মোশি ঐ স্থানের নাম দিল মঃসা ও মরীবা, কারণ ঐ স্থানেই ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা তার বিরোধিতা এবং ঈশ্বরের পরীক্ষা নিয়েছিল| লোকজন চেযেছিল প্রভু তাদের সঙ্গে আছেন কিনা তা পরীক্ষা করে দেখতে|

And he called	וַיִּקְרָא֙	wayyiqrāʾ	va-yeek-RA
the name	שֵׁ֣ם	šēm	shame
of the place	הַמָּק֔וֹם	hammāqôm	ha-ma-KOME
Massah,	מַסָּ֖ה	massâ	ma-SA
and Meribah,	וּמְרִיבָ֑ה	ûmĕrîbâ	oo-meh-ree-VA
because of	עַל	ʿal	al
the chiding	רִ֣יב׀	rîb	reev
children the of	בְּנֵ֣י	bĕnê	beh-NAY
of Israel,	יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל	yiśrāʾēl	yees-ra-ALE
and because	וְעַ֨ל	wĕʿal	veh-AL
they tempted	נַסֹּתָ֤ם	nassōtām	na-soh-TAHM
	אֶת	ʾet	et
Lord, the	יְהוָה֙	yĕhwāh	yeh-VA
saying,	לֵאמֹ֔ר	lēʾmōr	lay-MORE
Is	הֲיֵ֧שׁ	hăyēš	huh-YAYSH
the Lord	יְהוָ֛ה	yĕhwâ	yeh-VA
among	בְּקִרְבֵּ֖נוּ	bĕqirbēnû	beh-keer-BAY-noo
us, or	אִם	ʾim	eem
not?	אָֽיִן׃	ʾāyin	AH-yeen
