ਤਦ ਹਜ਼ਾਏਲ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੋਹਫ਼ੇ ਵੀ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੰਮਿਸਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਹਫ਼ੇ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਲੀ ਊਠ ਕਰਨੇ ਪਏ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਹਜ਼ਾਏਲ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਵੱਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੇਰੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਅਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਬਨ-ਹਦਦ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਪੁੱਛਾਂ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਰੋਗ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ?”

ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਦੰਮਿਸਕ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਹਜ਼ਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਮਸਹ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਣਾ।

ਤਦ ਅਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੁਣੇ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹਾਂ।” ਤਦ ਨਅਮਾਨ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਸੁਗਾਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ 340 ਕਿੱਲੋ ਚਾਂਦੀ, 6,000 ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਸ ਜੋੜੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਲਏ।

ਪਰ ਤਦ ਨਅਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ, “ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ! ਕੀ ਜੇ ਨਬੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ? ਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹਾ ਲੈ ਤੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਜਾ, ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨ ਲੈਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।”

ਜਦ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਾਂ? ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਵਾਂ?”

ਯੋਆਸ਼ ਦਾ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਕੋਲ ਫੇਰਾ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਵੀ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਯੋਆਸ਼ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਰੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗਾ, “ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ! ਕੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਰੱਥ ਤੇ ਇਸਦੇ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਵੇਲਾ ਹੈ?”

ਤਦ ਆਹਾਜ਼ ਨੇ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਤਿਗਲਥ ਪਿਲਸਰ ਕੋਲ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ਵਾਹਕ ਭੇਜੇ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਭੇਜਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਿਆਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹਾਂ ਸੋ ਆਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਰਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਅ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ। ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਨ ਆਏ ਹਨ।”

ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ। ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਵੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੀ ਨਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ।
