ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗੀਏ? ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਖੇਤ ਜਾਂ ਅੰਗੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੀਚੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵਾਂਗੇ।”

“ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਾਹਰ ਖੇਤ ਜਾਂ ਅੰਗੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੇ ਖੇਤ ਜਾਂ ਅੰਗੂਰ ਦੇ ਬਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੱਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੜਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਦੇਣੀ ਪਵੇਗੀ।

ਸੱਤਵਾਂ ਵਰ੍ਹਾ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਖਾਸ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਬੀਜੋ। ਜੇ ਓੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਸਲਾਂ ਉੱਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਗਰੀਬ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਲੈਣ ਦਿਓ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਛੱਡਣ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਲੈਣ ਦਿਓ। ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਔਰਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਦੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ, ਹਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਉਸ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖ ਸੱਕੇਗਾ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੀ ਸੀ।
ਕਜ਼ਾૃ 16:21
ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੜ ਲਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ਼ਾਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਗਏ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਜ਼ੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਭੱਜ ਨਾ ਸੱਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਮਸੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੱਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਨਾਜ ਪੀਸਣ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਪਰ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਨਾਹਾਸ਼ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਉੱਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝੌਤਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਭ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੱਜੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਝ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਬੇਪਤੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਠਹਿਰਾਵਾਂਗਾ।”
