ஞானஸ்நானத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்படி கிறிஸ்து என்னை அனுப்பவில்லை; சுவிசேஷத்தைப் பிரசங்கிக்கவே அனுப்பினார்; கிறிஸ்துவின் சிலுவை வீணாய்ப்போகாதபடிக்கு, சாதுரிய ஞானமில்லாமல் பிரசங்கிக்கவே அனுப்பினார்.

மக்களுக்கு ஞானஸ்நானம் கொடுக்கும் வேலையைக் கிறிஸ்து எனக்குத் தரவில்லை. நற்செய்தியை மக்களுக்குக் கூறும் வேலையையே கிறிஸ்து எனக்கு அளித்தார். ஆனால் உலகத்து ஞானத்தைக் காட்டும் சொற்களைப் பயன்படுத்தாமல் நற்செய்தியை மட்டும் சொல்லவே இயேசு கிறிஸ்து என்னை அனுப்பினார். நற்செய்தியைக் கூற உலக ஞானத்தை நான் பயன்படுத்தினால், அப்போது கிறிஸ்துவின் சிலுவை அர்த்தமற்றதாகிவிடும்.

திருமுழுக்குக் கொடுப்பதற்கு அல்ல, நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கவே கிறிஸ்து என்னை அனுப்பினார். மனித ஞானத்தின் அடிப்படையிலான சொற்களில் இந்நற்செய்தியை அறிவித்தலாகாது. அவ்வாறு அறிவித்தால் கிறிஸ்துவின் சிலுவை பொருளற்றுப் போய்விடும்.
