తొమి్మదియవ సంవత్సరము పదియవ నెల పది యవ దినమున యెహోవా వాక్కు నాకు ప్రత్యక్షమై యీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను

அப்சலோம் தாவீதின் வீரர்களை சந்திக்க நேர்ந்தது; அப்சலோம் கோவேறு கழுதையின்மேல் ஏறிவரும்போது, அந்தக் கோவேறு கழுதை பின்னலான ஒரு பெரிய கர்வாலிமரத்தின்கீழ் வந்ததினால், அவனுடைய தலை கர்வாலி மரத்தில் மாட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவன் வானத்திற்கும் பூமிக்கும் நடுவே தொங்கினான்; அவன் ஏறியிருந்த கோவேறு கழுதை தள்ளிப்போனது.

அப்சலோம் தாவீதின் அதிகாரிகளைச் சந்திக்க நேர்ந்தது. அப்சலோம் தனது கோவேறு கழுதையின் மேலேறிக்கொண்டு, தப்பித்துச்செல்ல முயன்றான். ஒரு பெரிய கர்வாலி மரத்தின் கீழே அந்தக் கோவேறு கழுதைச் சென்றது. அதன் கிளைகள் அடர்த்தியாக இருந்தன. அப்சலோமின் தலை மரத்தில் அகப்பட்டுக்கொண்டது, அவன் ஏறி வந்த கோவேறு கழுதை ஓடிவிட்டதால், அப்சலோம் நிலத்திற்கு மேலாகத் தொங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
