Judges 11 in Tamil

1 கீலேயாத்தியனான யெப்தா பலத்த பராக்கிரமசாலியாயிருந்தான்; அவன் பரஸ்திரீயின் குமாரன்; கிலெயாத் அவனைப் பெற்றான். Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah.

2 கிலெயாத்தின் மனைவியும் அவனுக்குக் குமாரர்களைப் பெற்றாள்; அவன் மனைவி பெற்ற குமாரர் பெரியவர்களான பின்பு, அவர்கள் யெப்தாவை நோக்கி: உனக்கு எங்கள் தகப்பன் வீட்டிலே சுதந்தரம் இல்லை; நீ அந்நிய ஸ்திரீயின் மகன் என்று சொல்லி அவனைத் துரத்தினார்கள். And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and his wife's sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father's house; for thou art the son of a strange woman.

3 அப்பொழுது யெப்தா: தன் சகோதரரை விட்டு ஓடிப்போய், தோப்தேசத்திலே குடியிருந்தான்; வீணரான மனுஷர் யெப்தாவோடே கூடிக்கொண்டு, அவனோடேகூட யுத்தத்திற்குப் போவார்கள். Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.

4 சில நாளைக்குப்பின்பு, அம்மொன் புத்திரர் இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல் யுத்தம் பண்ணினார்கள். And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel.

5 அவர்கள் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் யுத்தம் பண்ணும்போது கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பர் யெப்தாவைத் தோப்தேசத்திலிருந்து அழைத்துவரப்போய், And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob:

6 யெப்தாவை நோக்கி: நீ வந்து, நாங்கள் அம்மோன் புத்திரரோடு யுத்தம் பண்ண எங்கள் சேனாபதியாயிருக்க வேண்டும் என்றார்கள். And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

7 அதற்கு யெப்தா கீலேயாத்தி மூப்பரைப் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் அல்லவா என்னைப் பகைத்து, என் தகப்பன் வீட்டிலிருந்து என்னைத் துரத்தினவர்கள்? இப்பொழுது உங்களுக்கு ஆபத்து நேரிட்டிருக்கிற சமயத்தில் நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் ஏன் வருகிறீர்கள் என்றான். And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father's house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress?

8 அதற்குக் கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பர் யெப்தாவை நோக்கி: நீ எங்களுடனேகூட வந்து, அம்மோன் புத்திரரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணி, கீலேயாத்தின் குடிகளாகிய எங்கள் அனைவர்மேலும் தலைவனாயிருக்க வேண்டும்; இதற்காக இப்பொழுது உன்னிடத்தில் வந்தோம் என்றார்கள். And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore we turn again to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

9 அதற்கு யெப்தா: அம்மோன் புத்திரரோடே யுத்தம்பண்ண, நீங்கள் என்னைத் திரும்ப அழைத்துப்போனபின்பு, கர்த்தர் அவர்களை என் முன்னிலையாய் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தால், என்னை உங்களுக்குத் தலைவனாய் வைப்பீர்களா என்று கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பரைக் கேட்டான். And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?

10 கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பர் யெப்தாவைப் பார்த்து: நாங்கள் உன் வார்த்தையின்படியே செய்யாவிட்டால், கர்த்தர் நமக்கு நடுநின்று கேட்பாராக என்றார்கள். And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, The LORD be witness between us, if we do not so according to thy words.

11 அப்பொழுது யெப்தா கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பரோடே கூடப்போனான்; ஜனங்கள் அவனைத் தங்கள்மேல் தலைவனும் சேனாபதியுமாக வைத்தார்கள். யெப்தா தன் காரியங்களையெல்லாம் மிஸ்பாவிலே கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியிலே சொன்னான். Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.

12 பின்பு யெப்தா அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நீ என் தேசத்தில் எனக்கு விரோதமாக யுத்தம்பண்ண வருகிறதற்கு, எனக்கும் உனக்கும் என்ன வழக்கு இருக்கிறது என்று கேட்கச்சொன்னான். And Jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come against me to fight in my land?

13 அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜா யெப்தாவின் ஸ்தானாபதிகளை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலர் எகிப்திலிருந்து வருகிறபோது, அர்னோன் துவக்கி யாபோக்மட்டும், யோர்தான்மட்டும் இருக்கிற என் தேசத்தைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டார்களே; இப்பொழுது அதை எனக்குச் சமாதானமாய்த் திரும்பக்கொடுத்துவிட வேண்டும் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான். And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably.

14 யெப்தா மறுபடியும் அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி, அவனுக்குச் சொல்லச் சொன்னதாவது: And Jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of Ammon:

15 யெப்தா சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: இஸ்ரவேலர் மோவாபியரின் தேசத்தையாகிலும், அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் தேசத்தையாகிலும் கட்டிக்கொண்டதில்லையே. And said unto him, Thus saith Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:

16 இஸ்ரவேலர் எகிப்திலிருந்து வருகிறபோது, வனாந்தரத்தில் சிவந்த சமுத்திர மட்டும் நடந்து, பின்பு காதேசுக்கு வந்து, But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness unto the Red sea, and came to Kadesh;

17 இஸ்ரவேலர் ஏதோமின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நாங்கள் உன் தேசத்துவழியாய்க் கடந்து போகட்டும் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னார்கள்; அதற்கு ஏதோமின் ராஜா செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை; அப்படியே மோவாபின் ராஜாவிடத்திற்கும் அனுப்பினார்கள்; அவனும் சம்மதிக்கவில்லை. ஆதலால் இஸ்ரவேலர் காதேசிலே தரித்திருந்து, Then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of Edom would not hearken thereto. And in like manner they sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh.

18 பின்பு வனாந்தரவழியாய் நடந்து ஏதோம் தேசத்தையும் மோவாப் தேசத்தையும் சுற்றிப்போய், மோவாபின் தேசத்திற்குக் கிழக்கே வந்து, மோவாபின் எல்லைக்குள் பிரவேசியாமல், மோவாபின் எல்லையான அர்னோன் நதிக்கு அப்பாலே பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள். Then they went along through the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab.

19 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலர் எஸ்போனில் ஆளுகிற சீகோன் என்னும் எமோரியரின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நாங்கள் உன் தேசத்து வழியாய் எங்கள் ஸ்தானத்திற்குக் கடந்துபோக இடங்கொடு என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னார்கள். And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land into my place.

20 சீகோன் இஸ்ரவேலரை நம்பாததினால், தன் எல்லையைக் கடந்துபோகிறதற்கு இடங்கொடாமல் தன் ஜனங்களையெல்லாம் கூட்டி, யாகாசிலே பாளயமிறங்கி, இஸ்ரவேலரோடே யுத்தம் பண்ணினான். But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

21 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சீகோனையும் அவனுடைய எல்லா ஜனங்களையும் இஸ்ரவேலரின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவர்களை முறிய அடித்தார்கள்; அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலர் அந்த தேசத்திலே குடியிருந்த எமோரியரின் சீமையையெல்லாம் பிடித்து, அர்னோன் துவக்கி, And the LORD God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country.

22 யாபோக்மட்டும் வனாந்தரம் துவக்கி யோர்தான்மட்டும் இருக்கிற எமோரியரின் எல்லையையெல்லாம் சுதந்தரமாய்க் கட்டிக்கொண்டார்கள். And they possessed all the coasts of the Amorites, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and from the wilderness even unto Jordan.

23 இப்படி இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எமோரியரைத் தம்முடைய ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தியிருக்க, நீர் அந்த தேசத்தைக் கட்டிக்கொள்ளத்தகுமா? So now the LORD God of Israel hath dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possess it?

24 உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய காமோஸ் உமக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்துகிறவர்களின் தேசத்தை நீர் கட்டிக்கொள்ளமாட்டீரோ? அப்படியே எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்துகிறவர்களின் தேசத்தையெல்லாம் நாங்களும் கட்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறோம். Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomsoever the LORD our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.

25 மேலும் சிப்போரின் குமாரனாகிய பாலாக் என்னும் மோவாபின் ராஜாவைப் பார்க்கிலும் உமக்கு அதிக நியாயம் உண்டோ? அவன் இஸ்ரவேலோடே எப்போதாகிலும் வழக்காடினானா? எப்போதாகிலும் அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக யுத்தம் பண்ணினானா? And now art thou any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them,

26 இஸ்ரவேலர் எஸ்போனிலும் அதின் கிராமங்களிலும், ஆரோவேரிலும் அதின் கிராமங்களிலும், அர்னோன் நதியருகான எல்லா ஊர்களிலும், முந்நூறு வருஷம் குடியிருக்கையில், இவ்வளவுகாலமாய் நீங்கள் அதைத் திருப்பிக்கொள்ளாதே போனதென்ன? While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and her towns, and in Aroer and her towns, and in all the cities that be along by the coasts of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did ye not recover them within that time?

27 நான் உமக்கு விரோதமாய்க் குற்றம் செய்யவில்லை; நீர் எனக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம் பண்ணுகிறதினால் நீர் தான் எனக்கு அநியாயம் செய்கிறீர்; நியாயாதிபதியாகிய கர்த்தர் இன்று இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கும் அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்கும் நடுநின்று நியாயம் தீர்க்கக்கடவர் என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினான். Wherefore I have not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong to war against me: the LORD the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.

28 ஆனாலும் அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜா தனக்கு யெப்தா சொல்லியனுப்பின வார்த்தைகளுக்குச் செவிகொடாதே போனான். Howbeit the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not unto the words of Jephthah which he sent him.

29 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய ஆவி யெப்தாவின் மேல் இறங்கினார்; அவன் கீலேயாத்தையும் மனாசே நாட்டையும் கடந்துபோய், கீலேயாத்திலிருக்கிற மிஸ்பாவுக்கு வந்து, அங்கேயிருந்து அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்கு விரோதமாகப் போனான். Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.

30 அப்பொழுது யெப்தா கர்த்தருக்கு ஒரு பொருத்தனையைப் பண்ணி: தேவரீர் அம்மோன் புத்திரரை என் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கவே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தால், And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands,

31 நான் அம்மோன் புத்திரரிடத்திலிருந்து சமாதானத்தோடே திரும்பி வரும்போது, என் வீட்டு வாசற்படியிலிருந்து எனக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வருவது எதுவோ அது கர்த்தருக்கு உரியதாகும். அதைச் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியாகச் செலுத்துவேன் என்றான். Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.

32 யெப்தா அம்மோன் புத்திரரின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண, அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்; கர்த்தர் அவர்களை அவன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார். So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.

33 அவன் அவர்களை ஆரோவேர் துவக்கி மின்னித்திற்குப் போகுமட்டும், திராட்சத்தோட்டத்து நிலங்கள் வரைக்கும், மகா சங்காரமாய் முறிய அடித்து, இருபது பட்டணங்களைப் பிடித்தான்; இப்படி அம்மோன் புத்திரர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழ்த்தப்பட்டார்கள். And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.

34 யெப்தா மிஸ்பாவிலிருக்கிற தன் வீட்டுக்கு வருகிறபோது, இதோ, அவன் குமாரத்தி தம்புரு வாசித்து நடனஞ்செய்து, அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வந்தாள்; அவள் அவனுக்கு ஒரே பிள்ளையானவள்; அவளையல்லாமல் அவனுக்குக் குமாரனும் இல்லை குமாரத்தியும் இல்லை. And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter.

35 அவன் அவளைக் கண்டவுடனே தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு: ஐயோ! என் மகளே, என்னை மிகவும் மனமடியவும் கலங்கவும் பண்ணுகிறாய்; நான் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி என் வாயைத் திறந்து சொல்லிவிட்டேன்; அதை நான் மாற்றக் கூடாது என்றான். And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.

36 அப்பொழுது அவள்: என் தகப்பனே, நீர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி உம்முடைய வாயைத் திறந்து பேசினீரல்லவோ? அம்மோன் புத்திரராகிய, உம்முடைய சத்துருக்களுக்கு நீதியைச் சரிக்கட்டும் ஜெயத்தைக் கர்த்தர் உமக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியினால், உம்முடைய வாயிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டபடியே எனக்குச் செய்யும் என்றாள். And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon.

37 பின்னும் அவன் தன் தகப்பனை நோக்கி: நீர் எனக்கு ஒரு காரியம் செய்ய வேண்டும்; நான் மலைகளின்மேல் போய்த்திரிந்து, நானும் என் தோழிமார்களும் என் கன்னிமையினிமித்தம் துக்கங்கொண்டாட, எனக்கு இரண்டுமாதம் தவணைகொடும் என்றாள். And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my fellows.

38 அதற்கு அவன்: போய் வா என்று அவளை இரண்டு மாதத்திற்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டான்; அவள் தன் தோழிமார்களோடும் கூடப்போய், தன் கன்னிமையினிமித்தம் மலைகளின் மேல் துக்கங்கொண்டாடி, And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains.

39 இரண்டுமாதம் முடிந்தபின்பு, தன் தகப்பனிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவந்தாள்; அப்பொழுது அவன் பண்ணியிருந்த தன் பொருத்தனையின் படி அவளுக்குச் செய்தான்; அவள் புருஷனை அறியாதிருந்தாள். And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,

40 இதினிமித்தம் இஸ்ரவேலின் குமாரத்திகள் வருஷந்தோறும் போய், நாலு நாள் கீலேயாத்தியனான யெப்தாவின் குமாரத்தியைக்குறித்துப் புலம்புவது இஸ்ரவேலிலே வழக்கமாயிற்று. That the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.

1 Geelaeyaaththiyanaana yepthaa palaththa paraakkiramasaaliyaayirunthaan; avan parasthireeyin kumaaran; kileyaath avanaip pettaாn. Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah.

2 Kileyaaththin manaiviyum avanukkuk kumaararkalaip pettaாl; avan manaivi petta kumaarar periyavarkalaana pinpu, avarkal yepthaavai Nnokki: unakku engal thakappan veettilae suthantharam illai; nee anniya sthireeyin makan entu solli avanaith thuraththinaarkal. And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and his wife's sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father's house; for thou art the son of a strange woman.

3 Appoluthu yepthaa: than sakothararai vittu otippoy, thopthaesaththilae kutiyirunthaan; veenaraana manushar yepthaavotae kootikkonndu, avanotaekooda yuththaththirkup povaarkal. Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.

4 Sila naalaikkuppinpu, ammon puththirar isravaelin mael yuththam pannnninaarkal. And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel.

5 Avarkal isravaelinmael yuththam pannnumpothu geelaeyaaththin mooppar yepthaavaith thopthaesaththilirunthu alaiththuvarappoy, And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob:

6 Yepthaavai Nnokki: nee vanthu, naangal ammon puththirarodu yuththam pannna engal senaapathiyaayirukka vaenndum entarkal. And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

7 Atharku yepthaa geelaeyaaththi moopparaip paarththu: neengal allavaa ennaip pakaiththu, en thakappan veettilirunthu ennaith thuraththinavarkal? Ippoluthu ungalukku aapaththu naerittirukkira samayaththil neengal ennidaththil aen varukireerkal entan. And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father's house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress?

8 Atharkuk geelaeyaaththin mooppar yepthaavai Nnokki: nee engaludanaekooda vanthu, ammon puththirarodu yuththampannnni, geelaeyaaththin kutikalaakiya engal anaivarmaelum thalaivanaayirukka vaenndum; itharkaaka ippoluthu unnidaththil vanthom entarkal. And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore we turn again to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

9 Atharku yepthaa: ammon puththirarotae yuththampannna, neengal ennaith thirumpa alaiththupponapinpu, Karththar avarkalai en munnilaiyaay oppukkoduththaal, ennai ungalukkuth thalaivanaay vaippeerkalaa entu geelaeyaaththin moopparaik kaettan. And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?

10 Geelaeyaaththin mooppar yepthaavaip paarththu: naangal un vaarththaiyinpatiyae seyyaavittal, Karththar namakku nadunintu kaetpaaraaka entarkal. And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, The LORD be witness between us, if we do not so according to thy words.

11 Appoluthu yepthaa geelaeyaaththin moopparotae koodapponaan; janangal avanaith thangalmael thalaivanum senaapathiyumaaka vaiththaarkal. Yepthaa than kaariyangalaiyellaam mispaavilae karththarutaiya sannithiyilae sonnaan. Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.

12 Pinpu yepthaa ammon puththirarin raajaavinidaththirku sthaanaapathikalai anuppi: nee en thaesaththil enakku virothamaaka yuththampannna varukiratharku, enakkum unakkum enna valakku irukkirathu entu kaetkachchaொnnaan. And Jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come against me to fight in my land?

13 Ammon puththirarin raajaa yepthaavin sthaanaapathikalai Nnokki: isravaelar ekipthilirunthu varukirapothu, arnon thuvakki yaapokmattum, yorthaanmattum irukkira en thaesaththaik kattikkonndaarkalae; ippoluthu athai enakkuch samaathaanamaayth thirumpakkoduththuvida vaenndum entu sollungal entan. And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably.

14 Yepthaa maraுpatiyum ammon puththirarin raajaavinidaththirku sthaanaapathikalai anuppi, avanukkuch sollach sonnathaavathu: And Jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of Ammon:

15 Yepthaa sollukirathu ennavental: isravaelar movaapiyarin thaesaththaiyaakilum, ammon puththirarin thaesaththaiyaakilum kattikkonndathillaiyae. And said unto him, Thus saith Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:

16 Isravaelar ekipthilirunthu varukirapothu, vanaantharaththil sivantha samuththira mattum nadanthu, pinpu kaathaesukku vanthu, But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness unto the Red sea, and came to Kadesh;

17 Isravaelar aethomin raajaavinidaththirku sthaanaapathikalai anuppi: naangal un thaesaththuvaliyaayk kadanthu pokattum entu sollachchaொnnaarkal; atharku aethomin raajaa sevikodukkavillai; appatiyae movaapin raajaavidaththirkum anuppinaarkal; avanum sammathikkavillai. Aathalaal isravaelar kaathaesilae thariththirunthu, Then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of Edom would not hearken thereto. And in like manner they sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh.

18 Pinpu vanaantharavaliyaay nadanthu aethom thaesaththaiyum movaap thaesaththaiyum suttippoy, movaapin thaesaththirkuk kilakkae vanthu, movaapin ellaikkul piravaesiyaamal, movaapin ellaiyaana arnon nathikku appaalae paalayamiranginaarkal. Then they went along through the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab.

19 Appoluthu isravaelar esponil aalukira seekon ennum emoriyarin raajaavinidaththirku sthaanaapathikalai anuppi: naangal un thaesaththu valiyaay engal sthaanaththirkuk kadanthupoka idangaொdu entu sollachchaொnnaarkal. And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land into my place.

20 Seekon isravaelarai nampaathathinaal, than ellaiyaik kadanthupokiratharku idangaொdaamal than janangalaiyellaam kootti, yaakaasilae paalayamirangi, isravaelarotae yuththam pannnninaan. But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

21 Appoluthu isravaelin thaevanaakiya Karththar seekonaiyum avanutaiya ellaa janangalaiyum isravaelarin kaiyil oppukkoduththaar; avarkalai muriya atiththaarkal; appatiyae isravaelar antha thaesaththilae kutiyiruntha emoriyarin seemaiyaiyellaam pitiththu, arnon thuvakki, And the LORD God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country.

22 Yaapokmattum vanaantharam thuvakki yorthaanmattum irukkira emoriyarin ellaiyaiyellaam suthantharamaayk kattikkonndaarkal. And they possessed all the coasts of the Amorites, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and from the wilderness even unto Jordan.

23 Ippati isravaelin thaevanaakiya Karththar emoriyaraith thammutaiya janamaakiya isravaelukku munpaakath thuraththiyirukka, neer antha thaesaththaik kattikkollaththakumaa? So now the LORD God of Israel hath dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possess it?

24 Ummutaiya thaevanaakiya kaamos umakku munpaakath thuraththukiravarkalin thaesaththai neer kattikkollamaattiro? Appatiyae engal thaevanaakiya Karththar engalukku munpaakath thuraththukiravarkalin thaesaththaiyellaam naangalum kattikkollukirom. Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomsoever the LORD our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.

25 Maelum sipporin kumaaranaakiya paalaak ennum movaapin raajaavaip paarkkilum umakku athika niyaayam unntoo? Avan isravaelotae eppothaakilum valakkaatinaanaa? Eppothaakilum avarkalukku virothamaaka yuththam pannnninaanaa? And now art thou any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them,

26 Isravaelar esponilum athin kiraamangalilum, aarovaerilum athin kiraamangalilum, arnon nathiyarukaana ellaa oorkalilum, munnooraு varusham kutiyirukkaiyil, ivvalavukaalamaay neengal athaith thiruppikkollaathae ponathenna? While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and her towns, and in Aroer and her towns, and in all the cities that be along by the coasts of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did ye not recover them within that time?

27 Naan umakku virothamaayk kuttam seyyavillai; neer enakku virothamaay yuththam pannnukirathinaal neer thaan enakku aniyaayam seykireer; niyaayaathipathiyaakiya Karththar intu Israel puththirarukkum ammon puththirarukkum nadunintu niyaayam theerkkakkadavar entu solli anuppinaan. Wherefore I have not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong to war against me: the LORD the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.

28 Aanaalum ammon puththirarin raajaa thanakku yepthaa solliyanuppina vaarththaikalukkuch sevikodaathae ponaan. Howbeit the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not unto the words of Jephthah which he sent him.

29 Appoluthu karththarutaiya aavi yepthaavin mael iranginaar; avan geelaeyaaththaiyum manaase naattaைyum kadanthupoy, geelaeyaaththilirukkira mispaavukku vanthu, angaeyirunthu ammon puththirarukku virothamaakap ponaan. Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.

30 Appoluthu yepthaa karththarukku oru poruththanaiyaip pannnni: thaevareer ammon puththirarai en kaiyil oppukkodukkavae oppukkoduththaal, And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands,

31 Naan ammon puththiraridaththilirunthu samaathaanaththotae thirumpi varumpothu, en veettu vaasarpatiyilirunthu enakku ethirkonndu varuvathu ethuvo athu karththarukku uriyathaakum. Athaich sarvaanga thakanapaliyaakach seluththuvaen entan. Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.

32 Yepthaa ammon puththirarinmael yuththampannna, avarkalukku virothamaayp purappattupponaan; Karththar avarkalai avan kaiyil oppukkoduththaar. So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.

33 Avan avarkalai aarovaer thuvakki minniththirkup pokumattum, thiraatchaththottaththu nilangal varaikkum, makaa sangaaramaay muriya atiththu, irupathu pattanangalaip pitiththaan; ippati ammon puththirar Israel puththirarukku munpaakath thaalththappattarkal. And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.

34 Yepthaa mispaavilirukkira than veettukku varukirapothu, itho, avan kumaaraththi thampuru vaasiththu nadananjaெythu, avanukku ethirkonndu vanthaal; aval avanukku orae pillaiyaanaval; avalaiyallaamal avanukkuk kumaaranum illai kumaaraththiyum illai. And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter.

35 Avan avalaik kanndavudanae than vasthirangalaik kiliththukkonndu: aiyo! En makalae, ennai mikavum manamatiyavum kalangavum pannnukiraay; naan karththarai Nnokki en vaayaith thiranthu sollivittaேn; athai naan maattak koodaathu entan. And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.

36 Appoluthu aval: en thakappanae, neer karththarai Nnokki ummutaiya vaayaith thiranthu paesineerallavo? Ammon puththiraraakiya, ummutaiya saththurukkalukku neethiyaich sarikkattum jeyaththaik Karththar umakkuk kattalaiyittapatiyinaal, ummutaiya vaayilirunthu purappattapatiyae enakkuch seyyum ental. And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon.

37 Pinnum avan than thakappanai Nnokki: neer enakku oru kaariyam seyya vaenndum; naan malaikalinmael poyththirinthu, naanum en tholimaarkalum en kannimaiyinimiththam thukkangaொnndaada, enakku iranndumaatham thavannaikodum ental. And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my fellows.

38 Atharku avan: poy vaa entu avalai iranndu maathaththirku anuppivittan; aval than tholimaarkalodum koodappoy, than kannimaiyinimiththam malaikalin mael thukkangaொnndaati, And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains.

39 Iranndumaatham mutinthapinpu, than thakappanidaththirkuth thirumpivanthaal; appoluthu avan pannnniyiruntha than poruththanaiyin pati avalukkuch seythaan; aval purushanai ariyaathirunthaal. And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,

40 Ithinimiththam isravaelin kumaaraththikal varushanthoraுm poy, naalu naal geelaeyaaththiyanaana yepthaavin kumaaraththiyaikkuriththup pulampuvathu isravaelilae valakkamaayittaு. That the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.
