ਜਦੋਂ ਮੂਸਾ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਨਾਨ ਦੀ ਪਰੱਖ ਪੜਤਾਨ ਲਈ ਭੇਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਨੇਗੇਵ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲੰਘਕੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਉ।

ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਲੜੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕਰ ਲਈ। ਪਰ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚਲੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸਫ਼ਲ ਰਹੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਲੋਹੇ ਦੇ ਰਥ ਸਨ।
ਕਜ਼ਾૃ 1:15
ਅਕਸਾਹ ਨੇ ਕਾਲੇਬ ਨੂੰ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦੇਹ। ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨੇਜ਼ੇਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰੂ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦੇਹ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੋਵੇ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਾਲੇਬ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੇਠਲੇ ਤਲਾਅ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਅਬਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਕਨਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਸੀ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਅਬਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਅਬਰਾਮ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਲਕੀਅਤ ਸਮੇਤ ਨੇਗੇਵ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੌਲੇ ਲੰਘਿਆ। ਲੂਤ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ।

ਇਹ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਦੱਖਣ ਵੱਲ ਬਿੱਛੂ ਪਾਸ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੀਨ ਤੱਕ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਦੱਖਣ ਵੱਲ ਕਾਦੇਸ਼ ਬਰਨੇਆ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ। ਸਰਹੱਦ ਹਸ਼ਰੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਅੱਗੇ ਅੱਦਾਰ ਤੀਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ। ਅੱਦਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਮੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਕਾ ਤੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ।

ਦੂਸਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਸਵੇਰੇ-ਸਵੇਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਚਾਲੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੇ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।”

ਮਾਲੇਕੀ ਲੋਕ ਨੇਗੇਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹਿੱਤੀ, ਯਬੂਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਮੋਰੀ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕਨਾਨੀ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।”

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਪਰੱਖ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੀਨ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਤੋਂ ਰੇਹੋਬ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਬੋ ਹਾਮਾਥ ਤੱਕ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੀ ਪਰੱਖ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 14:10
ਸਿੱਦੀਮ ਦੀ ਵਾਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਖੱਡਾਂ ਸਨ। ਸਦੂਮ ਅਤੇ ਅਮੂਰਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ਭੱਜ ਗਈਆਂ। ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੱਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ। ਪਰ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਨੱਸ ਗਏ।
