1 తరువాత సమ్సోను గాజాకు వెళ్లి వేశ్య నొకతెను చూచి ఆమెయొద్ద చేరెను.

2 ​సమ్సోను అక్కడికి వచ్చె నని గాజావారికి తెలిసినప్పుడు వారు మాటు పెట్టిరేపు తెల్లవారిన తరువాత అతని చంపుదమను కొని పట్టణపు ద్వారమునొద్ద ఆ రాత్రి అంతయు పొంచియుండిరి.

3 సమ్సోను మధ్యరాత్రివరకు పండు కొని మధ్యరాత్రి లేచి పట్టణపు తలుపులను వాటి రెండు ద్వారబంధములను పట్టుకొని వాటి అడ్డకఱ్ఱతోటి వాటిని ఊడబెరికి తన భుజములమీద పెట్టుకొని హెబ్రోనుకు ఎదురుగానున్న కొండకొనకు వాటిని తీసి కొనిపోయెను.

4 పిమ్మట అతడు శోరేకు లోయలోనున్న దెలీలా అను స్త్రీని మోహింపగా

5 ఫిలిష్తీయుల సర్దారులు ఆమె యొద్దకు వచ్చి ఆమెతోనీవు అతని లాలనచేసి అతని గొప్ప బలము దేనిలోనున్నదో, మేమేలాగు అతని గెలువ వచ్చునో తెలిసికొనుము; మేము అతని బంధించి అతని గర్వము అణుపుదుము, అప్పుడు మాలో ప్రతివాడును వెయ్యిన్నినూరు వెండి నాణములను నీకిచ్చెదమని చెప్పిరి.

6 కాబట్టి దెలీలానీ మహాబలము దేనిలోనున్నదో నిన్ను దేనిచేత కట్టి బాధింపవచ్చునో నాకు దయచేసి తెలుపు మని సమ్సోనుతో ననగా

7 ​సమ్సోనుఏడు నిరవంజి చువ్వలతో నన్ను బంధించినయెడల నేను బలహీనుడనై సామాన్య మనుష్యులలో ఒకనివలె అవుదునని ఆమెతో చెప్పెను.

8 ​ఫిలిష్తీయుల సర్దారులు ఏడు నిరవంజి చువ్వ లను ఆమెయొద్దకు తీసికొని రాగా ఆమె వాటితో అతని బంధించెను.

9 మాటుననుండువారు ఆమెతో అంతఃపుర ములో దిగియుండిరి గనుక ఆమెసమ్సోనూ, ఫిలిష్తీ యులు నీమీద పడుచున్నారని అతనితో అనగా, అతడు అగ్నితగిలిన నూలు రీతిగా ఆ తడపలను తెంపెను గనుక అతని బలము తెలియబడలేదు.

10 అప్పుడు దెలీలాఇదిగో నీవు నన్ను ఎగతాళిచేసి నాతో అబద్ధమాడితివి, నిన్ను దేనిచేత బంధింప వచ్చునో దయచేసి నాకు తెలుపుమని సమ్సోనుతో చెప్పగా

11 అతడుపేనిన తరువాత పనికిపెట్టని క్రొత్తతాళ్లతో నన్ను బాగుగా బంధించినయెడల నేను బలహీనుడనై సామాన్య మనుష్యులలో ఒకనివలె అవుదునని ఆమెతో చెప్పెను

12 అంతట దెలీలా పేనబడిన క్రొత్త తాళ్లను తీసికొని వాటితో అతని బంధించి సమ్సోనూ, షిలిష్తీయులు నీమీద పడుచున్నారని అతనితో అనెను. అప్పుడు మాటున నుండువారు అంతఃపురములో నుండిరి. అతడు తన చేతులమీదనుండి నూలుపోగునువలె ఆ తాళ్లు తెంపెను.

13 అప్పుడు దెలీలాఇదివరకు నీవు నన్ను ఎగతాళిచేసి నాతో అబద్ధములాడితివి, నిన్ను దేని వలన బంధింపవచ్చునో నాకు తెలుపుమని సమ్సోనుతో చెప్పగా అతడునీవు నా తల జడలు ఏడును అల్లిక అల్లిన యెడల సరి అని ఆమెతో చెప్పెను.

14 అంతట ఆమె మేకుతో దాని దిగగొట్టిసమ్సోనూ, ఫిలిష్తీయులు నీ మీద పడుచున్నారని అతనితో చెప్పినప్పుడు అతడు నిద్రమేలు కొని మగ్గపు మేకును నేతను ఊడదీసికొని పోయెను.

15 అప్పుడు ఆమెనాయందు నీకిష్టము లేనప్పుడునేను నిన్ను ప్రేమించుచున్నానని నీవెందుకు చెప్పు చున్నావు? ఇదివరకు నీవు ముమ్మారు నన్ను ఎగతాళిచేసి నీ గొప్పబలము దేనిలోనున్నదో నాకు తెలుపక పోతివని అతనితో అనెను.

16 ఆమె అనుదినమును మాటలచేత అత ని బాధించి తొందరపెట్టుచున్నందున అతడు ప్రాణము విసికి చావగోరెను.

17 అప్పుడతడు తన అభిప్రాయమంతయు ఆమెకు తెలియజేసినేను నా తల్లిగర్భమునుండి పుట్టి నది మొలుకొని దేవునికి నాజీరు చేయబడినవాడనై యున్నాను, నా తలమీదికి మంగలకత్తి రాలేదు, నాకు క్షౌరముచేసినయెడల నా బలము నాలోనుండి తొలగి పోయి యితర మనుష్యులవలె అవుదునని ఆమెతో అనెను.

18 అతడు తన అభిప్రాయమును తనకు తెలిపెనని దెలీలా యెరిగి, ఆమె వర్తమానము పంపి ఫిలిష్తీయుల సర్దారులను పిలిపించియీసారికి రండి; ఇతడు తన అభి ప్రాయమంతయు నాకు తెలిపెననెను. ఫిలిష్తీయుల సర్దారులు రూపాయిలను చేత పట్టుకొని ఆమెయొద్దకు రాగా

19 ఆమె తన తొడమీద అతని నిద్రబుచ్చి, ఒక మనుష్యుని పిలిపించి వానిచేత అతని తలమీది యేడు జడ లను క్షౌరము చేయించి అతని బాధించుటకు మొదలు పెట్టెను. అప్పుడు అతనిలోనుండి బలము తొలగిపోయెను.

20 ఆమెసమ్సోనూ, ఫిలిష్తీయులు నీమీద పడు చున్నారనగా అతడు నిద్రమేలుకొనియెప్పటియట్లు నేను బయలుదేరి విడజిమ్ముకొందుననుకొనెను. అయితే యెహోవా తనను ఎడబాసెనని అతనికి తెలియలేదు.

21 అప్పుడు ఫిలిష్తీయులు అతని పట్టుకొని అతని కన్నులను ఊడదీసి గాజాకు అతని తీసికొని వచ్చి యిత్తడి సంకెళ్లచేత అతని బంధించిరి.

22 అతడు బందీగృహములో తిరగలి విసరువాడాయెను. అయితే అతడు క్షౌరము చేయబడిన తరువాత అతని తలవెండ్రుకలుతిరిగి మొలుచుటకు మొదలు పెట్టెను.

23 ఫిలిష్తీయుల సర్దారులుమన దేవత మన శత్రువైన సమ్సోనును మనచేతికి అప్పగించియున్నదని చెప్పుకొని, తమ దేవతయైన దాగోనుకు మహాబలి అర్పించుటకును పండుగ ఆచరించుటకును కూడు కొనిరి.

24 జనులు సమ్సో నును చూచినప్పుడుమన దేశమును పాడుచేసినవాడును మనలో అనేకులను చంపినవాడునైన మన శత్రువుని మన దేవత మన చేతి కప్పగించియున్నదని చెప్పుకొనుచు తమ దేవతను స్తుతించిరి.

25 వారి హృదయములు సంతోషముతో నిండియుండగా వారుమనము పరిహాసము చేయుటకు సమ్సోనును పిలిపించుదము రండని సమ్సోనును బందీ గృహమునుండి పిలువనంపిరి. వారు అతని చూచి గుడి స్తంభముల మధ్యను అతని నిలువ బెట్టి పరిహాసముచేయగా

26 సమ్సోను తనచేతిని పట్టు కొనిన బంటుతో ఇట్లనెనుఈ గుడికి ఆధారముగానున్న స్తంభములను నన్ను తడవనిచ్చి విడువుము, నేను వాటిమీద ఆనుకొందును.

27 ఆ గుడి స్త్రీ పురుషులతో నిండియుండెను, ఫిలిష్తీయుల సర్దారు లందరు అక్కడ నుండిరి, వారు సమ్సోనును ఎగతాళి చేయగా గుడి కప్పుమీద స్త్రీ పురుషులు రమారమి మూడు వేలమంది చూచుచుండిరి.

28 అప్పుడు సమ్సోను యెహోవా ప్రభువా, దయచేసి నన్ను జ్ఞాపకము చేసి కొనుము, దేవా దయచేసి యీసారి మాత్రమే నన్ను బల పరచుము, నా రెండు కన్నుల నిమిత్తము ఫిలిష్తీయులను ఒక్కమారే దండించి పగతీర్చుకొననిమ్మని యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టి

29 ఆ గుడికి ఆధారముగానున్న రెండు మధ్య స్తంభములలో ఒకదానిని కుడిచేతను ఒకదానిని ఎడమ చేతను పట్టుకొని

30 ​నేనును ఫిలిష్తీయులును చనిపోదుము గాక అని చెప్పి బలముతో వంగినప్పుడు గుడి ఆ సర్దారుల మీదను దానిలోనున్న జనులందరి మీదను పడెను. మరణ కాలమున అతడు చంపినవారి శవముల లెక్క జీవితకాల మందు అతడు చంపినవారి లెక్కకంటె ఎక్కువాయెను.

31 అప్పుడు అతని స్వదేశజనులును అతని తండ్రి యింటివా రందరును కూడి అతనిని మోసికొనివచ్చి జొర్యాకును ఎష్తాయోలుకును మధ్యనున్న అతని తండ్రియైన మానోహ సమాధిలో అతని పాతిపెట్టిరి. అతడు ఇరువది సంవత్సర ములు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు అధిపతిగానుండెను.

1 Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.

2 And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.

3 And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.

4 And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

5 And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.

7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.

9 Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

12 Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.

13 And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.

14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.

15 And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.

16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;

17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.

18 And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.

19 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.

21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

22 Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.

23 Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

24 And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.

25 And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

26 And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

27 Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

28 And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.

30 And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

31 Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.
