ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਅਤੇ ਅਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਹਰ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ।

ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਗੱਲ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।”

ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੋ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਤੇਰੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਰਊਬੇਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਮਓਨ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
