ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਸਵੇਰ-ਸਾਰ ਉੱਠਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਇਹ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਕੇ ਖਲੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਕੋਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਉ ਲਈ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛ ਸੱਕੇ, “ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ?” ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਆਖਦਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਾਂ।”

ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਸਵੇਰ-ਸਾਰ ਉੱਠਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਇਹ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਕੇ ਖਲੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਕੋਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਉ ਲਈ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛ ਸੱਕੇ, “ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ?” ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਆਖਦਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਾਂ।”
