Proverbs 1
8 ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੇਟੇ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਤਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੋ। ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗੋ ਨਾ।
9 ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਮਾਪੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਹਾਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਜਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਗਰਦਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਵੱਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਹਾਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
10 ਮੇਰੇ ਬੇਟੇ, ਪਾਪੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਜੋ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਦਿਓ!
11 ਜੇ ਉਹ ਆਖਣ, “ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਓ! ਆਓ ਆਪਾਂ ਲੁਕ ਜਾਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰੀਏ। ਆਓ ਆਪਾਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਬੇਗੁਨਾਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰੀਏ।
12 ਆਓ, ਆਪਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਬਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਜਿਉਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿਗਲ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਟੋਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
13 ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਲੈ ਲਵਾਂਗੇ। ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਲੁੱਟ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਭਰ ਲਵਾਂਗੇ।
14 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਓ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਵੋ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ, ਅਸੀਂ ਬਰਾਬਰ-ਬਰਾਬਰ ਵੰਡ ਲਵਾਂਗੇ।”
15 ਮੇਰੇ ਬੇਟੇ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਨਾ ਲੱਗੋ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਦਮ ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਰੱਖੋ।
16 ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਬਦੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਜ-ਤਰਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਨ।
17 ਲੋਕੀਂ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਾਹੁਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਛਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੰਛੀ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਛਾਉਣਾ ਬੇਕਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
18 ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਤੇ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
19 ਲੋਭੀ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਮਲ ਹੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

8 ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੇਟੇ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਤਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੋ। ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗੋ ਨਾ।

9 ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਮਾਪੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਹਾਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਜਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਗਰਦਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਵੱਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਹਾਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

10 ਮੇਰੇ ਬੇਟੇ, ਪਾਪੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਜੋ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਦਿਓ!
My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11 ਜੇ ਉਹ ਆਖਣ, “ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਓ! ਆਓ ਆਪਾਂ ਲੁਕ ਜਾਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰੀਏ। ਆਓ ਆਪਾਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਬੇਗੁਨਾਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰੀਏ।
If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
12 ਆਓ, ਆਪਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਬਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਜਿਉਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿਗਲ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਟੋਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13 ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਲੈ ਲਵਾਂਗੇ। ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਲੁੱਟ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਭਰ ਲਵਾਂਗੇ।
We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਓ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਵੋ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ, ਅਸੀਂ ਬਰਾਬਰ-ਬਰਾਬਰ ਵੰਡ ਲਵਾਂਗੇ।”
Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15 ਮੇਰੇ ਬੇਟੇ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਨਾ ਲੱਗੋ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਦਮ ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਰੱਖੋ।
My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16 ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਬਦੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਜ-ਤਰਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਨ।
For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17 ਲੋਕੀਂ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਾਹੁਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਛਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੰਛੀ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਛਾਉਣਾ ਬੇਕਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
18 ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਤੇ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
19 ਲੋਭੀ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਮਲ ਹੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
