ਅਮਸਾਲ 31

1 ਰਾਜੇ ਲਮੂਏਲ ਦੀਆ ਸਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਰਾਜੇ ਲਮੂਏਲ ਦਿਆਂ ਸਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ।

2 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋ। ਉਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ।

3 ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਨੂੰ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਖਰਚ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਔਰਤਾਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ।

4 ਹੇ ਲਮੂਏਲ, ਰਾਜੇ ਲਈ ਮੈਅ ਪੀਣੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਬੀਅਰ ਪੀਣੀ।

5 ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਪੀਂਦਾ, ਉਹ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਬਿਵਸਬਾ ਕੀ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਗਰੀਬ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਝਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।

6 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੀਅਰ ਦਿਓ ਜੋ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਅ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗ਼ਮਗੀਨ ਹਨ।

7 ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਪੀਣ ਉਹ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ।

8 ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਲਈ ਬੋਲੋ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਕਦਾ! ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰੋ:

9 ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬੋਲੋ, ਉਹੀ ਕਹੋ ਜੋ ਧਰਮੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਮੰਦਾ ਲਈ ਨਿਆਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਤ ਰੱਖੋ।

10 ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਪਤਨੀ ਕੌਣ ਇੱਕ ਸਦਾਚਾਰੀ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਸੱਕਦਾ? ਉਹ ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਪੱਥਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਹੈ।

11 ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਦੀ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।

12 ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ, ਉਸ ਲਈ ਨੇਕੀ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

13 ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਉਨ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਲੇਕਸ ਜਮ੍ਹਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

14 ਉਹ ਵਪਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦੂਰ-ਦੁਰਾਡੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਲਈ ਭੋਜਨ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

15 ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉੱਠਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਲਈ ਭੋਜਨ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜਾਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਨੋਕਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

16 ਉਹ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਖਰੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੇ ਪੈਸਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਅੰਗੂਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਗ਼ ਲਗਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

17 ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਖਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ।

18 ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇਰ ਰਾਤ ਤੱਕ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

19 ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੂਤ ਕਤਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੱਪੜਾ ਉਣਦੀ ਹੈ।

20 ਉਹ ਖੁਲੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਮੰਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

21 ਜਦੋਂ ਸਰਦੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਨਿੱਘੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

22 ਉਹ ਚਾਦਰਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਲੰਘਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਛਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਮਲ-ਮਲ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਮਨੀ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨਦੀ ਹੈ।

23 ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਉਹ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

24 ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਵਪਾਰਨ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਤਰੇ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਪਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਚਦੀ ਹੈ।

25 ਆਤਮ-ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਸ਼ਠਾ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚਕੇ ਹੱਸ ਸੱਕਦੀ ਹੈ।

26 ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਸਿਆਣਪ ’ਚ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਬਾਨ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਯੋਗ ਹਿਦਾਇਤ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

27 ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਆਲਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ।

28 ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਉਸਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

29 ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਇੱਥੇ ਕਈ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀਏ ਪਤਨੀਏ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੈਂ।”

30 ਆਕਰਸ਼ਣ ਛਲੀਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਔਰਤ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਭੈ ਖਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸਤਤ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ।

31 ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਇਨਾਮ ਦਿਓ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਉਹ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ। ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਣ-ਸਾਧਾਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਤਤ ਕਰੋ।

1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.

2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?

3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
