ਪਰ ਸਾਰਈ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੇਰੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਸੂਰਵਾਰ ਸਮਝਦੀ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ। ਉਹ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰੇ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੌਣ ਸਹੀ ਹੈ।”

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਤੇ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਦੇਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਲਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਾਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਾਇਆ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਬਹਾਨਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।”

ਪਰ ਮਾਰਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੰਨਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਕੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੈਣ ਇੰਨਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੰਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਇੱਕਲਿਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਛੱਡ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੋ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇ।”
