பூமியிலுள்ள உயர்ந்த ஸ்தானங்களின்மேல் அவனை ஏறிவரப்பண்ணினார்; வயலில் விளையும் பலனை அவனுக்குப் புசிக்கக் கொடுத்தார்; கன்மலையிலுள்ள தேனையும், கற்பாறையிலிருந்து வடியும் எண்ணெயையும் அவன் உண்ணும்படி செய்தார்.

இந்தக்காரியங்கள் நிறைவேறிவரும்போது அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய சனகெரிப் வந்து, யூதாவுக்குள் பிரவேசித்து, பாதுகாப்பான பட்டணங்களுக்கு எதிராக முகாமிட்டு, அவைகளைத் தன் வசமாக்கிக்கொள்ள நினைத்தான்.

இவையனைத்தையும் எசேக்கியா உண்மையுடன் செய்து முடித்தப் பிறகு, சனகெரிப் எனும் அசீரியா அரசன் யூதா நாட்டைத் தாக்க வந்தான். சனகெரிப்பும் அவனது படைகளும் கோட்டைக்கு வெளியே முகாமிட்டனர். அந்நகரங்களைத் தோற்கடிக்கத் திட்டங்கள் தீட்டும்பொருட்டு அவன் இவ்வாறுச் செய்தான். அவன் அனைத்து நகரங்களையும் தானே வென்றுவிட விரும்பினான்.
