Proverbs 14 - ASV (Punjabi)

1 Every wise woman buildeth her house; But the foolish plucketh it down with her own hands.ਇੱਕ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਔਰਤ ਆਪਣਾ ਘਰ ਉਸਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਢਾਹ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਚਲਾਕ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਰਸੱਕਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for `his' pride; But the lips of the wise shall preserve them.ਇੱਕ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਕਬਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਮੰਡ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਛੜ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਚਾਉ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; But much increase is by the strength of the ox.ਜਿੱਥੇ ਬਲਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਬਾੜਾ ਖਾਲੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਬਲਦ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ, ਭਰਪੂਰ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦੀ ਵਾਢੀ ਕਰਨ ’ਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

5 A faithful witness will not lie; But a false witness uttereth lies.ਇੱਕ ਸੱਚਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਝੂਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ। ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਝੂਠ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਝੂਠਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

6 A scoffer seeketh wisdom, and `findeth it' not; But knowledge is easy unto him that hath understanding.ਇੱਕ ਮਗਰੂਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਭਾਲਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਕਦੀ, ਪਰ ਸਮਝਦਾਰੀ ਆਸਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੈ।

7 Go into the presence of a foolish man, And thou shalt not perceive `in him' the lips of knowledge.ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਕਦੇ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿੱਖਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ।

8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way; But the folly of fools is deceit.ਚੁਸਤ ਆਦਮੀ ਲਈ, ਸਿਆਣਪ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਕਰੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚ-ਵਿੱਚਾਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਵਕੂਫ਼ੀ, ਧੋਖਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

9 A trespass-offering mocketh fools; But among the upright there is good will.ਮੂਰਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਹੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਚੰਗੀ ਵਸੀਅਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

10 The heart knoweth its own bitterness; And a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.ਹਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਅਜਨਬੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ।

11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; But the tent of the upright shall flourish.ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਤੰਬੂ ਵੱਧੇ-ਫ਼ੁੱਲੇਗਾ।

12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man; But the end thereof are the ways of death.ਇੱਕ ਉਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਸਹੀ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮੌਤ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; And the end of mirth is heaviness.ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਹਸੱਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਵੀ ਉਦਾਸ ਹੋ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਹਾਸੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਵੇ।

14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways; And a good man `shall be satisfied' from himself.ਜਿਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਕਮੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਗਣਗੇ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਗੇਗਾ।

15 The simple believeth every word; But the prudent man looketh well to his going.ਆਮ ਲੋਕ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹਰ ਚੀਜ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੋਚ ਵਿੱਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; But the fool beareth himself insolently, and is confident.ਇੱਕ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਦੀ ਤੰਦਰੁਸਤ ਖੁਰਾਕ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦਾ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਹੈ।

17 He that is soon angry will deal foolishly; And a man of wicked devices is hated.ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਛੇਤੀ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਮੂਰੱਖਤਾ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਧੀਰਜਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

18 The simple inherit folly; But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਰਸਾ ਬੇਵਕੂਫ਼ੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਾਜ ਵਜੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੇਗਾ।

19 The evil bow down before the good; And the wicked, at the gates of the righteous.ਬਦ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਝੁਕਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੂਹਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਝੁਕਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ, ਜੋ ਧਰਮੀ ਹਨ।

20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbor; But the rich hath many friends.ਇੱਕ ਗਰੀਬ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵੀ ਦੂਰੀ ਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਪਰ ਅਮੀਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਦੋਸਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

21 He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth; But he that hath pity on the poor, happy is he.ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗਦਾ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਗਰੀਬ ਲਈ ਦਯਾਲੂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ।

22 Do they not err that devise evil? But mercy and truth `shall be to' them that devise good.ਕੀ ਉਹ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬਦੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਗੁਆਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ? ਪਰ ਉਹ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਮਕਹਲਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

23 In all labor there is profit; But the talk of the lips `tendeth' only to penury.ਸਖਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਉੱਕੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਵੱਲ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

24 The crown of the wise is their riches; `But' the folly of fools is `only' folly.ਸਿਆਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪੁਰਸੱਕਾਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਵਕੂਫ਼ੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਬੇਵਕੂਫ਼ੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

25 A true witness delivereth souls; But he that uttereth lies `causeth' deceit.ਇੱਕ ਸੱਚਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਜਿੰਦਗੀਆਂ ਬਚਾਉਂਦਾ, ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਝੂਠਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਘ੍ਰਿਣਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

26 In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence; And his children shall have a place of refuge.ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਤਕੜਾ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਰਣ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

27 The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, That one may depart from the snares of death.ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਰੋਤ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿਕੰਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

28 In the multitude of people is the king's glory; But in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

29 He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.ਇੱਕ ਧੀਰਜਵਾਨ ਬੰਦਾ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਮਝਦਾਰੀ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਛੇਤੀ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਬੇਵਕੂਫ਼ੀ ਦਰਸਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

30 A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; But envy is the rottenness of the bones.ਸ਼ਾਂਤਮਈ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਈਰਖਾ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; But he that hath mercy on the needy honoreth him.ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਾਉਂਦਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਰਸੱਕਾਰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਗਰੀਬ ਲਈ ਦਯਾਲੂ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

32 The wicked is thrust down in his evil-doing; But the righteous hath a refuge in his death.ਇੱਕ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਆਦਮੀ ਭਟਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਪਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਧਰਮੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਉਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਹੌਂਸਲੇਮੰਦ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding; But `that which is' in the inward part of fools is made known.ਸਿੱਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ, ਮੂਰੱਖਾਂ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਣ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

34 Righteousness exalteth a nation; But sin is a reproach to any people.ਨੇਕੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਨ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਪਾਪ ਹਰ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਚਰਿਤਰ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਲੰਕ ਹੈ।

35 The king's favor is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; But his wrath will be `against' him that causeth shame.ਇੱਕ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਰਾਜੇ ਲਈ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਸ਼ਰਮਸਾਰੀ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
