׂ֔ה doeth ʿāśâ שֶׁיִּֽרְא֖וּ that should fear yārēʾ מִלְּפָנָֽיו׃ before him. pānîm

מַה That which hath been mâ שֶּֽׁהָיָה֙ is to be hāyâ כְּבָ֣ר is now; kĕbār ה֔וּא and that hûʾ וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer לִהְי֖וֹת been; hāyâ כְּבָ֣ר hath already kĕbār הָיָ֑ה hāyâ וְהָאֱלֹהִ֖ים and God ʾĕlōhîm יְבַקֵּ֥שׁ requireth bāqaš אֶת ʾēt נִרְדָּֽף׃ that which is past. rādap

וְע֥וֹד And moreover ʿôd רָאִ֖יתִי I saw rāʾâ תַּ֣חַת under taḥat הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ the sun šemeš מְק֤וֹם the place māqôm הַמִּשְׁפָּט֙ of judgment, mišpāṭ שָׁ֣מָּה there; šām הָרֶ֔שַׁע wickedness rešaʿ וּמְק֥וֹם and the place māqôm הַצֶּ֖דֶק of righteousness, ṣedeq שָׁ֥מָּה šām הָרָֽשַׁע׃ iniquity there. rešaʿ

אָמַ֤רְתִּֽי said ʾāmar אֲנִי֙ I ʾănî בְּלִבִּ֔י in mine heart, lēb אֶת ʾēt הַצַּדִּיק֙ the righteous ṣaddîq וְאֶת ʾēt הָ֣רָשָׁ֔ע and the wicked: rāšāʿ יִשְׁפֹּ֖ט shall judge šāpaṭ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים God ʾĕlōhîm כִּי for kî עֵ֣ת a time ʿēt לְכָל for every kōl חֵ֔פֶץ purpose ḥēpeṣ וְעַ֥ל and for ʿal כָּל every kōl הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה work. maʿăśe שָֽׁם׃ there šām

אָמַ֤רְתִּֽי said ʾāmar אֲנִי֙ I ʾănî בְּלִבִּ֔י in mine heart lēb עַל concerning ʿal דִּבְרַת֙ the estate dibrâ בְּנֵ֣י of the sons bēn הָאָדָ֔ם of men, ʾādām לְבָרָ֖ם might manifest bārar הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים that God ʾĕlōhîm וְלִרְא֕וֹת might see rāʾâ שְׁהֶם them, and that they hēm בְּהֵמָ֥ה themselves are beasts. bĕhēmâ הֵ֖מָּה that they hēm לָהֶֽם׃ hēm

כִּי֩ For kî מִקְרֶ֨ה that which befalleth miqre בְֽנֵי the sons bēn הָאָדָ֜ם of men ʾādām וּמִקְרֶ֣ה befalleth miqre הַבְּהֵמָ֗ה beasts; bĕhēmâ וּמִקְרֶ֤ה befalleth miqre אֶחָד֙ even one thing ʾeḥād לָהֶ֔ם כְּמ֥וֹת dieth, māwet זֶה֙ them: as the one ze כֵּ֣ן so kēn מ֣וֹת dieth māwet זֶ֔ה the other; ze וְר֥וּחַ breath; rûaḥ אֶחָ֖ד one ʾeḥād לַכֹּ֑ל yea, they have all kōl וּמוֹתַ֨ר preeminence môtār הָאָדָ֤ם so that a man ʾādām מִן above min הַבְּהֵמָה֙ a beast: bĕhēmâ אָ֔יִן hath no ʾayin כִּ֥י for kî הַכֹּ֖ל all kōl הָֽבֶל׃ vanity. hebel

הַכֹּ֥ל All kōl הוֹלֵ֖ךְ go hālak אֶל unto ʾēl מָק֣וֹם place; māqôm אֶחָ֑ד one ʾeḥād הַכֹּל֙ all kōl הָיָ֣ה are hāyâ מִן of min הֶֽעָפָ֔ר the dust, ʿāpār וְהַכֹּ֖ל and all kōl שָׁ֥ב turn šûb אֶל ʾēl הֶעָפָֽר׃ to dust again. ʿāpār

מִ֣י Who mî יוֹדֵ֗עַ knoweth yādaʿ ר֚וּחַ the spirit rûaḥ בְּנֵ֣י of man bēn הָאָדָ֔ם ʾādām הָעֹלָ֥ה goeth ʿālâ הִ֖יא that hûʾ לְמָ֑עְלָה upward, maʿal וְר֙וּחַ֙ and the spirit rûaḥ הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה of the beast bĕhēmâ הַיֹּרֶ֥דֶת goeth yārad הִ֖יא that hûʾ לְמַ֥טָּה downward maṭṭâ לָאָֽרֶץ׃ to the earth? ʾereṣ

וְרָאִ֗יתִי Wherefore I perceive rāʾâ כִּ֣י that kî אֵ֥ין nothing ʾayin טוֹב֙ better, ṭôb מֵאֲשֶׁ֨ר than that ʾăšer יִשְׂמַ֤ח should rejoice śāmaḥ הָאָדָם֙ a man ʾādām בְּֽמַעֲשָׂ֔יו in his own works; maʿăśe כִּי for kî ה֖וּא that hûʾ חֶלְק֑וֹ his portion: ḥēleq כִּ֣י for kî מִ֤י who mî יְבִיאֶ֙נּוּ֙ shall bring bôʾ לִרְא֔וֹת him to see rāʾâ בְּמֶ֖ה what shall be mâ שֶׁיִּהְיֶ֥ה hāyâ אַחֲרָֽיו׃ after him? ʾaḥar
