“ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜੋ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੋ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਰਾਤ ਉਸ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਨਾ ਰਹੇ ਜਿਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਤੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।”

ਜਿੰਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਾਂਗੇ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮੁਸ਼ਿਕਲਾਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਤਲਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਤੰਬੂ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਪਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਵਰਗੀ ਤੰਬੂ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਜੇ ਹੋਈਏ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਇਹ ਮਰ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੱਜਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਹੀਮਅਸ ਖੂਹ ਚੋ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ, “ਜਲਦੀ ਕਰ! ਜਲਦੀ ਦਰਿਆ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਇਹ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”

ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਫ਼ਸਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਿ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ, “ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਬਚਾਅ ਦਾ ਉਪਾਅ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ! ਜੇਕਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਏਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੜ ਲਵੇਗਾ ਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਬਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਕਾਂਗੇ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਭੱਜਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਲਵੇ। ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਭਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟੇਗਾ।”

ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੀ ਗਰਜ਼ਿਆ, “ਜਲਦੀ ਕਰ! ਦੇਰ ਨਾ ਕਰ! ਜਲਦੀ ਫ਼ੜਕੇ ਲਿਆ! ਉੱਥੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਨਾ ਰਹਿ!” ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨੇ ਤੀਰ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਕੋਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ।
