Jeremiah 40
1 రాజదేహసంరక్షకులకధిపతియైన నెబూజరదాను యెరూషలేములోనుండియు యూదాలోనుండియు బబు లోనునకు చెరగా కొనిపోబడిన బందీ జనులందరిలోనుండి, సంకెళ్లచేత కట్టబడియున్న యిర్మీయాను తీసికొని రామాలో నుండి పంపివేయగా, యెహోవా యొద్దనుండి అతనికి ప్రత్యక్షమైన వాక్కు.
2 రాజదేహసంరక్షకుల కధిపతి యిర్మీయాను అవతలికి తీసికొపోయి అతనితో ఈలాగు మాటలాడెనుఈ స్థలమునకు నేను ఈ కీడు చేసెదనని నీ దేవుడగు యెహోవా ప్రకటించెను గదా.
3 తాను చెప్పిన ప్రకారము యెహోవా దాని రప్పించి చేయించెను, మీరు యెహోవాకు విరోధముగా పాపముచేసి ఆయన మాటలు వినక పోతిరి గనుక మీకీగతి పట్టినది.
4 ఆలకించుము, ఈ దినమున నేను నీ చేతుల సంకెళ్లను తీసి నిన్ను విడిపించు చున్నాను, నాతోకూడ బబులోనునకు వచ్చుట మంచిదని నీకు తోచినయెడల రమ్ము, నేను నిన్ను భద్రముగా కాపాడెదను; అయితే బబులోనునకు నాతోకూడ వచ్చుట మంచిదికాదని నీకు తోచినయెడల రావద్దు, దేశమంతట నీకేమియు అడ్డములేదు, ఎక్కడికి వెళ్లుట నీ దృష్టికి అను కూలమో, యెక్కడికి వెళ్లుట మంచిదని నీకు తోచునో అక్కడికి వెళ్లుము.
5 ఇంకను అతడు తిరిగి వెళ్లక తడవు చేయగా రాజదేహసంరక్షకుల కధిపతి అతనితో ఈలాగు చెప్పెనుబబులోను రాజు షాఫాను కుమారుడైన అహీ కాము కుమారుడగు గెద ల్యాను యూదాపట్టణములమీద నియమించి యున్నాడు, అతని యొద్దకు వెళ్లుము; అతని యొద్ద నివసించి ప్రజలమధ్యను కాపురముండుము, లేదా యెక్కడికి వెళ్లుట నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలమో అక్కడికే వెళ్లుము. మరియు రాజదేహసంరక్షకుల కధిపతి అతనికి బత్తెమును బహుమానము ఇచ్చి అతని సాగనంపగా
6 యిర్మీయా మిస్పాలోనుండు అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాయొద్దకు వెళ్లి అతనితో కూడ దేశములో మిగిలిన ప్రజలమధ్య కాపురముండెను.
7 అయితే అచ్చటచ్చటనుండు సేనల యధిపతులందరును వారి పటాలపువారును, బబులోనురాజు అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాను దేశముమీద అధికారిగా నియమించి, బబులోనునకు చెరగొని పోబడక నిలిచినవారిలో స్త్రీలను పురుషులను పిల్లలను, దేశములోని అతినీరసులైన దరిద్రులను అతనికి అప్పగించెనని వినిరి.
8 కాగా నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలును కారేహ కుమారులైన యోహా నాను యోనాతానులును తన్హుమెతు కుమారుడైన శెరాయా యును నెటోపాతీయుడైన ఏపయి కుమారులును మాయ కాతీయుడైనవాని కుమారుడగు యెజన్యాయును వారి పటాలపువారును మిస్పాలో నుండిన గెదల్యాయొద్దకు వచ్చిరి.
9 అప్పుడు షాఫాను కుమారుడైన అహీకాము కుమారుడగు గెదల్యా ప్రమాణముచేసి వారితోను వారి పటాలపువారితోను ఈలాగు చెప్పెనుమీరు కల్దీయులను సేవించుటకు భయపడకుడి, దేశములో కాపురముండి బబులోనురాజును సేవించినయెడల మీకు మేలు కలుగును.
10 నేనైతేనో నాయొద్దకు వచ్చు కల్దీయుల యెదుట నిలుచు టకై మిస్పాలో కాపురముందును గాని మీరు ద్రాక్షారసమును వేసవికాల ఫలములను తైలమును సమకూర్చుకొని, మీ పాత్రలలో వాటిని పోసికొని మీరు స్వాధీనపరచుకొనిన పట్టణములలో కాపురముండుడి.
11 మోయాబులో నేమి అమ్మోనీయుల మధ్యనేమి ఎదోములో నేమి యేయే ప్రదేశములలోనేమి యున్న యూదులందరు బబు లోనురాజు యూదాలో జనశేషమును విడిచెననియు, షాఫాను కుమారుడైన అహీకాము కుమారుడగు గెదల్యాను వారిమీద నియమించెననియు వినినప్పుడు
12 అందరును తాము తోలివేయబడిన స్థలములన్నిటిని విడిచి మిస్పాకు గెదల్యాయొద్దకు వచ్చి బహు విస్తారము ద్రాక్షారసమును వేసవికాలపు పండ్లను సమకూర్చుకొనిరి.
13 మరియు కారేహ కుమారుడైన యోహానానును, అచ్చ టచ్చటనున్న సేనల యధిపతులందరును మిస్పా లోనున్న గెదల్యాయొద్దకు వచ్చి
14 నిన్ను చంపుటకు అమ్మోనీయుల రాజైన బయలీను నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలును పంపెనని నీకు తెలియదా అని చెప్పిరి. అయితే అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యా వారి మాట నమ్మలేదు.
15 కారేహ కుమారుడగు యోహానాను మిస్పాలో గెదల్యాతో రహస్యముగా ఇట్లనెనునీయొద్దకు కూడివచ్చిన యూదు లందరు చెదరిపోవునట్లును, యూదా జనశేషము నశించు నట్లును నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు నిన్ను చంపనేల?దయచేసి నన్ను వెళ్లనిమ్ము,ఎవనికి తెలియకుండ నేను వానిని చంపెదను.
16 అందుకు అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యా కారేహ కుమారుడైన యోహానానుతోఇష్మా యేలునుగూర్చి నీవు అబద్ధమాడుచున్నావు, నీవాకార్యము చేయకూడదనెను.
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.
2 And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.
3 Now the Lord hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
4 And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
5 Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
6 Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
7 Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
8 Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
9 And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10 As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
11 Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
12 Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
13 Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
14 And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
15 Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
16 But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
3 And say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,
4 Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
5 That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O Lord.
6 Then the Lord said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.
7 For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.
8 Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.
9 And the Lord said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
10 They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
11 Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.
12 Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.
13 For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.
14 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.
15 What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
16 The Lord called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
17 For the Lord of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.
18 And the Lord hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.
19 But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
20 But, O Lord of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
21 Therefore thus saith the Lord of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the Lord, that thou die not by our hand:
22 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:
23 And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
