ਅਮਸਾਲ 12

1 ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਸਿੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੁਧਰਨਾ ਵੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਝਿੜਕੇ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰੇ ਬੇਵਕੂਫ਼ ਹੈ।

2 ਇੱਕ ਨੇਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਉਹ (ਯਹੋਵਾਹ) ਇੱਕ ਸੱਕੀਮੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੰਦਦਾ ਹੈ।

3 ਇੱਕ ਜਣਾ ਬਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਉਖਾੜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ।

4 ਨੇਕ ਪਤਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਤਾਜ਼ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਔਰਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ।

5 ਨੇਕ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਉਂਤਾਂ ਨਿਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਸਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀਆ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਘ੍ਰਿਣਾਯੋਗ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

6 ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

7 ਬੁਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਖੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚਦੇ ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ।

8 ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਉਸਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਸਤਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਮਾਗ ਪੁੱਠੇ ਹਨ ਤਿਰਸੱਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

9 ਮਹੱਤਵਹੀਣ ਹੋਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਨੌਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਦਾਵ੍ਹਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੀ ਕਮੀ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਹੈ।

10 ਇੱਕ ਨੇਕ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਰੂਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਵੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਹਰ ਸਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਲਮ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

11 ਉਹ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਖੇਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਦੇ ਭੁੱਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰੇਗਾ। ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੂਲ ਵਿੱਚਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਭੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਝ ਦੀ ਕਮੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

12 ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ-ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੁੱਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਉੱਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

13 ਇੱਕ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਫ਼ਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਧਰਮੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

14 ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਲਈ ਇਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇੰਝ ਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਬਚਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਚੀਜਾਂ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

15 ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦਾ ਅਪਣੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਤਮ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

16 ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦਾ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਸਮਝਦਾਰ ਬੰਦਾ, ਬੇਇੱਜ਼ਤੀ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

17 ਇੱਕ ਸੱਚਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਸਹੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਝੂਠਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਝੂਠ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

18 ਬਿਨਾ ਸੋਚੇ ਸਮਝੇ ਬੋਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਜ਼ਖਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜੀ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ।

19 ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬੁਲ੍ਹ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਬੋੜੇ ਹੀ ਪਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

20 ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਬਦ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿਤਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਘ੍ਰਿਣਾਯੋਗ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੋਤਸਾਹਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਖੁਸ਼ ਹਨ।

21 ਇੱਕ ਧਰਮੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕਠਿਣਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਲੋਕ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ।

22 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

23 ਸਿਆਣੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਾਂਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਮੂਰਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੂਰੱਖਤਾਈ ਦਰਸਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

24 ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਿਹਨਤੀ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਕਾਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਗਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਪਰ ਸੁਸਤ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।

25 ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਭਾਰੀ ਬੋਝ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਚੰਗੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ।

26 ਧਰਮੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

27 ਇੱਕ ਆਲਸੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਉਹ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਮਿਹਨਤੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਅੱਤ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰ ਲਵੇਗਾ।

28 ਜ਼ਿਦਗੀ ਨੇਕੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਵੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੌਤ ਵੱਲ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

2 A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

16 A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellers of peace is joy.

21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

22 Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.

23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

28 In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
