கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே செலொப்பியாத்தின் குமாரத்திகள் செய்தார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது அவர்: நீ வெளியே வந்து கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக மலையின்மேல் நில் என்றார்; அப்பொழுது, இதோ, கர்த்தர் கடந்துபோனார்; கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகப் மலைகளைப் பிளக்கிறதும் பாறைகளை உடைக்கிறதுமான பலத்த பெருங்காற்று உண்டானது; ஆனாலும் அந்தக் காற்றிலே கர்த்தர் இருக்கவில்லை; காற்றுக்குப்பின்பு பூமி அதிர்ச்சி உண்டானது; பூமி அதிர்ச்சியிலும் கர்த்தர் இருக்கவில்லை.

கர்த்தர் எலியாவிடம், “எனக்கு முன்னால் மலையின் மேல் நில் அப்பொழுது நான் உன்னை கடந்து செல்வேன்” என்றார். பிறகு ஒரு பலமான காற்று அடித்தது. அது மலைகளை உடைப்பதுபோல் இருந்தது. ஆனால் அது கர்த்தர் அல்ல! பிறகு நில அதிர்ச்சி உண்டாயிற்று. அதுவும் கர்த்தர் அல்ல!

அப்போது ஆண்டவர், “வெளியே வா; மலைமேல் என் திருமுன் வந்து நில். இதோ! ஆண்டவராகிய நான் கடந்து செல்லவிருக்கிறேன்” என்றார். உடனே ஆண்டவர் திருமுன் பெரும் சுழற்காற்று எழுந்து மலைகளைப் பிளந்து பாறைகளைச் சிதறடித்தது. ஆனால், ஆண்டவர் அந்தக் காற்றில் இல்லை. காற்றுக்குப் பின் நிலநடுக்கம் ஏற்பட்டது. நிலநடுக்கத்திலும் ஆண்டவர் இருக்கவில்லை.
