மரணத்துக்கு ஆசையாய்க் காத்திருந்து, புதையலைத் தேடுகிறதுபோல அதைத் தேடியும் அடையாமற்போகிறவர்களும்,

அவர்களிடத்தில் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் கேட்கும் மக்களும், எருசலேமின் வீதிகளில் பட்டயத்தாலும் பஞ்சத்தாலும் அழிந்து, அவர்களும் அவர்கள் மனைவிகளும், மகன்களும், மகள்களும் அடக்கம்செய்வாரில்லாமல் கிடப்பார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய பொல்லாப்பை அவர்கள்மேல் வரச்செய்வேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

அத்தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் பேசுகிற ஜனங்களும் வீதிகளில் எறியப்படுவார்கள். அந்த ஜனங்கள் பசியாலும், பகைவரின் வாளாலும் மரிப்பார்கள். அந்த ஜனங்களையும் அவர்களது மனைவிகளையும், மகன்களையும், மகள்களையும் புதைக்க எவரும் இருக்கமாட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் செய்த தீமையைக்கொண்டே நான் அவர்களைத் தண்டிப்பேன்.
