ஆதிமுதல் எல்லாவற்றையும் திட்டமாய் விசாரοத்தறிந்த நானும் உமக்கு உபதேசிக்கப்பட்ட விசேஷங்களின் நிச்சயத்தை நீர் அறியவேண்டுமென்று,

என் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்கமாட்டோம் என்று மறுத்து, தங்கள் இருதயத்தின் கடினத்தின்படி நடந்து, அந்நிய தெய்வங்களை வணங்கி அவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளவும் அவர்களைப் பின்பற்றுகிற இந்தப் பொல்லாத மக்கள் ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாமற்போன இந்தக் கச்சையைப் போலாவார்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

யூதாவிலுள்ள வீண் பெருமையும், தீமையும்கொண்ட ஜனங்களை, நான் அழிப்பேன். அவர்கள் எனது வார்த்தையைக் கேட்க மறுத்தனர். அவர்கள் பிடிவாதமுள்ளவர்களாக விரும்புகின்றவற்றை மட்டுமே செய்தனர். அவர்கள் அந்நிய தெய்வங்களைப் பின் பற்றி தொழுதுகொண்டனர். யூதாவிலுள்ள அந்த ஜனங்கள் இந்தச் சணல் இடுப்புத் துணியைப்போன்று ஆவார்கள். அவர்கள் அழிக்கப்பட்டு எதற்கும் பயனற்றுப் போவார்கள்.

தெயோப்பிலுவே, இயேசுவானவர் தாம் தெரிந்துகொண்ட அப்போஸ்தலருக்குப் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலே கட்டளையிட்ட பின்பு,

அதற்கு அவன்: கனம்பொருந்திய பெஸ்துவே, நான் பயித்தியக்காரனல்ல, சத்தியமும் சொஸ்தபுத்தியுமுள்ள வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுகிறேன்.

கனம்பொருந்திய தேசாதிபதியாகிய பேலிக்ஸ் என்பவருக்குக் கிலவுதியு லீசியா வாழ்த்துதல் சொல்லி அறிவிக்கிறது என்னவென்றால்:

அதற்குப் பேதுரு காரியத்தை முதலிலிருந்து வரிசையாய் அவர்களுக்கு விவரிக்கத்தொடங்கி:

கனம்பொருந்தின பேலிக்ஸே உம்மாலே நாங்கள் மிகுந்த சமாதான சவுக்கியத்தை அநுபவிக்கிறதையும் உம்முடைய பராமரிப்பினாலே இந்தத் தேசத்தாருக்குச் சிறந்த நன்மைகள் நடக்கிறதையும் நாங்கள் எப்பொழுதும் எங்கும் மிகுந்த நன்றியறிதலுடனே அங்கிகாரம்பண்ணுகிறோம்.

இவைகளை நீ செய்யும்போது நான் மவுனமாயிருந்தேன், உன்னைப்போல் நானும் இருப்பேன் என்று நினைவுகொண்டாய்; ஆனாலும் நான் உன்னைக் கடிந்துகொண்டு, அவைகளை உன் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக ஒவ்வொன்றாக நிறுத்துவேன்.

ஆதலால் புறஜாதிகளில் தேவனிடத்தில் திரும்புகிறவர்களைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணலாகாதென்றும்,

நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் நாமத்திற்காகத் தங்கள் பிராணனையும் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கத் துணிந்தவர்களும் எங்களுக்குப் பிரியமானவர்களுமாயிருக்கிற பர்னபா பவுல் என்பவர்களோடுங்கூட,

எவையெனில், விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப்படைத்தவைகளுக்கும், இரத்தத்திற்கும், நெருக்குண்டு செத்ததிற்கும் வேசித்தனத்திற்கும், நீங்கள் விலகியிருக்கவேண்டுமென்பதே.

ஆகிலும் என்னுடைய அபிப்பிராயத்தின்படி அவள் அப்படியே இருந்துவிட்டால் பாக்கியவதியாயிருப்பாள். என்னிடத்திலும் தேவனுடைய ஆவி உண்டென்று எண்ணுகிறேன்.

சகோதரனாகிய அப்பொல்லோவைக்குறித்தோவெனில், சகோதரரோடேகூட உங்களிடத்தில் வரும்படிக்கு அவனை மிகவும் வேண்டிக்கொண்டேன்; ஆகிலும் இப்பொழுது வர அவனுக்கு மனதில்லை; அவனுக்கு நற்சமயம் உண்டாயிருக்கும்போது வருவான்.

என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, நீர் எங்கள் நிமித்தஞ்செய்த உம்முடைய அதிசயங்களும் உம்முடைய யோசனைகளும் அநேகமாயிருக்கிறது; ஒருவரும் அவைகளை உமக்கு விவரித்துச்சொல்லிமுடியாது; நான் அவைகளைச் சொல்லி அறிவிக்கவேண்டுமானால் அவைகள் எண்ணிக்கைக்கு மேலானவைகள்.
