இவையனைத்தையும் எசேக்கியா உண்மையுடன் செய்து முடித்தப் பிறகு, சனகெரிப் எனும் அசீரியா அரசன் யூதா நாட்டைத் தாக்க வந்தான். சனகெரிப்பும் அவனது படைகளும் கோட்டைக்கு வெளியே முகாமிட்டனர். அந்நகரங்களைத் தோற்கடிக்கத் திட்டங்கள் தீட்டும்பொருட்டு அவன் இவ்வாறுச் செய்தான். அவன் அனைத்து நகரங்களையும் தானே வென்றுவிட விரும்பினான்.

யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசேக்கியாவின் பதினாலாம் வருஷத்திலே அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய சனகெரிப் யூதாவிலிருக்கிற அரணான சகல பட்டணங்களுக்கும் விரோதமாய் வந்து அவைகளைப் பிடித்தான்.

அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய பூல், தேசத்திற்கு விரோதமாய் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது மெனாகேம் பூலின் உதவியினால் ராஜ்யபாரத்தை தன் கையில் பலப்படுத்தும்பொருட்டு, அவனுக்கு ஆயிரம் தாலந்து வெள்ளி கொடுத்தான்.

ஓசெயாவின் ஒன்பதாம் வருஷத்தில் அசீரியா ராஜா சமாரியாவைப் பிடித்து, இஸ்ரவேலை அசீரியாவுக்குச் சிறையாகக் கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களைக் கோசான் நதி ஓரமான ஆலாகிலும் ஆபோரிலும் மேதியரின் பட்டணங்களிலும் குடியேற்றினான்.

அசீரியா ராஜா இஸ்ரவேலை அசீரியாவுக்குச் சிறைபிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோய், கோசான் நதியோரமான ஆலாகிலும் ஆபோரிலும் மேதியரின் பட்டணங்களிலும் குடியேற்றினான்.

இதற்குப்பின்பு மோவாப் புத்திரரும், அம்மோன் புத்திரரும், அவர்களோடே அம்மோனியருக்கு அப்புறத்திலுள்ள மனுஷருங்கூட யோசபாத்திற்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம்பண்ண வந்தார்கள்.

எப்பிராயீம் யூதாவைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்த நாள்முதல் வராத நாட்களைக் கர்த்தர் உன்மேலும், உன் ஜனத்தின்மேலும், உன் பிதாவுடைய வம்சத்தின்மேலும், அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவினாலே வரப்பண்ணுவார்.

இந்த ஜனம் மெதுவாய் ஓடுகிற சீலோவாவின் தண்ணீர்களை அசட்டைபண்ணி, ரேத்சீனையும் ரெமலியாவின் குமாரனையும் சார்ந்து சந்தோஷிக்கிறபடியினால்,

என் கோபத்தின் கோலாகிய அசீரியனுக்கு ஐயோ! அவன் கையிலிருக்கிறது என் சினத்தின் தண்டாயுதம்.

எசேக்கியா ராஜா அரசாண்ட பதினாலாம் வருஷத்திலே அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய சனகெரிப் யூதாவிலிருக்கிற அரணான சகல பட்டணங்களுக்கும் விரோதமாய் வந்து, அவைகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்.

மனந்திரும்பமாட்டோமென்றதினால் அவர்கள் எகிப்துதேசத்துக்குத் திரும்பிப்போவதில்லை; அசீரியன் அவர்களுக்கு ராஜா.

தடைகளை நீக்கிப்போடுகிறவர் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக நடந்துபோகிறார்; அவர்கள் தடைகளை நீக்கி, வாசலால் உட்பிரவேசித்துக் கடந்துபோவார்கள்; அவர்கள் ராஜா அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகப் போவார், கர்த்தர் அவர்கள் முன்னணியில் நடந்துபோவார்.
